Goat population is increasing at a faster rate (4%) than other co-existing livestock species in Pakistan. Four indigenous goat breeds of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan i.e. Gaddi, Damani, Kaghani and Surgoli were sampled from their home tracts for morphological and molecular characterization. A total of 120 samples (30 of each breed) were studied. Gaddi was of largest size manifested by large body length, chest girth, ear blade width, head length, heights and horn length and was the heaviest in weight compared to other breeds. Both Kaghani and Gaddi breeds have long and glossy hair with coat color of white, black or grey. Surgoli and Damani have medium hair, white, red, black or brown in colour. Most Kaghani and Gaddi have beards, less common in Surgoli and Damani. No wattle was observed in Kaghani or Gaddi breeds but present in Damani and Surgoli. All the four breeds have horns and no polled individual was seen. Morphologically Damani has screwed 56.7% and Gaddi have curved horns 66.7% while Kaghani and Damani have 83.3% and 43.3% spiral horns respectively. Gaddi and Kaghani showed better performance as compared to Damani and Surgoli especially in terms of milk and meat production. Total of 30 SSR markers were used of which 24 were amplified. In total 130 alleles were detected. Surgoli was the most diverse breed and the least was Gaddi. Mean number of alleles, effective number of alleles and unique alleles were 5.42, 3.89 and 11 respectively. Average genetic diversity was 0.689, the highest in Surgoli i.e. 0.7228.F indics (FIT), (FST) and FIS were calculated as 0.706, 0.075 and 0.670 respectively. All pair wise estimate of population differentiation was significant P<0.05. Mean Nm (gene flow) value was 2.92 migrants per generation. Average observed and expected heterozygosity was 0.219 and 0.727 respectively. PIC of 0.585 showed that most markers are highly polymorphic. Allelic richness ranged from 4.00 to 4.71. The Bottle neck analysis showed that Gaddi, Damani and Surgoli were in a state of mutation drift equilibrium while Kaghani deviated from mutation drift equilibrium. This instability of the population is an evidence of genetic bottleneck. Phenotypic and molecular characterization of animals is much needed for conservation and designing improvement strategy for these genetic resources of a country.

۔منکرین آخرت و رسالت سے تخاطب اور استفہامی اسلوب

 ایمان بالآخرة یا عقیدہ آخرت ارکانِ ایمان میں سے ایک رکن ہے ، قرآن مجید میں منکرین آخرت و رسالت کو اس اہم حقیقیت کیلئے دلائل دیتے ہوئے اللہ تعالیٰ نے استفہامی اسلوب کو اختیار کیا ہے،ذیل میں عقیدہ آخرت کے بارے میں آیات استفہام پیش کی جا رہی ہیں:

۱-سورة المآئدہ میں ارشاد باری تعالیٰ ہے:

"يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَيَقُولُ مَاذَآ أُجَبْتُمْ قَالُواْ لاَ عِلْمَ لَنَآ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلاَّمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ"۔[[1]]

"جس دن اللہ جمع کرے گا سب پیغمبروں کو پھر کہے گا تم کو کیا جواب ملا تھا؟ وہ کہیں گے ہم کو خبر نہیں تو ہی چھپی باتوں کو جاننے والا ہے"۔

 ابن جریر طبریؒ اس آیت کی تفسیر سے متعلق رقمطراز ہیں:

“'وہ دن کیسا ہولناک ہوگا جس روز اللہ تعالیٰ تمام پیغمبروں کو مع ان کی امتوں کے جمع کریں گے اس دن اول سے آخر تک پیدا ہونے والے سب انسان اس میدان میں حاضر ہونگے اور سب سے انکے عمر بھر کے اعمال کا حساب لیا جائے گا اللہ تعالیٰ فرمائیں گے کہ اے نبیوں جب تم نے اپنی قوم کو دین حق کی طرف بلایا تھا تو انہوں نے کیا جواب دیا تھا؟اس سوال کے مخاطب اگرچہ انبیاء کرام ہونگے مگر سنانا امتوں کو ھوگا انبیاء کرام عرض کریں گے کہ اے اللہ! بظاہر تو ہم کو جو معلوم ہیں وہ بیان کر دیں گے مگر انکے دل میں جو کچھ ہے اسکی ہمیں خبر نہیں اس کو آپ ہی جانتے ہیں کیونکہ بیشک آپ پوشیدہ باتوں کے پورے جاننے والے ہیں ہم لاعلم ہیں اور انبیاء کرام صرف اپنی...

The history of Muslim Education reveals that there was no difference of materialistic and religious education in the past. However, for the last two centuries, Muslim world divided into many ideologies which consequently produced separate educational institutions for every ideology. In the secular/modern educational institutions, religious and metaphysical studies are missing while, on the other hand, religious seminaries focus on the pure religious education. In such a situation, two kinds of students are graduating from our educational institutions which do not have congruence in practical life with each other. Present Muslim world in dire need of a comprehensive educational system combining the modern secular and religious subjects in an appropriate manner. Currently, if Islamic world is distressed technologically at one hand, it is divided in many sects, on the other. Therefore, acquisition of scientific and religious, both kinds of education are required for Muslims. In the present paper, the responsibilities of Muslim world are discussed to face the current and future challenges from educational perspective in order to portray a true picture of Islam and its followers.

Diagnostically Lossless Compression of Medical Images

Medical images are very important for diagnostics and therapy. However, digital imaging generates large amounts of data which need to be compressed, without loss of relevant information, to economize storage space and allow speedy transfer. In this research three techniques are implemented for medical image compression, which provide high compression ratios with no loss of diagnostic quality. Different image modalities are employed for experiments in which X-rays, MRI, CT scans, Ultrasounds and Angiograms are included. The proposed schemes are evaluated by comparing with existing standard compression techniques like JPEG, lossless JPEG2000, LOCOI and Huffman Coding. In a medical image only a small region is diagnostically relevant while the remaining image is much less important. This is called Region of Interest (ROI). The first approach compresses the ROI strictly losslessly and the remaining regions of the image with some loss. In the second approach an image is first compressed at a high compression ratio but with loss, and the difference image is then compressed losslessly. Difference image contain less data and is compressed more compactly than original. Third approach exploits inter-image redundancy for similar modality and same part of human body. More similarity means less entropy which leads to higher compression performance. The overall compression ratio is combination of lossy and lossless compression ratios. The resulting compression is not only strictly lossless, but also expected to yield a high compression ratio. These techniques are based on self designed Neural Network Vector Quantizer (NNVQ) and Huffman coding. Their clever combination is used to get lossless effect. These are spatial domain techniques and do not require frequency domain transformation. i An overall compression ratio of 6-14 is obtained for images with proposed methods. Whereas, by compressing same images by a lossless JPEG2K and Huffman, compression ratio of 2 is obtained at most. The main contribution of the research is higher compression ratios than standard techniques in lossless scenario. This result will be of great importance for data management in a hospital and for teleradiology.
