Surface integrity is generally defined by its topological, mechanical, and metallurgical state of subsurface layers. Since the defects produced from different machining processes can affect the performance of component, experiments are conducted to understand the effect of changing operating parameters before new machining strategies are accepted. The MDS (minimum data set) data includes the basic surface topography that is normal in assessing a machining surface and some of the metallurgical measurements. High capital cost of WEDM equipment demands the need for optimal utilization of the capacity of WEDM process. Cutting speed (CS) is a basic performance indicator to meet this goal. However, WEDM process parameters have great impact on CS and as such productivity and machining efficiency. It is therefore necessary to choose appropriate combination of parameters to achieve higher CS. In this research, surface integrity was characterized by recast layer, surface morphology, microstructure and microhardness. Experimental investigation was carried out to determine significant wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) process parameters contributing to recast layer formation and its surface roughness (SR). Additionally, an empirical relationship between process parameters and cutting speed has been developed. Five cutting parameters selected to study their effects on surface integrity and cutting speed are wire speed, pulse (spark gap), pulse-on time, pulse ratio, and power. Machining conditions were varied systematically based on factorial design of experiments to explore influence of these process parameters on hardened high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel using molybdenum wire. Significant WEDM process parameters were identified through analysis of variance (ANOVA). Scanning electron microscope was used for recast layer, elemental analysis, morphology, and microstructures. To illustrate the effect of microstructure and compositional changes in the recast layer, micro-Vickers hardness testing of WEDMed surface was also performed. ANOVA results showed that pulse-on time and wire speed significantly affect recast layer. Topographical images showed presence of surface irregularities like micro-voids, craters, and globules which affect morphology of WEDMed surface. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) micrographs indicated the presence of three distinct layers namely recast layer (amorphous and columnar structure), heat-affected zone(HAZ) and bulk material. Energy dispersive spectroscopy ii (EDS) revealed that recast layer is free of alloying effects from molybdenum wire electrode. Surface layer was, however, found to be oxidized. A statistical model of CS was developed and validated through residual analysis and confirmatory experiments. Pulse ratio, power and pulse were the major process parameters significantly affecting CS as determined by ANOVA. Contour plots have also been developed to choose optimal process parameters. Stability of moly wire was studied employing SEM and EDS analysis. It was found that original surface quality and dimensions of moly wire are not affected by WEDM process. By virtue of this, dimensional accuracy of parts is ensured. Keywords: Cutting speed; HSLA steel; Moly wire; Process parameters; Surface integrity

سروسز (ملازمتوں) کی تسعیر کے شرعی مسائل

The word pricing is one of the four Ps of Marketing Mix (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) and the most important and attractive one as it bears profit and income for producer and employee. Using various pricing strategies, a rate is fixed for a product or service in order to get suitable profit. If it is not taken care, the business or service may cause you loss financially. Like this term is used in production, it is also practiced in services in order to determine inflation rates and fixing daily wages and monthly salaries, for which various pricing strategies and arithmetic formulas are used. In this paper I have come up with introduction of Pricing in Modern and Islamic perspective and then limiting the topic to pricing in services, I discussed various Shariah issues of Pricing in services in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

Cultural Drivers of Plant Biodiversity of District Tor Ghar

Interactions between people and plant diversity are indispensable. Ethnobiology explores such interactions in a scientific way to unearth the reality that cultureand plant diversity of a region influences each other in a reciprocal manner. Relations between plants and people are much stronger in remote cultural societies. District Tor Ghar is one of such remote and rugged mountainous region of the western Himalayas that has historically established tribal cultural values, traditions and customs. There is no evidence of previous qualitative or quantitative ethnobotanical research that tells something about culture of the region. Present PhD project was initiated by selecting a total of 43 villages from 5 tribal belts (Basikhel, Nusratkhel, Akazai, Hasanzai and Madakhel) using random table number method. 732 informants of all age groups were interviewed via semi-structured questionnaire method during the years 2012 and 2013. Group discussions, Ethnobotanical Participatory Appraisal (EPA) and extensive field visits were also arranged. Quantitative ethnobotanical techniques i.e., Informant Consensus Factor (ICF), Cultural Importance Index (CI), mean Cultural Importance Index (mCI) and Cultural Importance of Families (CIF) were used to report cultural diversity among 5 tribes of the region. The conservation stata of all culturally significant plant species were also assessed quantitatively by developing first time a special mathematical relation i.e., CS =K (OC+AV+CE)/TF x RPwhich was in harmony with IUCN criteria. Cluster Analysis (CA), Two Ways Cluster Analysis (TWCA) and Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA) were appliedtodraw and understand cultural gradient of the ethno-ecologically important species of the region using robust software packages PCORD version 5& CANACO version 4.5.Our findings show that 295 species of vascular plants providing 33 cultural services in the form of food, medicine, fodder, timber wood, fuel, cosmetics, aesthetic, spiritual and veterinary etc.Assessment of conservation status via newly developed formula confirmed 20 species as critically endangered, 35 as endangered, 56 as vulnerable, 58 near threatened (rare) and 126 least concerned(Secure). The use of multivariate statistics brought forward a pattern in large multivariate data sets to a presentable and structurally recognizable form. Findings based on CA, TWCA and DCA showed a cultural gradient among the various tribes of the region. There is a significant correlation on the plant use pattern and conservation management of Basikhel to Nusratkhel and Akazai to Hasanzai while a significant diversity of such patterns exist between Madakhel and the remaining tribes. The current study contributes to an enhanced understanding of ecosystem services in the Tor Ghar, cultural uses of mountain vegetation within the context of anthropogenic impacts and the role of indigenous culture in regional plant conservation strategies and priorities.
