The particle loaded composites are being used widely for enhanced/tailor-made properties (mechanical, thermal, electrical, etc.) in the end product. Although the particle loaded composites find application in a number of areas, very little information is available on the fabrication of particle loaded composites using liquid composite moulding techniques, the experimental results and characterisation of particle filtration. Also, the effect of filler addition on shape distortion (warpage and spring-in) has not been reported in the literature. Therefore, this study focusses on the three aspects of particle loaded composites, i.e. fabrication process (flow and filtration), product shape (warpage and spring-in) and properties (mechanical). Composite plates were fabricated by VIM process from glass woven fabric and vinyl ester resin, using line injection under the action of vacuum, with different concentrations (0, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) of silica microparticles (1.128 μm). It was observed that the mould filling time increases as the concentration of filler particles increases in the suspension. It was observed that the front progresses more rapidly near the entrance, and then its movement slows down during the filling. The effect of particle filtration on the thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) along the composite length was also observed. This phenomenon has not been studied/reported in the literature, as a measure of particle filtration. It was found that the CTE was low at the inlet indicating a high particle concentration. Then a gradual decrease in the particle concentration was observed from the inlet towards the outlet. Near outlet, the particle concentration was found to slightly increase due to particle deposition. COMSOL Multiphysics® Modelling Software (v5.3) was also used for the numerical study of flow process and filtration. The numerical and experimental results were found to be in accordance with each other. In the next part, the effect of fillers on shape distortion in flat and angled part composites was studied. For this purpose, composite plates and angled parts reinforced with UD glass fabric were prepared from vinyl ester resin, both with and without fillers. The experimental results showed a 51.6% decrease in the curvature in thin plates by the addition of 5% silica particles. Similarly, the spring-in angle was also found to decrease by 65% in the angled composite parts. The curvature and spring-in were also simulated using COMSOL Multiphysics® Modelling Software (v5.3), and results were in close correlation with the experimental values. The mechanical properties (tensile, flexural, impact and shear) of composite materials were also found to increase after the addition of particles.

تفسیر روح المعانی میں امام آلوسی کا منہج: ایک تحقیقی جائزہ

To understand the commentary of the Holy Qurân is a complex matter. Since the time of Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) till date the commentators have come to interpret the Holy Qurân for general public so that they should not face any difficulty to understand it. The Muhadithen made a separate chapter for Tafseer. In 19th century Imam Alusi (R.A) wrote a detailed commentary of the Holy Qurân. In this article I will produce a brief introduction of Imâm Alūsī (R.A) and his Tafseer. This paper touches the methodology of tafseer of Imam Alūsī (R.A) and the principles adopted by him.

Colonization, Resistance and Transformation: A Postcolonial Critique of the Unchosen and Things Apart

Colonialism is a complex phenomenon which cannot be limited to physical colonization as it would fail to take into account the other facets of this phenomenon. Postcolonial writers have shown how colonization affected their society and challenged the notion of enlightenment and civilization. The current research aims at understanding this aspect through studying the concepts of colonization, resistance and transformation thought Achebe’s Things Fall Apart (1958) and Hassan’s The Unchosen (2002). Moreover, the researcher also evaluates the role of power politics to examine how colonization was similar or different in Africa and the Subcontinent. For this purpose, textual analysis is the lens through which the selected texts are assessed. The designed research framework for analysis takes into account salient features of the postcolonial theory to explore the concepts of colonization, resistance and transformation in respective societies. To achieve the objectives of the research, colonization and resistance is scrutinized at three levels; i) physical, ii) cultural and iii) religious. Transformation which is a result of colonization and resistance is studied at two levels; i) cultural and ii) religious. The findings of the research show that colonization affected the social fabric of the society by undermining the values and traditions of the natives. Even though the natives in Africa and the Subcontinent resisted the policies enforced by the colonizers; such as the ideals of technology, education and progress are factors which led to the process of transformation. People of both the regions had strong affiliation with their traditions, cultures and religions, even then the colonizers identified different tools to overcome the resistance. Things Fall Apart (1958) identifies the religious polarity as one of the factors behind natives’ conversion to Christianity, which is in contrast to Subcontinent, where the discourse of religious division among natives worked in the colonizers’ favor. Both the novelists criticize the colonial powers, but they also take into account the weaknesses in both the societies which facilitated the process of colonization. The research also identifies that the writers have not only condemned the process of colonization but also discussed how it was beneficial for the natives as it provoked a sense of education and industrialization making them aware that they cannot progress without development in science and technology.
