The present research work was designed to increase the bioavailability and cardioprotective potential of three important medicinal plants (Curcuma longa, Ginkgo biloba and Coriandrum sativum). This project was divided into different phases. In first phase of study, nanosuspensions of selected medicinal plants were prepared by choosing an appropriate stabilizer. Formulation conditions of nanosuspensions were optimized with response surface methodology. In second phase of study, optimized nanosuspensions of plants extract were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). In third phase of study, in-vitro drug release and pharmacokinetics of coarse and optimized nanosuspensions of plants extract were evaluated. In fourth phase of study, comparative bioactivities (cardioprotective potential, thrombolytic, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities) of coarse and nanosuspensions of plants were determined. Results of stabilizer screening selected sodium lauryl sulphate (stabilizer) for the preparation of nanosuspensions of selected plants. Optimized nanosuspensions of C. longa, G. biloba and C. sativum were prepared with mean particle size of 85.41 nm, 139.5 nm and 72.08 nm respectively. AFM also confirmed that particle sizes of all optimized nanosuspensions were in nanosize-range. FTIR analysis showed interaction between C. longa and stabilizer and no-interaction between other studied plants and stabilizer. In-vitro drug release and pharmacokinetics study revealed greater dissolution and bioavailability of optimized nanosuspensions of plants in comparison to their coarse suspensions/extracts. Nanosuspensions of plants showed better cardioprotective potential with reduced dose as compared to their coarse suspensions. In preventive mode of treatment, four-fold greater doses of coarse suspension of C. longa, G. biloba and double dose of coarse suspension of C. sativum were required to normalize the salbutamol elevated levels of cardiac enzymes and lipids in comparison to their nanosuspensions. Antimicrobial, thrombolytic and antioxidant activities of plants were also enhanced in nanosuspension preparation. Moreover, optimized nanosuspensions were found fairly stable for a period of three months and cytotoxicity study revealed no harmful effects of formulated nanosuspensions.

اردو دنیا میں اس وقت جناب رام لعل کا ماتم بپا ہے، وہ اردو کے اچھے اہل قلم اور ممتاز افسانہ نگار تھے، ان کا آبائی وطن مغربی پنجاب میں میانوی تھا، لاہور میں تعلیم ہوئی اور یہیں سے ان کی ادبی و تحریری زندگی کا آغاز ہوا۔ تقسیم ہند کے بعد ہندوستان آئے اور ریلوے میں ملازم ہوئے، کچھ عرصہ دہلی میں گزرا پھر لکھنؤ آئے اور اندرانگر میں مستقل بودوباش اختیار کرلی۔ وہ لکھنؤ کی ہر ادبی و تہذیبی سرگرمی کا جز ہوگئے تھے۔ افسانہ نگاری ان کا خاص میدان تھا، انہوں نے پاکستان اور بعض مغربی ملکوں کا سفر بھی کیا جن کے سفرنامے بھی لکھے۔ ’’زردپتوں کی بہار‘‘ اور ’’خواب خواب سفر‘‘ اردو کے مقبول سفرنامے سمجھے جاتے ہیں۔ رام لعل صاحب کو ادبی خدمات کے صلے میں قومی سطح کے متعدد اعزاز حاصل ہوئے۔ پاکستان سے ملنے والے ایوارڈ کی رقم پاکستانیوں کو نذر کردی۔ وہ قرطاس و قلم سے ہی سروکار نہیں رکھتے تھے بلکہ بڑے عملی شخص بھی تھے۔ ان ہی کی دعوت پر لکھنؤ میں غیرمسلم اردو مصنفین کی عظیم الشان کانفرنس ہوئی۔ کل ہند اردو رابطہ کمیٹی کا قیام ان کی جدوجہد کا نتیجہ تھا، جس کے وہی صدر تھے، اس کے لئے انہوں نے پروفیسر ملک زادہ منظور احمد کے ساتھ پورے صوبے کا دورہ کیا اور اردو کو دوسری زبان بنانے کی کامیاب مہم چلائی۔ اردو اکادمی اترپردیش کے وائس چیرمین اور فخرالدین علی احمد میموریل کمیٹی کے چیرمین بھی رہے، رام لعل جی اردو کی ہر مہم میں شریک رہتے اور اسے قوت پہنچاتے۔ اردو کے ایسے محسن کی موت اس کا بہت بڑا سانحہ ہے۔

Islam has borne a deep and lasting impact on all aspects of human life. Inevitably language, which is a crucial factor in the build-up of society, has also been re-vitalized and re-invigorated by Islam. It was Arabia where Islam dawned its early rays, hence it is the Arabic language that got evolved under the revolutionary spirit of Islam. This deep impact has been caused through the two basic sources of Islam i. e. Quran and Hadith. Since our focus is Hadith, hence we shall talk on the impact of Hadith on the Arabic language. Hadith has a lasting influence on the Arabic language, its literature, and the various genres of the Arabic literature. The topmost among these diverse genres that dramatically evolved under the impact of Islam is 'letter writing'. The genre of letter writing has been passing through its evolutionary stages before the Prophet-hood of Muhammad (S. A. W) . Yet the clarity and style that it adopted; the purposefulness that it aspired and opted for; and its utility as an important official correspondence document all happened in the hands of our Holy Prophet (S. A. W) . In short, it turned into a regular genre of literature. Letter-writing owes deeply to the life infusing spirit of our Holy Prophet (S. A. W) for its lay-out and design, its aim and purpose, and basic features. Our Holy Prophet (S. A. W) left a lasting impact on the letter writing that shall always be a source of inspiration for the faithful.

Effect of Teaching Physics With Physics Suite on the Achievement of Secondary School Students

Teaching of Physics with Physics Suite describes a variety of tools for improving both teaching and learning, including new kinds of homework and exam problems, and ways of assessing the level of understanding in your class. It aims to help educators learn to be more effective at teaching Physics. The Physics Suite is much more than a text with a collection of ancillaries developed after the fact. The Physics Suite builds on integrating a series of strong activity-based elements with the text. The Physics Suite focuses on getting students to learn to do what they need to do to learn physics. In the Physics Suite, the Activity-Based Physics (ABP) Group is creating a new kind of educational environment. The major objectives of the study were to examine: (i) the relative effects of teaching Physics with Physics Suite instruction on the academic achievement of secondary school students in the subject of Physics; (ii) the difference between treatment effects for the students of high and low level of intelligence/achievement. To achieve the objectives of the study nine null hypotheses were tested. The students of 9th class of the same school were selected as sample of the study. Sample students were divided into two groups i.e. experimental group and control group on the basis of previous results by applying pair random sampling. In order to secure data, post-test was administered to the experimental as well as control group. There were two different treatment patterns in the methods of teaching. Two teachers with same qualification and experience were selected to teach experimental and the control groups. Before starting the experiment, teachers were familiarized with the methods they were going to adopt. The treatment was given for continuous six week. After the treatment was over, a teacher-made post test was administered for the collection of data. After obtaining the scores, the means, standard deviations and difference of means was computed. Significance of difference between the mean scores of both the groups was tested by applying t-test. To see the treatment effects for the students of high and low levels of intelligence; and for male and female students, the factorial design (2x2) analysis of variance was applied. The students of experimental group performed significantly better than those of control group on the post-test which proved that teaching of physics with the physics suite was more effective than the traditional method of teaching physics to secondary school students. Students of high achievement level who were taught physics with physics suite performed significantly better than those who were taught through traditional approach on the post-test. Though students of low achievement level taught physics with physics suite performed significantly better on post-test than those who were taught by traditional method but a significant difference was also found between the performance of low achievers of experimental group and control group on previous test. Teaching of physics with physics suite has proved its worth through this study, therefore, a well equipped computer laboratory with internet facilities should be established in each school where physics is being taught as an elective subject. Concepts related with teaching of physics with physics suite be incorporated in the teacher education curriculum for pre-service teacher education and for teacher already in the system, in-service courses should be arranged and such type of training be made obligatory for physics teachers. Future studies be planned having male- female students in the sample. Experiment with greater number of students from different secondary schools representing wider range of intelligence be planned to further support the results of this study.
