Wheeled mobile robots (WMRs) are difficult to stabilize and control due to nonholonomic constraints. The complexity of control increases when there is a need to control a group of WMRs in a specific formation. The research described in the thesis concerns the modeling, control and formation of nonholonomic WMRs for trajectory tracking. In particular, this research work proposes novel control approaches for WMR trajectory tracking and formation control of multi-robot system. The kinematic model of WMR is studied, and then various kinematic controllers have been implemented to identify suitable kinematic controller for WMR trajectory tracking using performance based simulation results. The trajectory tracking problem is extended by including the dynamic model of WMR along with the model uncertainties and disturbances. A novel adaptive sliding mode state feedback control law is proposed for trajectory tracking, which includes the integral action and hence it is able to remove the steady state errors and reject the external disturbances. The proposed adaptive dynamic controller uses velocities as input commands, which is more practical and appropriate from the view-point of real-time application. The proposed dynamic state feedback controller requires all the states specially WMR linear and angular velocities. Therefore, the trajectory tracking control problem is addressed again in the context of output feedback control for WMR. The tracking formulation is defined with the high gain observer to estimate the linear and angular velocities. It is shown that using high gain observer and a globally bounded state feedback stabilizing controller, the close-loop system performance can be recovered in the presence of un-modeled dynamics. The formation control problem of vi multi-robot system is addressed using leader-follower formation approach. The kinematic model of the leader-follower formation is developed in the presence of uncertainties and disturbances. It is followed by an integral terminal sliding mode control for robust formation control and finite-time convergence. The proposed controller eliminates the requirement of leader’s velocity information which increases the reliability of multi-robot system. Obstacle detection and collision avoidance are incorporated to maintain the desired formation in the presence of obstacles. The stability analyses is carried out using Lyapunov stability theory. The performances are verified and validated using time invariant and time varying trajectories.

After the Prophet r the Muslims all over the world associate themselves with him by following his pious deeds and acting upon his sayings (Hadith). The Muslims of the sub-continent have been very zealous in this respect and have done great job in this regard. In the subcontinent, the sayings of the Holy Prophet reached with Islam during the era of pious caliphs. In those days, according to some traditions, 25 companions of the Holy Prophet ﷺ Sahaba (R. A) and 42 Tabe-ien (those who had seen the Sahaba R. A i-e their successors) came to India and preached Islam. This preaching was continued by later Muslims and the rulers like Mohammad Bin Qasim and Mehmood Ghaznavi. The services of great Muhaddeseen (narrators and illustrators of the sayings of the Holy Prophet r like Musa Bin Yaqoob, Yazid Bin Abi Kabsha, Abu Musa Israeel Bin Musa and Abu Hafs Rabi Bin Sabih are note worthy. They provided local people the knowledge of Hadith. These scholars earned fame and prestige by their great works in this field. Shah Waliuallah wrote Mussffa and Maswwa, in subcontinent there are great many institutions like Jamia Salfiya Faisalabad, Jamia Ashrafia Lahore, Jamia Naeemia Lahore, Khair- ul-Madaras Multan, Jamia Mohammadia Gujranwala, Dar-ul-Hadith Delhi and Jamia Salfiya Banaras to teach the knowledge of Hadith.

Steady Flow of Fluids With Variable Viscosity

Nanofluids have wide range applications in processes involving heat transfer due to their proficient thermal conductivity. Such fluids exhibit substantial viscosity variation with temperature. This dissertation presents oblique stagnation point flow of variable viscosity nanofluid over a stretching surface. Porous medium, magnetic field, heat generation, thermal radiation and homogeneous-heterogeneous effects along with partial slip, thermal slip and convective surface are considered. Micro-rotation phenomenon is also fused with nanofluid flow comprising micropolar nanofluid. Nanofluid thermal conductivity is estimated by Maxwell-Garnett model, Hamilton Crosser thermal conductivity model is also employed when shape effects of nanoparticles are considered. Flow problems are first modeled and afterwards converted to non-linear system of ODEs via appropriate similarity transformations. Numerical solutions are obtained via stable and efficient Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg scheme with shooting quadrature and Keller-Box scheme. The impact of key emerging dimensionless parameters on non-dimensional normal, tangential velocity constituents, temperature, shear stress (at wall), heat flux along with streamlines distribution is visualized by graphs.
