This research work is based on the synthesis of derivatives of tetrazole and benzimidazole and screening of their biological activities. Spectroscopic techniques, i.e. 1H-, 13C-NMR, EI-MS, HREI-MS, and IR spectroscopy were used to determine the structures of the synthetic compounds. This dissertation consists of three chapters depending on the different libraries of synthetic compounds. The biological evaluation of the compounds is given in summarized form. Each chapter has its own compound, table, figure, and schemes number. Chapter-1: This chapter consists of two parts. First part is about syntheses of 5-phenyl-1H-tetrazole derivatives by a newly developed methodology and their screening which resulted in identifying some lead molecules for further studies. We have synthesized twenty-six derivatives through this methodology and among twenty-six, three compounds are new. Library of synthetic compounds showed potent α-glucosidase inhibitory potential, four compounds exhibited remarkable inhibitory activity superior to standard acarbose. These tetrazoles may act as lead compounds in search of more potent α-glucosidase inhibitors. The synthetic compounds were screened for their β-glucuronidase inhibitory activity as well, three compounds showed moderate activity. These compounds were screened for their phosphodiesterase inhibitory activity too, two compounds showed excellent inhibitory activity more active than standard. Compounds were also showed good xanthene oxidase inhibitory activities as six compounds showed moderate to good activity. Compounds were tested for their antyglycation potential also, Four compounds found to be active than standard. In antileishmanial studies three compounds showed moderate to good inhibition. Moreover, this library was screened for β-cell viability assay and nine compounds showed good to moderate results. The second part of this chapter consists of twenty-nine compounds. Among the whole series, twenty-four are new and five compounds are known. Compounds have been synthesized using water as solvent using cost effective and commercially available starting materials. Synthetic compounds showed potent antiglycation activity, fourteen exhibited good inhibitory activity compareable to standard. These compounds were tested for their immunomodulatory activity too, seven compounds showed good to moderate activity showing there IC50 values close to standard. In antileishmanial potential, three showed moderate to weak activity. In β-cell viability assay only three compounds showed very weak activity. Chapter-2: We have optimized a nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction to synthesize tetrazolyl ethers by using cesium fluoride as a suitable base. The higher cost of cesium fluoride is offset by clear advantages such as higher yields, short reaction time, and small amount of reagents required and easy work-up. Thirteen compounds are new among the whole series. Evaluation of biological activities of twenty-four compounds based on tetrazole skeleton resulted in identifying some lead molecules for future studies. Compounds were evaluated for their antleishmanial activity and four compounds showed moderate antileishmanial activities. Chapter-3: This chapter consists of three series of 1H-benzimidazole which have been synthesized using DMSO as a solvent and commercially available starting material. In first series, thirteen compounds are new; these synthetic compounds showed excellent potential in antiinflammatory assay, five exhibited potent antiinflammatory activity. These compounds were also screened for their antidiabetic activity, five compounds showed very good activity. Compounds of this library were tested for their urease inhibitory activity too and two showed weak inhibition. In addition, compounds were screened for their antileishmanial activity and sixteen compounds showed good to significant activity. Other two series of benzimidazole derivatives were also synthesized and seven compounds are new while the rest are known, these are screened for leishmanicidal and glycation activity and exciting results results were found.

24. Al-Nur/The Light

I/We begin by the Blessed Name of Allah

The Immensely Merciful to all, The Infinitely Compassionate to everyone.

24:01
This is a Surah that WE have sent down, and made its Injunctions mandatory to be applied in matters of ethics, mannerism, and morality,
and WE have sent down Clear Messages in it so that you may contemplate and enact.

24:02
The adulterous and fornicator female and the adulterous and fornicator male, where both are equally guilty of engaging in an extramarital relationship, flog each one of them a hundred lashes.
And let no compassion, pity, or sympathy for both of them keep you away from executing the command of Allah’s Religion, if you truly believe in Allah – the One and Only God of everyone, and the Last Hour.
And ensure that a group of believers witness their punishment.

24:03
After the punishment has been executed the adulterous or fornicator male will not marry anyone but an adulterous or fornicator female, or a polytheist female.
And the adulterous or fornicator female will only marry an adulterous or fornicator male, or a polytheist male.
But marrying someone guilty of adultery or fornication is forbidden for the believers.

24:04
And those who falsely accuse a chaste/respectable lady of an extramarital affair on circumstantial evidence but then do not bring four eye witnesses in support of their accusation,
then flog them eighty lashes,
and never accept their testimony ever again.
And those - they are the ones who have overstepped the limits.

24:05
Exceptions are those who later repent and reform themselves,
for sure, Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.

24:06
And as for those...

بریل لینگویج میں قرآن کریم لکھنے کا تحقیقی جائزہ

The Holy Qur’ān is the last scripture revealed by Allah. It was revealed for the guidance of mankind and every person has the right to read it whether they are healthy or has any physical disability. Visually impaired people hold a special place in this society and Braille is a writing method used by these people. Qur’ān has a special and specific style of writing which is called Rasmi Uthmani. It is an authentic style of writing used for the Holy Qur’ān. This article will discuss whether we can write Qur’ān in Braille or not; as it is one of the debatable issues among the religious scholars. Opinion of different religious scholars will be discussed in this paper.

Synthesis of Nanodiamonds for Nanocomposite Applications

The aim of the project is to design and develop a cost-effective and mass productive microplasma facility for the synthesis of Nanodiamonds (NDs) and their composites for the water purification. In order to produce microplasma, electrode assembly consisting of an array of hollow capillary cathode and a stainless steel mesh anode were fitted in a chamber which was attached with a gas flow system. NDs were formed by dissociation of gas mixture using this microplasma facility. Ethanol is chosen as a carbon precursor and argon as a carrier gas. A mixture of ethanol and argon has been dissociated in microplasma to form NDs. However, the addition of hydrogen is to enhance the quenching, etching, and stabilization of NDs. Initially, the focus was to find an effective root for the introduction of hydrogen in microplasma. hydrogen is introduced either directly or indirectly into the microplasma. Availability of high amount of atomic hydrogen and presence of argon makes the indirect dilution more efficient as compared to direct dilution. The next step was to explore the suitable flow rate of indirectly inserted hydrogen as flow rate is an important parameter to control the structure and properties of NDs. Therefore, the experiments were carried out at hydrogen flow rates of 3 and 5 L/min out of which 3 L/min was found to be better as flow rate for as the quality of the NDs are concerned. It was also attempted to produce NDs without the introduction of hydrogen. For this purpose, the experiments were carried out without hydrogen for different argon flow rates ranging from 3 to 9 L/min. Amongst all, 6 L/min appears to be the best flow rate for the growth of smallest size and near stress free NDs. It was established that NDs can be fabricated even without the hydrogen. The synthesized NDs (with and without hydrogen) were characterized by various diagnostic techniques. Raman spectroscopy and X-rays Diffractometer were utilized for structural analysis. Atomic force microscopy was used for surface morphology of NDs. The Optical characterization of NDs has been determined through UV-Visible absorption and Photoluminescence spectroscopy. The details of the functional groups present at the surface of the NDs has been investigated using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer. The NDs produced at the optimized carrier gas (argon) flow rate of 6 L/min. are of best quality which were then utilized as a nanofillers to fabricate polymeric and metallic nanocomposites. Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and silver (Ag) are used as polymer and metal matrix, respectively. The purpose of fabrication PVA-NDs and Ag-NDs composites was to utilize them for antibacterial applications PVA-NDs are prepared by solution casting method. XRD confirms that the intensity of PVA diffraction peak decreases with increasing content of NDs. The absence of NDs peak confirmed the homogeneous mixture PVA and NDs. Antibacterial activity has been evaluated against E-coli and S-aureus. PVA-NDs exhibits higher antibacterial activity than PVA. PVA-NDs composite could be a promising candidate for safe antibacterial packaging Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) and Ag- NDs composites have been synthesized by microplasma techniques. Raman spectra confirm the formation of Ag-NPs and it also indicate the presence of both Ag and NDs in Ag-NDs composite. NDs act as seed and increases the Ag+ ion reduction. Thus, a core (NDs) shell (Ag) composite is obtained. Antibacterial activity of Ag-NDs composites have been tested against E-coli and S-aureus. An improvement in antimicrobial properties of Ag- NDs composite as compared to that of Ag has been observed. The enhanced antibacterial activity of the Ag-NDs composite makes it a potential candidate for water purification. Therefore, the water filtrates (fiberglass, cation resin, zeolite, anion resin and sand) were coated with Ag and Ag- NDs composites. XRD and EDX analyses confirm the coating of Ag and Ag-NDs on the filtrates. Tap water has been taken from Sabzazar, Lahore, Pakistan. Physicochemical properties of Tap water before and after incorporation of Ag and Ag-NDs coated filtrate were evaluated by standard methods. NDs reduced the pore size of filtrates. NDs improved the binding of silver to the various filtrates. The decreasing trend of total dissolved, total suspended solids, hardness and turbidity was more pronounced for Ag-NDs composite filtrates as compared to Ag coated filtrates. Antibacterial activity has been performed with black water taken from main sewerage line. Antimicrobial properties of Ag and Ag-NDs coated filtrated black water were investigated using total fecal coliform bacteria. Ag-NDs coating has positive effect antibacterial properties of water.
