This study contributes to literature in four ways to explore the dynamics of stock price synchronicity (SPS). Firstly, it tests the weak form of market efficiency. Secondly, measures the effect of information environment on SPS by using firm specific variables i.e. liquidity, illiquidity, cost of information, trading cost and investor attention. Thirdly, this study attempts to investigate the relationship between information environment and foreign investment. Fourthly, role of information environment premium or SPS premium in explaining equity returns is explored. This study investigates the weak form of efficiency of Karachi stock exchange using a set of parametric and non-parametric tests that include Jarque-Bera and Kolmogrov-Smirnov (KS) test for normality, autocorrelation and Run test for autocorrelation, Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Phillips-Perron (PP) for stationarity and multiple variance ratio (MVR) test. The results of the study indicate that daily, weekly and monthly returns do not follow random walk. So, investors can use technical analysis to devise investment strategies. This study also examines the relationship between SPS and firm specific variables associated with information environment. Results indicate that age, size, institutional ownership, book to market ratio, trading cost, liquidity, illiquidity and returns have significant impact on SPS. Various proxies of liquidity and illiquidity are used to test the robustness of results. These proxies include volume, turnover rate, value traded, Amihud illiquidity and percentage of zero volume days. The results suggest that the differences in idiosyncratic volatility are not linked with the more or less information of firm specific attributes. It appears to be linked with noise in returns. Findings of this study are in line with West (1988) and Lettau Malkiel and Xu (2001). This study further suggests that low stock price synchronicity is a result of imbedding of firm specific variables information in to stock prices. If quality of information environment is good, market model R square will be higher represented by large institutional holding, greater age, lower trading cost, large size, value stocks, low illiquidity, high liquidity and large information events. In next phase, this study examines the relationship between foreign investment and information environment. Results indicate that Institutional ownership, age, trading cost, size, liquidity and illiquidity influence foreign investment. Institutional ownership, size and percentage of zero volume days have significant and positive impact on foreign investment and trading activities have negative association with foreign investment. Such deviations might be the effect of herding, noise trading and instable dynamics of emerging markets. Finally, this study explores the impact of size premium, value premium, information efficiency premium on average equity returns using the methodology proposed by Fama and French (1992, 1993). Result indicates that size premium, values premium and information efficiency premium are priced by the market. Market premium, size premium, value premium and information efficiency premium significantly explain equity returns in single factor, three factor and four factor model. Capital asset pricing model (CAPM) is valid for explaining average equity returns but multifactor model captures additional information. Therefore, it can be concluded that size premium, value premium and information efficiency premium are considered as systematic risk and priced by the market.

The action code of Islam is impartial and strong. All human beings, disabled and abled have the right of gaining justice and bound to giving justice. Because of disableness impartial behavior is against the Islamic justice code. The “good behavior” with disabled persons is the basic law of disableness in Islam. The “good behavior” with disabled persons in Islam is not the result of mercy and pity but is the result of that right of taking equal to the life of common people which is due to the nation and community. Hence the rights of disabled persons are the result of those requirements which are created due to disableness. The meaning which we take conventional is “complete worthlessness” but it means in Islam weak and feeble. That is to say disable person is able to work but he has less ability. Or he has no ability to do one job but has the ability of high rank to do other jobs. The Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) introduced first time this principle of disableness. The Arabs mean the word “disableness” complete uselessness. But the Holy Quran exempted the persons from Jehad not taking part in Tabuk battle because of disableness giving them the name of feebles. Islam does not appeal for mercy with disabled persons but advised to behave well with them and condemns also the injustice of society with them. Islam orders to perform one’s duties to others. Islam not only stresses on the performance of duties but also gives instructions in this connection.

Molecular Analysis of Hcv-Rna Genotypes in Beta Thalassemia Patients of Rahim Yar Khan

Hepatitis C is a worldwide problem which lead to the death of millions of people every year. In thalassemia patients, there is more risk of Hepatitis C infection due to multi transfusion in thalassemia patients. There is likelihood that the different Genotypes of HCV may be present in patients of thalassemia due to infection with Hepatitis C during blood transfusion. The main objective of this study was to rule out different types of HCV RNA Genotypes in the patients Beta-thalassemia and to rule out the causative mutation of the patients with Beta Thalassemia. A total of 100 clinically confirmed patients of Beta thalassemia were included in this study those were enrolled at Thalassemia clinic, Sheikh Zayed Hospital/ Medical College, Rahim Yar khan. The screening of blood samples were performed for the detection of anti-HCV antibodies by ICT method. 42 (42 %) samples were found positive and 58 (58 %) were negative for anti-HCV antibodies. The samples with HCV positive results were processed for HCV RNA amplification by Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method. HCV-RNA was detected in 18 (7.56 %) samples while 24 (10.0 %) samples were HCV-RNA not detected. These Real time PCR assay was run for the characterization of HCV genotype and found that 17 out of 18 samples were of HCV RNA Genotype 3 while single RNA was The HCV RNA Genotype 1. Therefore, HCV RNA Genotype 3 is most predominant type of HCV in Rahim Yar Khan Region of the Punjab province. It can also be depicted that HCV Genotype 3 is the most wide spread strain in Thalassemia patients. There was no strong association of liver function tests was found in HCV positive patients. The DNA from these patients was investigated for screening of genetic variations by Sanger?s DNA sequencing method in selected region of Beta Hemoglobin gene (HBB) i.e. present on chromosome 11. The sequence analysis revealed a single base change (G>C) in intronic region at c.507 in 30% samples while a single nucleotide variation (T>C) at c.58 was found in 70% DNA sequences. The haplotype analysis was carried out and no significant impact of the variation was found on protein structure and function i.e. synonymous change of codon CAT>CAC (His=). So the identified genetic variations in the selected regions of Beta Hemoglobin gene (HBB) have no significant impact on its phenotype in Thalassemia patients from Rahim Yar Khan District of the Punjab, Pakistan.
