This thesis is based on a geometrical/physical analysis of the conserved quantities/forms related to each Noether symmetry of the geodetic Lagrangian of plane symmetric and spherically symmetric spacetimes. We present a complete list of such metrics along with their Noether symmetries of the geodetic Lagrangian. The conserved quantities corresponding to each Noether symmetry are obtained. Thereafter, a detailed discussion of the geometrical and physical interpretation of these quantities is given. Additionally, the structure constants of the associated Lie algebras are obtained for each case. Furthermore, we find the Ricci tensors to see which metrics are gravitational wave solutions and the scalar curvatures are obtained in each case to analyze the essential singularities. The stress-energy tensors and their traces are obtained in each case as these are the sources of spacetime curvature. The last part of this thesis is to use the symmetries to obtain the invariant solutions whenever possible. The problem of constructing the optimal system has been be used to classify invariant solutions. We intend to find the one-dimensional optimal systems of the Lie subalgebras for the system of geodesic equations by using Noether symmetries. Further, we find the invariants corresponding to each element of the optimal system. These invariants enable one to reduce the system of geodesic equations (nonlinear system of 2nd order ordinary differential equations (ODEs)) to a system of first order ODEs. The resulting systems are solved via known methods (e.g., separation of variables, integrating factor etc). In some cases, we are able to get exact solutions of the system of geodesic equations.

The Rationale for Colonialism: Akbar’s Dream (Notes)

Akbar’s Dream [1892] is among the last poems of Alfred, Lord Tennyson – Poet-Laureate of Britain. It was composed when the British Empire was at its apex of territorial expansion and Queen Victoria was the Empress of India. It is reflective of the position of Tennyson as PoetLaureate – whose ‘official’ task was to celebrate the achievements and other notable events of Britain. Tennyson was an ultra-conservative person who believed that Britain was doing a favour to the peoples they had conquered and subjugated. This was intended for their benefit so as to advance them in the scale of civilization.

A Data Management Framework for Mobile Ad Hoc Network Manet

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is defined as an infrastructure-less network created spontaneously among a set of nodes. Data management is an issue of prime concern in MANET because of the massive amount of data exchanges among hosts of the network. Data management requires novel mechanisms to confront with issues of data discovery, data representation and cache management etc. To address them, this thesis has proposed a framework called Association Rules Based Network Layer Data and Information Management System for Mobile Ad hoc Network (ALADIN). The novelty of ALADIN lies in utilization of cross-layer design, correlation among data items and semantic data representation. The cross-layer information is utilized for data discovery and maintaining consistency of cached data. The correlation among data items is exploited for cache replacement and enhancing the performance of discovery phase. A multilevel ontology is utilized for ensuring the semantic interoperability among nodes in scalable fashion. The framework has been implemented in JIST/SWANS simulator. A set of experiments with different network settings and mobility models has been done to evaluate the framework. The results show the improvement in hit ratio, latency and scalability of the data management operations with the proposed framework.
