This thesis primarily addresses the systematic modification of polyamides, poly(amide- imide)s, polyimides and polyurethanes to yield high performance poly(thiourea-amide)s, poly(thiourea-amide-imide)s, imide)s, poly(thiourea-ether-imide)s, poly(urethane-thiourea)s, poly(phenylthiourea-azomethine- poly(urethane-thiourea-imide)s and poly(urethane- azomethine-thiourea)s. The foremost goal of current research is the structural modification of polymers exploiting the synthetic chemistry to attain excellent solubility via slightly disrupting polymer chain regularity and packing. Various synthetic schemes were developed for the inclusion of thiourea moieties along with other desired linkages in these polymers. The designed monomers (dinitro, diamines, dicarboxylic acids, diacid chlorides, diols and diisocyanates) bearing pre-formed linkages were then synthesized and employed for the preparation of novel thiourea-based polymeric materials. The incorporation of different functional groups provides an opportunity to control certain physical properties such as solvent miscibility, η inh , crystallinity, molecular weight, thermal stability and flame retardancy of the resulting polymers. The effect of thiourea and other functional groups on the properties of newly synthesized polymers were scrutinized together with their structure-property relationship. Major tools utilized for the examination of polymer properties are FTIR, 1 H NMR, solubility, viscometry, GPC, TGA, DSC and XRD. Novel thiourea-based polymers demonstrated outstanding thermal stability without deteriorating their organosolubility or processability. Another objective of the work was to evaluate the expedient applications and potential relevance of these valuable high-performance materials for advanced technologies. The processable poly(thiourea-amide)s, poly(thiourea- amide-imide)s, poly(thiourea-ether-imide)s and poly(urethane-azomethine-thiourea)s were found to have superior thermal stability as well as non-flammability. Poly(phenylthiourea-azomethine- imide)s having C=S and –C=N– moieties can act as imminent contenders to fabricate certain electrically conducting materials. Poly(thiourea-amide)s, in addition to the excellent solubility and thermal resistance, can be employed as solid extracting phases for the elimination of environmentally toxic metal ions from aqueous media. Prior to this effort, reported in peer- reviewed journals, synthesis of high temperature polymers bearing C=S entity was an unexplored area. Easy processability, high molar mass, heat and flame stability, electrical conductivity, etc, depict their high adaptability in future, rendering them backbone materials in polymer science.

یہ خبر بڑے رنج و افسوس کے ساتھ سنی جائے گی کہ ممتاز عالم دین اور مشہور ملی رہنما مولانا عبدالکریم پاریکھ ۱۱؍ ستمبر ۲۰۰۷؁ء کو ناگ پور میں وفات پاگئے، جہاں ان کا خاندان گجرات سے آکر آباد ہو گیا تھا، وہ ۱۵؍ اپریل ۱۹۲۸؁ء کو اکولہ (مہاراشٹر) میں پیدا ہوئے تھے، ابتدائی تعلیم حاصل کر کے یہیں کولڈ ڈرینگ ہوٹل میں ملازمت اختیار کرلی، پھر اپنا کاروبار شروع کیا جس میں اﷲ نے بڑی برکت دی اور جلد ہی وہ ناگ پور میں لکڑیوں کے بڑے تاجر شمار کیے جانے لگے۔
کاروباری مشغولیت کے ساتھ علم و مطالعہ اور دین سے بھی ان کو شغف رہا، اسی اثنا میں ان کا تعلق مولانا سید ابوالحسن علی ندویؒ سے ہوا جو روز بہ روز بڑھتا گیا یہاں تک کہ ان کے خلیفہ مجاز ہونے کا فخر حاصل ہوا، مولانا علی میاں ان کی بڑی قدر کرتے اور انہیں اپنے ساتھ جلسوں میں لے جاتے اور ان سے اصلاحی و دعوتی تقریریں کراتے۔
مولانا علی میاں نے پیام انسانیت کی تحریک شروع کی، جس کا مقصد اسلام کے بارے میں غیر مسلموں میں پھیلی ہوئی غلط فہمیوں کا ازالہ اور یہ بتانا تھا کہ اسلام ساری انسانیت کے لیے دین رحمت ہے، اس کی تعلیم امن و آشتی، انسان دوستی، اخوت، بھائی چارگی اور اتفاق و اتحاد کی ہے، فتنہ و فساد اور ظلم و جارحیت سے اس کا کوئی تعلق نہیں، اس تحریک میں مولانا عبدالکریم پاریکھ حضرت مولانا کے دست راست ہوگئے تھے اور ان کی تقریروں سے غیر مسلموں کو بڑا فائدہ پہنچتا تھا۔

Theoretical Study of Indian Banking System

Banks play a significant part in India's financial system and contribute to economic growth. The banking industry is the foundation of every contemporary economy. It is one of the most significant foundations of the financial industry and plays a crucial role in economic performance. It is crucial for the growth of the nation's economy that financial demands be met; industry and agriculture demonstrate the greatest degree of dedication and accountability. Therefore, the growth of the nation is intimately tied to the growth of banks. Banks should not be seen as money changers in the contemporary economy, but as development leaders. In several economic sectors, they serve a crucial role in aggregating deposits and debt payments. The financial system reflects the country's economic life. Economic vitality is contingent upon the stability and efficacy of the financial system, which in turn is contingent upon a solid and sustainable banking system. A solid banking system that integrates deposits into productive sectors and a melting bank system allow the bank to fulfill its duties to investors. After India's independence, banks play a significant part in the country's social and economic growth. India is dominated by the banking industry, which accounts for more than half of the financial sector's assets. The Indian banking sector has seen a remarkable transformation due to the reforms of the financial industry, which are implemented in phases. In this context, the researcher has conducted an overview analysis of the Indian Banking System, resulting in the current paper.

Working Collaboratively With a Mathematics Teacher to Develop an Understanding of Discussion-Based Teaching

This small-scale action research study worked collaboratively with a mathematics teacher to develop an understanding of discussion-based teaching in a lower secondary mathematics class. The efforts were based on the rationale that working together with the teacher helps her to develop. The participating teacher develops an understanding and skills to implement discussion- based teaching in a mathematics class. It is assumed that many teachers in Pakistan consider mathematics teaching to be making the students memorize mathematical procedures and formulae, to enable them to do sums correctly. In such a situation it makes students passive learners because teachers take over the role of a mathematics knower. It is with this background this study recognizes the importance of discussion-based teaching in a mathematics class, in order to ensure that students become active learners. Before introducing discussion-based teaching the teacher's perceptions and practices of mathematics teaching had to be studied. On the basis of the reconnaissance findings an intentional action plan was prepared and implemented to facilitate the participant teacher's understanding and practices in the mathematics class. Subsequent plans and actions would remain responsive to the realization of a need for change arising out of the experiences of implementing the previous one. Data was gathered mainly through classroom observations and the teacher's interviews. The findings revealed that a teacher did in fact come to class with certain beliefs and conceptions about the way children learn mathematics. The origins of these beliefs and conceptions lay in her prior experiences as a student; and the way mathematics was taught is a result of these beliefs. The study reports some possible strategies to facilitate a teacher in gaining an understanding about the notion of discussion-based teaching of mathematics. It also reveals that as a result of coaching and critical reflections on her own practice a teacher could change her conceptions of teaching mathematics. The study concludes by presenting the challenges faced in the process and the key learning from the study as a teacher, a teacher educator, and as a researcher. Finally, it suggests a focus for further action research.
