A chemical library of N, N''-Disubstituted thioureas have been derived from substituted aromatic carboxylic acids and two types of combinatorial strategies have been employed for the construction of chemical library. For high throughput screening of components of the chemical library, solution-phase pool syntheses have been exercised, where each pool consists of four components. All the members of chemical library have also been synthesized by using a parallel mode of solution-phase combinatorial synthesis for the purpose of lead screening/identification, testing, characterization and for assembling of Cu(I), Cu(II) & Pd(II) metal complexes. Copper(I) (1A-19A, 1B-19B, 1C-19C& 1F) and palladium(II) [(1E-14E)] complexes of N, N''-disubstituted thioureas have only been synthesized with some selected thioureas from sub-library-1 and Cu(II) complexes (1D-6D) with isoureas (1-6), prepared from the thioureas derived from benzoic acid. All the thioureas (1a-40a, 1b-40b, 1c-40c, 1d-40d, 1e-40e, 1f-40f & 1g-40g) and complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR, 1 H & 13 C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and single crystal XRD. The stability of the Cu(I) complexes in the test medium has been confirmed by cyclic voltammetric studies. The products of pool syntheses (pools 1-40) have been characterized by mass spectrometry and GC-MS (gas chromatograph coupled with mass spectrometer) techniques. In all the Cu(I) and Pd(II) complexes, neutral N, N′-disubstituted thiourea ligands have been coordinated to the metal atom through the sulphur atom in a terminal mode except (1F), where the deprotonation of NH group of the thiourea ligand has facilitated the bonding of copper atom through N and S. The isoureas (1-6) show bidentate behavior in Cu(II) complexes having square planar geometry (1D-6D). The thioureas have also been examined for their fungicidal properties and these show significant activity against various fungi strains and low phytotoxicity for the representative monocot plant species. The complexes have been screened for their in vitro cytotoxicity in human cell lines carcinomas A498 (renal), EVSA-T (breast), H226 (lung), IGROV (ovarian), M19 (melanoma-skin), MCF-7 (breast) and WIDR (colon). They show a moderate cytotoxicity against these seven human cancer cell lines in comparison to that of the less active standard chemotherapeutic drugs. Biological screening of the synthesized thioureas and their metal complexes for various targets is in progress.

Pengaruh Konsep Diri dan Disiplin Belajar terhadap Motivasi Belajar Peserta Didik di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 4 Palu Pada Mata Pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam

The purpose of this study is to find out the significant effect of self-concept on learning motivation of VII grade students in SMP Negeri 4 Palu on Islamic Religious Education subjects, (2) knowing the effect of learning discipline on learning motivation of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Palu in the eyes of Islamic Religious Education subjects and (3) determine the effect of self-concept and learning discipline on learning motivation of grade VII students in SMP Negeri 4 Palu on Islamic Religious Education subjects. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study were 220 class VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Palu. The sample was determined using proportional random sampling technique using a formula developed by Isaac and Michael, so that a sample of 135 students was obtained. Primary data were obtained using a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis, and regression tests using simple regression and multiple regression. The results showed that (1) There was a significant influence between self-concept on learning motivation of VII grade students in SMP Negeri 4 Palu on Islamic Religious Education subjects, with a significance level of 5%, the magnitude of the effect of self-concept variables on students' learning motivation was 0, 615 means having a high influence (2) There is a significant influence between learning discipline on learning motivation of VII grade students in SMP Negeri 4 Palu on Islamic Religious Education subjects, with a significance level of 5%, the magnitude of the effect of the discipline of learning variables on motivation student learning is 0, 565, (3) There is a significant influence between self-concept and learning discipline on learning motivation of grade VII students in SMP Negeri 4 Palu on Islamic Religious Education subjects, with a significance level of 5%, the high influence of concept variables self and discipline of learning towards learning motivation of VII grade students of SMP Nege ri 4 Palu in Islamic Religious Education subjects is 0, 615. The contribution of self-concept variables and learning discipline to learning motivation variables is R2 x 100% or 0, 6152 x 100% = 37.9%, the remaining 62.1% is determined by other variables outside of this study include the level of interest, talent, attention, parenting parents and others.

Career Development in a Learning Organization

Thesis title: Career Development in a Learning Organization This study is focused on identifying the facilitating role of the learning organizations in the process of individuals’ careers development. The research has undertaken the study of the part of the process of Organizational Development, where capacity development in terms of Career Development of the staff is carried out to enhance the capabilities of the organization. The study establishes the fact that if the objectives of the two processes are merged together then a synergetic effect is created which enhances the pace of both the process. The theoretical framework of this study has taken career development as dependent variable, Organizational Development strategies is the Independent Variable. This study analyzes the reliance of the introduction of knowledge sharing strategy of OD on the individual capacity development. The main construct of this study is to see the significance of the correlation between the processes of career development and Organizational Development. The theoretical frame work has been studied in two different context i.e the learning organizations’ and the conventional organization and a comparative analysis of the two have been carried out establishing certain results. Keeping in view the qualitative nature of the study, three different tools have been employed by this study including Participant Observation, Questionnaire and Structured interviews. The conclusion of the study indicated that the Learning Organizations context is more supportive to the process of career development as compared to the Conventional context. It was also concluded that the management of both the organizations are undoubtedly clear about the positive contribution of the capacity development process to organization’s benefit but the role performed by the management in these two different context is different from each other. The recommendations of this study include a model for integrating HR activities of the organization with the career development process.
