Cotton is considered as backbone of Pakistan’s economy. It is a summer season crop. However, severely high temperature (> 45°C) often prevails at its reproductive stages which is a great threat to its productivity. The aim of present study was to mitigate the bad impacts of heat stress on cotton through foliar application of boron, zinc or chitosan. Initially in (2016) a pot trial was carried out in glass house to compare the heat tolerance of available cotton cultivars. Experiment was conducted using completely randomized design (CRD) with split treatment structure and replicated four times. Heat stress was imposed by placing pots in glass house. The experimental material consisted of fifteen cultivars of cotton viz. FH-Lalazar, FH-142, FH-114, CIM-598, CIM-599, CIM-602, VH-282, VH-326, VH-341, MNH-886, MNH-888, MNH-992, IUB-13, IUB-212 and IUB-222. One set of pots was placed in ambient environment (H0; control) while other set was placed in glasshouse for 15 days after germination (H1; heat imposition). On the basis of relative leaf water contents, cell membrane thermo-stability, antioxidant enzymes and biomass accumulating parameters (root, shoot length, fresh and dry weight) these genotypes were grouped in to three classes. Genotypes CIM-598, CIM-599, CIM-602, VH-282, VH-326, VH-341, MNH-888, MNH-992 and IUB-13 expressed heat tolerance; FH-Lalazar, FH-142, MNH-886, IUB-212 and IUB-222 represented medium susceptibility while FH-114 depicted highest susceptibility to terminal heat. Out of these a popular medium heat tolerant variety FH-142 was selected for further experimentation. Thereafter, two independent field experiments were conducted for two consecutive years 2016 and 2017 at Students’ Farm, Department of Agronomy, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan. Both experiments were arranged in randomized complete block design (RCBD). Each treatment was repeated thrice and randomized in split structure. Heat stress (for 4 days at flower beginning; for 8 days at flower beginning) was the main factor in both experiments. A control (H0; ambient temperature) was also maintained. First experiment consisted of combinations of (0, 1 g L-1) and zinc (0, 2 g L-1) foliar spray in subplots. In second trial, foliar application of chitosan in different concentrations (0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 g L-1) were made in subplots. Negative allegations of heat stress were more pronouncing under ‘heat stress at flower initiation for 8 days’ than ‘heat stress at flower initiation for 4 days’. In the first field experiment foliar applied zinc alone (zinc 2 g L-1) and in combination with boron (1 g boron L-1 + 2 zinc g L-1) showed statistically alike and comparatively more growth, yield, physiological, biochemical and quality related attributes compared to control and foliar applied boron alone under heat stress environments. While, statistically more antioxidants enzymes, osmo-protectants, chlorophyll contents and water relations attributes and significantly lesser malondialdehyde contents were perceived with combined application of two nutrients (1 g boron L-1 + 2 g zinc L-1) than other treatments under ‘no heat stress’. In second field experiment, chitosan at 0.6 and 0.8 g L-1 performed equally well, but better than its lower doses, in improving the performance of heat-stressed cotton. Moreover, biochemical attributes variations were found statistically significant under varying temperature regimes. And foliar applied micronutrients (boron and zinc) in combination and growth regulator (chitosan) proved more advantageous under heat compared to control

افسوس ہے پچھلے دنوں مولانا احمد علی اورمسٹر شعیب قریشی نے داعی اجل کولبیک کہا اوررہ گزائے عالم جاودانی ہوگئے۔مولانا احمدعلی حلقۂ دیوبند کے اکابر و مشائخ میں سے تھے۔بلند پایہ عالم، وسیع النظر مفکر اوردرویش صفت بزرگ ہونے کے علاوہ اونچے درجہ کے صاحب معرفت وباطن بھی تھے۔قرآن مجید کی تفسیر اوراُس کی تعلیم وتدریس سے خاص شغف تھااوراُس کا بڑااہتمام کرتے تھے، دارالعلوم دیوبند اوردوسرے مدارس عربیہ کے فارغ التحصیل طلبا اسی غرض سے لاہورجاتے اورچند ماہ قیام کرکے مولانا کے مخصوص درس قرآن سے مستفید ہوتے تھے۔پنجاب کے انگریزی تعلیم یافتہ حضرات بھی موصوف کے زیر اثر تھے اوراُن کی اچھی خاصی تعداد اس درس میں پابندی سے شریک ہوتی تھی۔ پنجاب میں مولانا کی ذات جواحیاء دینی،روحانی واخلاقی تعلیم وتربیت اورنشروتبلیغ علوم ومعارف قرآنیہ کے لیے وقف تھی۔ مرجع عوام وخواص تھی۔تقریر موثر اور دلپذیر ہوتی تھی مگر مجلس میں کم سخنی وکم گوئی اُن کی خو تھی۔زندگی بڑی سادہ تھی، تکلف، تصنع اورمادی آرائش وزیبائش سے نفرت تھی۔ان خوبیوں کے علاوہ مجاہد فی سبیل اﷲ بھی تھے۔تحریک خلافت اوراُس کے بعد جدوجہد آزادی میں ہمیشہ جمعیۃ علماء ہند کے ساتھ رہے۔مولانا عبیداﷲ سندھیؒ کے داماد تھے۔اس تعلق سے اُن کومولانا سے استفادہ کا زیادہ موقع ملا تھااوراُس کااثر اُن کے درس قرآن میں اورعام تقریروں اورگفتگوؤں میں بھی ظاہرہوتاتھا۔قیام پاکستان کے بعد سے بڑے بڑے اہم مسائل رونما ہوئے اوربعض اوقات علماء کے لیے سخت ابتلا و آزمائش کے مواقع پیداہوگئے، مگرمولانا نے اعلان حق اوراعلائے کلمۃ اﷲ میں کبھی بھی کوتاہی یاپہلوتہی سے کام نہیں لیا۔اُن کواس کی سزابھگتنی پڑی۔مگر انھیں اس کی کبھی پروا نہیں ہوئی۔اب ایسے علمائے حق کہاں ملیں گے؟جوجاتاہے اپنا صحیح جانشین وقائم مقام چھوڑ کرنہیں جاتا۔ اللھم بردمضجعہ وارحمہ رحمۃً واسعۃً۔ [اپریل۱۹۶۲ء]

 

PEMBELAJARAN NILAI NILAI KARAKTER ISLAM MODERAT DI PERGURUAN TINGGI

This study discusses how to integrate the values ​​of moderate Islamic character in Islamic higher education institutions. Integration of the value of moderate Islamic character values ​​can be implemented through learning in all subjects in Islamic higher education. Integration of Islamic character values ​​can be done on all subjects in Islamic higher education by referring to the concepts, systems and theories of learning. Learning the value of moderate Islamic characters can give students a personality color better than before and can inspire lecturers as learners. In carrying out enlightenment and intelligence in shaping tough, courageous, honest, tolerant, responsible and consistent students, in order to answer the challenges of powerlessness and inability to build national identity, inability to reconstruct the nation's potential responsively and dynamically. The hope of the writer, with the integration of the value of moderate Islamic character in all courses in Islamic higher education, can be the basis for the formation of adherent behavior, and the value of character can be a declarator of glory on the face of the earth

Secret Data Transmission Using Steganography

Cryptography, watermarking and steganography are among the rapidly emerging techniques pertaining to sustain, authenticate, and exhume the hidden data, especially when it is transmitted over a public network/channel. In cryptography, the message is executed and encrypted artistically that the intended message becomes incomprehensible. Whereas, water marking technique conceals the data in some cover file quite tactfully that the data engrossed in the host signal/ entity becomes imperceptible which is likely to be authenticated later on. Likewise, steganography approach veils the data in the cover signal indistinctly to deflect the interception of undesired user. The exchange of encompassed message by cryptographic system may create suspense for the intruder. But, contrary to it, in steganography the user is less attracted to the hidden information. Therefore, the harmonization of both of these technologies can produce invisible higher level of message protection. In this dissertation, the problem of imperceptibility, data rate and robustness is formulated and different approaches are proposed and investigated to solve it. In first approach, a novel technique to embed information into the audio signals is proposed. In this regard, the set of all possible values of amplitudes of audio signals are termed as “audio sample space”. An algorithm is proposed to subdivide this sample space into subspaces and the information was embedded into these subspaces. On the other hand, an algorithm for decoding on receiver side is also proposed. The algorithm has the capability to work on real time systems and provide sufficient security at commercial level. The amount of imperceptibility achieved is, quite a distinct viii benefit concerning perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ). In second approach, an innovative steganography technique has been engineered named as weighted pattern matching (WPM) which is utilized to collaborate the lifting wavelet transform. The message bits are insert in the indistinguishable places that are picked from the coefficients of detail sub-bands by taking edge of the proposed WPM technique. WPM captures the correlation between the message data block and detail coefficients help us to configure the exact location that can contain the data block invisibly. The ultimate results of the experiment exhibit that the WPM technique enhances invisibility significantly in addition to lossless massage retrieval. In third approach, another sustained efficient, imperishable approach brimmed of heavy payload, named compressive weighted pattern matching (CWPM) has been invented and applied. CWPM technique has been born from the combination of compressive sensing (CS) with WPM. Use of CS provides the higher level of security and bigger payload by means of compression and encryption. CWPM holds the position where data block can be embedded on the basis of a weighted correlation. Our engineered techniques have been compared with the well-known steganography elaborated in literature review. The results ingenuity proves that all designed models are far better firm and ingratiating.
