The Trans Indus ranges constitute the western end of the frontal ranges that border the active foreland fold-and-thrust belt of the Himalaya in North Pakistan. Over 200 line km of 2D seismic data and sub-surface information of seven wells drilled in the surrounding areas have been integrated with surface geological information in order to understand the structural evolution of the Trans Indus ranges. Cambrian to Eocene platform succession unconformably overlain by a thick pile of fluviatile molasse deposits outcrop along the Trans-Indus ranges. The Trans-Indus ranges display pronounced structural swings in plan view, giving rise to a pair of re- entrants known under the name of Kalabagh and Tank. Both these re-entrants are flanked by wrench zones in the east and west that have produced contrasting styles within the Trans-Indus ranges. The structural styles include south-verging anticlinal- monoclinal ridge above a frontal fault, wrenching and compression related en-echelon anticlines and fault bend folds. The current investigations have led to the understanding that the structural evolution of the east-west and east-north-east oriented segments of the Trans Indus ranges is attributed to a south directed ramping whereas the north- south/northwest trending segments are related to wrenching concomitant with compression. The frontal bounding fault in the Trans-Indus ranges is less significant as compared to that along the Salt Range in terms of its level of decoupling and the magnitude of southward translation. The Himalaya-related deformation that shaped the Trans-Indus ranges is distinguished into three discrete episodes including pre-molasse, syn-molasse and post-molasse. The pre-molasse deformation includes the extensional tectonic activity resulted in the development of the normal basement faults with down thrown side to the north. The syn- molasse deformational episode is well demonstrated by the gradual south-younging sequence of molasse deposits in the Kohat Basin. The post-molasse deformational episode started in the region at the time when the macroscopic thrust slab underneath the Kohat-Bannu Basin ramped up section at the site of Trans Indus ranges. This ramping led to the creation of the present day Trans-Indus ranges and the internal deformation of the thrust slab which is still continuing. xvThe arcuate nature of the Trans Indus ranges is interpreted to be original, partly controlled by some pre-existing basement irregularities and possible strain partitioning. It is interpreted that the onset of compression at the northern and southern Surghar Range and Manzai ranges was synchronous caused by north-south and east-west compression induced by proto Main Boundary Thrust and Kurram Fault respectively. At the time when Proto MBT was transmitting south directed stresses at the site of the northern Surghar Range, left lateral wrenching along the Proto Kurram zone was transmitting east directed compressive stresses resulting in the north-south oriented folds in the Manzai and southern Surghar Range. The onset of thrusting is believed to be the earliest at the site of Surghar and Manzai ranges followed by wrenching along Pezu, Kundal and Makarwal faults. This wrenching episode was subsequently followed by thrusting at the site of Khisor and Marwat ranges. The stratigraphic succession and structural styles observed within the Trans Indus ranges offer a complete petroleum system comprised of multiple reservoir, source, seal rocks and traps including structural as well as stratigraphic for the accumulation of hydrocarbons.

Peace has great importance both for the individual and the communal life. Wherever peace turned into unrest, the tendencies of social violence, mental sickness and insecurity start developing amongst the people. Peace and harmony were the hallmark of the reign of the 2nd caliph, Haḍrat ‘Umar. He gave the best governing mechanism to the people of Arab, when they were not fully aware of rules & regulation of government. Though the empire was wide spread, he exercised a great sort of command & control on it. He took the responsibility of providing his subjects their basic needs: Food, Shelter, Education, Peace and Justice. This was not only an ideal system of its time but became the role model for the modern welfare state. Peace and harmony is as important for a state as food & air are for life. Allāh has strongly emphasized in The Holy Qur’ān" on two things i. E., "Disharmony & hunger" which should be eliminated from a society. Haḍrat ‘Umer during his reign of 10 years presented Islām as a religion of peace & harmony, a religion, which respects humanity, peacefully resolves disagreements and curtails misuse of power. He himself possessed the qualities of peace & harmony to an utmost level, which were the traits of our Holy Prophet’s (ﷺ) personality. It is important to follow the Khilāphah of Haḍrat ‘Umar to bring peace & justice in the society.

Augmenting Software Architecture Knowledge Area Support for Personal Software Process and its Adoption to Current Local Perspective

Personal Software Process (PSP) developed by Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University (SEI-CMU) is for software engineers to better understand and improve their personal performance. It has been adopted for use in industry and academia and is also utilized for process improvement in twenty one key process areas of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). The main emphasis of the personal process is on requirement, design, code, test, and post-mortem phases of software development. Identification of risk at system structure level for estimation of cost and schedule are listed as the key focus of PSP. However, current implementation of PSP does not provide any process for risks, schedule and cost estimations at the architecture level. Neither does PSP body of knowledge provide any support for architectural knowledge area elements. Since the architecture influences all other phases of development life cycle and also has its proven benefits, its integration into the personal process should augment PSP with those additional benefits. Moreover an exploratory study performed within local Software Process Improvement (SPI) practitioners also revealed that process improvement is itself a problematic area in the local industry which is a cause for poor SPI, thus a local perspective is clearly established for CMMI based SPI participants in Pakistan. This work also is an effort to presents the support for identified issues at process engineer level SPI, by augmenting the personal software process, and adding architecture centric design keeping in view the local constrains thus further strengthening the PSP principles. The ACE architecture centric methods of Quality Attribute Workshop and Attribute Driven Design have been tailored such that the cost, time and effort impact on the engineer is minimal while the identified issue are addressed. The augmentation is performed in alignment SEI-CMU PSPBOK. The improved process is designed and executed, and the impact of improvement is validated. The improved process demonstrates positive impact of cost and schedule, induces early risk identification and reduces time to market by reducing rework and improving overall quality and satisfaction of not only the product but also the personal maturity and yield of the process engineer. Results of the case studies show that making the process architecture centric has significant advantages for personal process and overall software product quality.
