Pakistan is an energy deficient country, where a large fraction of the population still does not have access to modern day energy services such as electricity. This is due to very limited fossil fuel resources and poor economy, which restrains the import of fossil fuels on a large scale. To overcome energy shortage, Pakistan needs to develop its indigenous energy resources like hydropower, solar and wind. Pakistan lies in an area of one of the highest solar insulation in the world. This vast potential can be exploited to produce electricity, which could be provided to off-grid communities in the northern hilly areas and the southern and western deserts. Applications other than electricity production such as solar water heaters and solar cookers have also vast applications. All this will help in both reducing the import of fossil fuels and dependency of people on fuel wood, which in turn will provide some respite for the dwindling forest reserves of Pakistan. Accordingly, the status and outlook of solar energy use in Pakistan is discussed. In addition, the role of Rand D organizations in the promotion of solar energy technologies in Pakistan is also presented including a description of some proposed projects. It is concluded that the current infrastructure has not been able to advance the status of solar energy in Pakistan. Significant efforts are needed to effectively utilize this cheap renewable energy source. Solar power is a term that refers to several alternative sources of energy by which sun-light is harnessed to do useful work for mankind. People know that it is energy since the same alone implies this but man people think it is expensive and not a preferred method of producing energy. We need to find out how cost effective it is how useful solar power technologies involves the use of photovoltaic cells. Which is true to their name (Photo-light, Voltaic-electricity), converts sunlight directly when light strikes the photovoltaic cell. When the energy breaks the bound between electrons and the semiconductor atoms this allows the electrons to flow freely. Photovoltaic cells can have one or many electric fields that force electrons to glow in a certain direction. The glow on electrons is called current and by placing metal contacts on top and bottom of the photovoltaic cell, we can then use that current externally. “HOW SOLAR CELL WORK” it is the development of photovoltaic cell started by Becquerels discovery in 1839. The system and devices are developed during this work will prevent CO2, CO, NO and SO2 from entering the atmosphere and there by keeping the atmosphere clean from poisonous affects of these gases and harmful. In the absence of Carbon Dioxide in the solar energy usage is helpful in eliminating green house effect. The main and important point of solar electricity is that it is free from pollution.

بعض اتفاقات بھی عجیب ہوتے ہیں، پچھلے رسالہ میں مسٹر صلاح الدین خدابخش (جن کو اب مرحوم کہنا پڑتا ہے) کی بعض تحریروں کا گلہ کیا گیا تھا۔ ابھی وہ رسالہ چھپ کر تیار ہی ہوا تھا کہ کلکتہ سے ان کی اچانک وفات کی خبر آئی، اﷲ تعالیٰ ان پر رحم فرمائے اور اپنی مغفرت سے سرفراز کرے، ان کے قلم سے گو ایسی باتیں مستشرقین یورپ کی ترجمانی میں اکثر نکلتی رہیں، تاہم انکی ایسی پرجوش مخالفت قوم میں پہلے کبھی نہیں ہوئی، جیسی اس وفعہ ہوئی اور اس کے اثر کے سامنے ان کو مجبوراًمسلم آؤٹ لک لاہور میں اپنا معذرت نامہ شائع کرنا پڑا، جس میں محمد رسول اﷲ صلی اﷲ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ اپنی گہری عقیدت اور مستشرقانہ الزامات کی بے حقیقی کا اعتراف اور ان کے جوابات کے لئے اپنی بعض تصنیفات کا حوالہ درج تھا، کس کو خبر تھی کہ ان کا یہ معذرت نامہ حقیقت میں ان کی پوری عمر کا آخری توبہ نامہ ثابت ہوگا، لیکن حسن خاتمہ کی توفیق دینے والے کی حکمتوں اور مصلحتوں کو کون سمجھ سکتا ہے؟

مرحوم خدابخش خان سابق چیف جسٹس عدالت عالیہ، حیدرآباد دکن اور بانی کتب خانۂ مشرقی بانکی پور کے فرزند ارجمند تھے، علم کی محبت باپ سے ورثہ میں پائی تھی، بیرسٹر تھے، کلکتہ میں پریکٹس کرتے تھے، جرمن زبان سے جرمن مستشرقین کی کتابوں اور مضمون کے ترجمے انگریزی میں کرتے رہتے تھے، اب ان کی کتابوں میں اسلام کے متعلق جو کچھ بھلی بری باتیں ہوتی تھیں وہ ان کو اسی طرح رہنے دیتے تھے، اس لئے کبھی کبھی ان میں نہایت زہریلا مواد ملا ہوتا تھا، شعر و شاعری سے بھی دلچسپی تھی۔

TO COMPARE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TRUNK STABILIZATION EXERCISE AND GENERAL EXERCISE IN NON-SPECIFIC CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN-A COMPARATIVE STUDY

Aim of study: To identify the effectiveness of particular trunk stabilization versus a general exercise in low back pain management. Methodology: An experimental study was conducted at the physiotherapy department of Dow University of Health Sciences, 52 participants with low backache were enrolled and assessed for pain intensity using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and disability by using the Modified Oswestry Low Back Disability Index (MOLBDQ-I). Through equal randomization one group got their low back pain treated through trunk stabilization exercises while the other with general exercises, 3times/week* 4weeks. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 by applying non-parametric Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: This study demonstrated that males and females are equally affected by chronic low back pain. Trunk stabilizing and general exercise regimes both significantly reduced the pain and disability in the study population but the effectiveness of trunk stabilizing exercises were significantly superior in reducing pain. Limitations and Future Implications: Study did not include a control group that received no intervention. It would be valuable to assess the cost-effectiveness of trunk stabilization exercises compared to general exercises or other interventions. Originality: Trunk stabilizing exercises are superior in reducing pain, disability, and restoring functional mobility than general exercises in chronic back pain. Conclusion: Trunk stabilizing exercises are superior in reducing pain, disability, and restoring functional mobility than general exercises in chronic back pain.

Chromophoric Nitroso, Azo, Schiff Base Transition Metal Complexes, Synthesis and Studies

This endeavor deals with the investigation of the Chromophoric nitroso, azo, Schiff base and transition metal complexes. In the first part of this dissertation, Schiff bases were designed, synthesized and characterized by contemporary techniques. These Schiff bases exhibited absorptions in visible region, i.e 393-405 nm. Metal complexes of these Schiff were synthesized using d-block transition metal ions and these complexes showed bathochromic shift with respect to Schiff base ligands and their absorptions were appeared at 410-455 nm. Anticancer activity was found to be good in case of palladium and copper complexes. Electrochemical analysis revealed that these Schiff bases and their complexes behave as oxidizing agents. Heterocyclic pyrazolone azo dyes were successfully synthesized. Newly synthesized dyes were characterized by UV-Visible, FTIR, and NMR, elemental analysis studies and their exhaustion, fixation and fastness properties have also been explored. Heterocyclic (pyrazolone) azo dyes have been prepared by changing the reaction pathway. In these dyes, first azo dyes are synthesized from different active methylene compounds and then their heterocycles have been synthesized by treating them with different hydrazines. Application of heterocyclic dyes on leather showed high light fastness, wash fastness and rub fastness values such as 4-5, 4-5 and 3-4 respectively, which are moderate to good. Exhaustion and fixation values of these dyes are also very high on account of their high attraction and substantivity with cotton fibers exception being those few dyes which lack suitable functional groups for interaction. Furthermore, the dyes containing sulfonic and methyl substituents exhibited an incredible degree of levelness after washing demonstrating the good diffusion and excellent affinity to the fabric. Chromium (III) complexes of these dyes were prepared and they showed high fastness properties as compared to ligand azo dyes. Nitrosopyrazolones were synthesized from newly synthesized pyrazolones and their metal complexes were prepared and characterized by contemporary techniques. Electrochemical and biological study of these compounds and metal complexes were conducted and promising results were obtained. The geometries of all the complexes were determined by the help of slope ratio method through UV-Visible spectroscopy.
