This research project has designed for the phyto-monitoring of metal pollution resulting from automobiles running along Motorway (M-2) and G. T. Road and its effects on the morpho-physiological attributes of vegetation growing along these roads. Data regarding contents of metals in the soil dust, fuel, vehicular exhaust and in the leaves of selected plant species growing along both roads was collected. Various morpho-physiological and biochemical attributes of these plant species were observed to note the effect of metal pollution. The traffic density and metal content in the fuel (petrol & diesel) being sold by different oil distributing companies was noted. The data was taken at specified sites and time intervals during the four seasons of the year. The data collected was statistically analyzed to examine spatio-temporal variation in the extent of metal pollution on both roads and its adverse effects on selected plant species.
