Keeping in view the newly discovered role of nitric oxide in plant growth, development and salt tolerance, an initial experiment was carried out for optimization of nitric oxide concentrations, which were most effective in improving the seed germination rate and early seedlings growth in rice under saline stress. Pre-sowing seed treatment with varying levels (0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 mM) of nitric oxide was applied to seeds of four rice cultivars (Shaheen Basmati, Basmati PB-95, KS-282 and IRRI-6), which were subjected to two levels (0 and 80 mM) of salt stress. Salt stress markedly inhibited the seed germination attributes and early seedlings growth in all four rice cultivars. Of all nitric oxide levels 0.5 mM was slightly effective, however, 0.1 and 0.2 mM were most effective in improving seed germination attributes and early seedlings growth of salt stressed rice plants. The both levels (0.1 and 0.2 mM), which were found relatively more effective in first experiment, were used in the yield experiment to study the regulatory role of nitric oxide on various growth, physiological and biochemical attributes of salt stressed rice plants. In this experiment both pre-sowing seed treatment and foliar spray modes were adopted for exogenous addition of nitric oxide to salt stressed rice plants. Salt stress caused a marked suppression growth, chlorophyll content, gas exchange attributes, chlorophyll fluorescence, uptake of essential nutrients, total phenolics and yield content while increased tissue Na+ and Cl- , proline, ascorbic acid, MDA, H2O2 and the activity of antioxidant enzymes including CAT, POD and SOD in all four rice cultivars. Of both nitric oxide levels, 0.1 mM was relatively more effective in improving growth and physiological attributes of salt stressed rice plants as compared to 0.2 mM. Of all four rice cultivars, Shaheen Basmati and IRRI-6 performed better for chlorophyll content, gas exchange attributes and activity of enzymatic antioxidants (SOD, POD and CAT), while KS-282 and IRRI-6 performed better for, total phenolics and yield content. Overall, exogenous nitric oxide treatment was effective in improving fresh and dry biomasses (in both shoots and roots), chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, water relation attributes, K+/Na+ ratio, Ca2+ content, activity of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants and proline content, while in decreasing Na+ and Cl- ions, MDA and H2O2 content.

افسوس ہے پچھلے دنوں مولانا آزاد سبحانی کا۷۵ برس کی عمر میں گورکھ پور میں انتقال ہوگیا۔مرحوم کااصل نام عبدالقادر اوروطن سکندر پور ضلع بَلیاتھا۔ادھر ایک مدت سے گمنامی کی زندگی بسر کررہے تھے۔ورنہ تحریکِ خلافت کے زمانہ میں پورے ہندوستان میں ان کی شہرت کاطوطی بولتا تھا۔فلسفہ والٰہیات کے فاضل تھے۔ خطابت وتقریرمیں بعض حیثیتوں سے اپنا جواب نہیں رکھتے تھے۔ شاعر بھی تھے۔مرحوم کی ایک غزل بچپن میں کبھی پڑھی تھی جواب تک یاد ہے:
پیام آیا ہے پیمانِ جفا کا
یجہ کھل گیا جوشِ وفا کا
نِکل آؤ ذرا پردہ سے باہر
عقیدہ مٹ رہا ہے اب خدا کا
مزاجِ لااُبالی اور جوانی
خدا حافظ ہے ناموسِ حیا کا
خدا پر چھوڑ دو انجامِ کشتی
قدم کیوں درمیاں ہو ناخدا کا
حدیثِ ضبط پروانہ ہے بے وقت
زمانہ ہے فغانِ برمَلا کا
ترا آزادؔ پھر پابندِ غم ہے
ہ پھر محتاج ہے لطف و عطا کا
لیکن افسوس ہے اپنی صلاحیتوں اورکمالات سے اسلام اور مسلمانوں کو جو فائدہ پہنچا سکتے تھے اپنی طبیعت کے عدم استقلال اور تلون کی وجہ سے نہ پہنچا سکے۔ بحیثیت مجموعی بڑی خوبیوں کے انسان تھے۔الّٰلھم اغفرلہ وارحمہ ۔

Allama Badr_ul_Din Al-Aaini was a distinguished Islamic Scholar of 8 A.H. He was at the same time an interpreter, Muhadis, a Jurist, and a Historian. He was recognized to be a great Jurist, a Muhadis and a praise worthy man by his contemporary scholars and Jurists. His contributions towards the Muslim Ummah are very comprehensive and valuable. Networking of Professional Development Teachers Pdt : Processes, Successes and Challenges

‘’An abstract can offer a valuable opportunity to inform a wide audience, to capture potential readers, and to expand your own interactive professional network. Whether others will pursue their reading may depend largely on their assessment of your abstract’’. (Wolcott, 1990 cited in Silverman, 2000; p. 223). Professional Development Teachers (PDTs) have a demanding role in their respective education systems and their role perception in general is not confined to only a practicing classroom teacher but more than that. This study seeks to explore as how PDTs, in a semi-private education system, came to work together to benefit their own system schools from their expertise and learning from the graduate programme at AKU-IED. The study looks into the processes, successes and challenges of a team effort or network structure of the PDTs in a semi-private education system. The significant purpose of this network is building capacity and facilitating the process of teaching and learning in the system schools. The study will delve into how this effort leads to school improvement and what were the facilitating factors and challenges of this teamwork structure. Literature from the perspective of network structure, professional development and school improvement provides a theoretical framework. The study aims to investigate and capture the reactions of the research participants in their natural setting. To conduct this study a semi-private education system was identified where the PDTs were found working together. Research data is collected by means of interviews, observations, shadowing (non-participatory observations) and document analysis. The result of the systematic data collection and analysis enabled the researcher to derive the themes, which describe the network process. The themes contributed to and link with some theory enabling conclusions to be drawn from the research. Finally the implications of the study are discussed together with recommendations and suggestions. Working together is a facilitative approach as well as a challenging task and there is a need to set some common vision that leads to some purposive structure formation. To realize the vision, identifying the potential group of people and designing a progress plan are important factors along with the basic requirements of resources, opportunities and rewards/incentives.
