In the present research work cell lines of Oryza sativa cv. Swat-1 were incrementally adapted to osmotic (20 % PEG) and ion toxicity (20 mM LiCl) stresses to study the mechanisms of sequential tolerance and cross adaptation. The adapted cell lines were growing on respective stresses over a period of 55 passages and their tolerance was stable at least up to 6th generation on stress free medium. The physiological characterization of cell lines showed a substantial increase in proline and Ca++ levels and significant reduction in K+ and Mg++ contents on adaptation to PEG stress, while no prominent differences in accumulating organic and inorganic cytosolutes were observed between unadapted and LiCl adapted cell lines. Adaptation to PEG and LiCl was evident by appearance of six different polypeptides, among these four polypeptide bands 15, 17, 26 and 68 kDa were common, while, other two novel proteins 60 kDa, and 32 kDa were unique to PEG and LiCl adapted cell lines, respectively. None of these polypeptide were detectable in unadapted cell lines. At the molecular level the PCR amplification results using seven set of SSR primers for saltol region of chromosome 1 of rice revealed no polymorphism in adapted and unadapted cell lines. When adapted and unadapted cell lines were exposed to 200 mM NaCl with an iso-osmotic effect to 20 % PEG and an osmotic effect 10 times higher than 20 mM LiCl in addition to toxicity effects for two consecutive passages. The tolerance of both adapted lines was similar but significantly greater than tolerance of unadapted cells line. On exposure to subsequent second NaCl stress unadapted cells line failed to survive but the tolerance of adapted cell lines increased, expressing the phenomenon of sequential tolerance. Overall, no qualitative differences were observed among adapted and unadapted cell lines under salt stress. However, the patterns of response of adapted and unadapted cell lines to osmotic and ionic homeostasis to tolerate NaCl were greatly different. PEG adapted cells line appeared to acquire halophytic behavior of a salt accumulator, in contrast LiCl adapted line behaved like a typical salt tolerant glycophyte. Furthermore, the induced tolerance of adapted lines were not restricted to the same type of stress but showed cross tolerance towards other abiotic stresses.

Human being is the combination of two elements (body and soul). Soul is the eternal element in human being. Body of human is subordinate to disease and illness. Similarly soul can also get illness and inner disease. Human being visits doctors for cure and getting better physical health of body, likewise for the care and cure of the soul of human needs to have spiritual attachment, which is called tasawof. In Muslim society, it is believed that Tasawoof is confined to four categories (Salasil) i.e. Naqashbandiya, Chishtiya, Saharwardiya and Qadariya. In the same context it is also accepted that some other names of different salasil exist in different societies and books, which made the confusion in the  real picture and concept of Tasawof. This article is an attempt to find  these unfamiliar Salasil of tasawof and clarify their legal status. The researcher studied in this context which stated that tasawof is not restricted to the above mentioned four categories. The reason of less familiarization in the society is that the it was practiced by less followers at the time.

A Comparative Study of Public and Private Sector College Practitioners Professional Identity and Professional Learning Practices.

The study was conducted to compare public and private sector college practitioners’ professional identity and professional learning practices. The objectives of the study were: to compare college practitioners’ professional identity in public and private sector, to compare their professional learning practices, to examine practitioners’ views about the value of professional learning practices, to compare discrepancies in practitioners’ professional identity and professional learning practices, to compare discrepancies in practitioners’ learning practices and the level of values they give to these practices, to investigate practitioners’ views about effect nal identity with the reference of professional learning practices on institutional environment, to compare college practitioners’ views about continuous professional development activities for professional growth. The population of the study comprised male and female college practitioners serving in public and private colleges located in District Jehlum. The whole population was taken as sample of the study. Data were collected from 633 public and private sector college practitioners through disproportionate stratified sampling technique by using selfdeveloped questionnaire. Data were analyzed through Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) by applying independent sample t-test, paired sample t-test and One way ANOVA. Major findings of study were that there was no significant difference in professional identity of public and private sector practitioners; however, private sector college practitioners were found more concerned about in improving themselves; they were more interested in professional learning practices and gave more value to professional learning practices than public sector practitioners. Male practitioners’ professional identity level was found higher than females. No gender differences were found in professional leaning practices. It was concluded due to job security, public sector practitioners were no more interested in improving their practices. However, as the survival of private sector practitioners in organization depend upon their performance, so they were more interested in improving performance through professional learning practices. It was suggested that college practitioners, especially of public sector, may be provided training for enhancing professional identity and professional learning practices through collaboration with universities and Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
