Three new series of ligands (derived from amino acids) have been synthesized from view point of their structural and biological studies. The first series belongs to amide derivatives of amino acids (A1-A9), second belongs to urea derivatives of amino acids (A10-A18) and the third one belongs to thiourea derivatives of amino acids (A19-A30). Tributyltin(IV) and bismuth(III) derivatives of these ligands have also been prepared in good yields by refluxing the respective ligand with bismuth(III) chloride or tributyltin(IV) chloride in presence of potassium hydroxide in appropriate stoichiometric ratios in dry methanol as solvent. The structure of the synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, ICP-OES, FT-IR, multinuclear (1H, 13C, 119Sn) NMR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Based on these results, the synthesis of ligands have been confirmed and the data also suggested that these ligands appeared to coordinate the bismuth and tin centers through the oxygen of carboxylate moiety. The tributyltin(IV) derivatives mostly demonstrate tetrahedral geometry both in solid and solution state. Whereas octahedral geometry was proposed for bismuth(III) complexes both in solid and solution state based on single crystal X-ray analysis, FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy respectively. Finally the biological activity tests such as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, enzyme inhibition and lethality bioassays for majority of the synthesized ligands were carried out and found some encouraging results. All of the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their potential as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agents against different strains of bacteria and fungi. Both of the tributyltin(IV) and bismuth(III) complexes have shown good to significant anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and some of them were found to be more potent than standard drugs available in markeet. It was observed that tributyltin(IV) complexes have shown slightly better activities than bismuth(III) complexes. These results propose that these compounds may be utilized as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agents in future in the wake of following the medication improvement methodologies. Anti-oxidant potential of these newly synthesized compounds was also evaluated and some of them exhibited significant anti-oxidant activity. viii These compounds were also examined for their α-glucosidase inhibition, urease inhibition and lipoxygenase inhibition activity and some of the compounds showed excellent results in inhibiting these enzymes, even more than the standard drugs. Some compounds from all the series were tested for anti-tubercular activity and show poor activity. They were also assayed for their brine shrimp lethality test and data suggests that the compounds show low toxicity. However the data pertaining to bioassay tests for all the synthesized compounds exhibiting some encouraging results and may be trialed further in drug discovering processes to find out the lead compounds by modifying/altering their structural motifs.

Accounting Guidelines Implementation: A Study on Economic Development of Islamic Boarding Schools

The development of Islamic boarding schools is one of the targets for sharia economic development which is based on the understanding of the halal value chain where the development of Islamic economics and finance summarizes various initiative programs including the development of Islamic boarding schools. The purpose of this study is to describe how the implementation of the Islamic Boarding School Accounting Guidelines at Al Huda Islamic Boarding School which is more focused on the readiness of HR at Al Huda Islamic Boarding School in applying the Islamic Boarding School Accounting Guidelines. The Al Huda Islamic boarding school was chosen as the research locus because the Al Huda Islamic Boarding School was appointed by Bank Indonesia Gorontalo Representative Office as a pilot project for the Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) which applies the Islamic Boarding School Accounting Guidelines. The stages of the research method began with observations and results of interviews with informants from the board of the Al-Huda Islamic Boarding School. The results showed that there was a desire to apply these guidelines in the Al-Huda Islamic boarding school. Even though treasurers, secretaries and operators do not have a basic knowledge of the Economics of Accounting, the existing human resources are ready to apply the Pesantren accounting guidelines, of course, adjusting to the needs of the Al-Huda Islamic boarding school. The author sees that there is no urgency in implementing Islamic boarding school accounting guidelines at the Al-Huda Islamic boarding school because the reporting entity is the foundation that houses the Al-Huda Islamic boarding school, the Al Huda Islamic Education and Da'wah Foundation, Gorontalo. The foundation is fully responsible for the donors or the community.

Date Palm Diversity in Pakistan and its Relationship With World Dates Germplasm for Exploring the Center of Origin of Phoenix Dactylifera L.

Date Palm, (Phoenix dactylifera L.) often called ‘nakhl’, ‘khajor’, or ‘khaji’ belonging to the family Arcaceae (Dransfield et al., 2008) is an evergreen tree. It is the hardiest among tropical fruit trees and exceeds most other fruit crops in productivity and adaptability. The characterization of date palm at the genetic level supplemented with phenotypic character is of great concern as an important step towards efficient conservation, maintenance and utilization of the existing genetic diversity. The present research work was carried out to investigate the phenotypic variability and genetic diversity of the date palm germplasm present in the 16 districts of Pakistan. A planned survey of date palm growing regions of Pakistan in 4 provinces (Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir was conducted for collecting leaf and fruit samples of date palm. Young and healthy leaves were used to extract DNA whereas seeds were extracted from fruit for recording qualitative and quantitative morphometric diversity. In total, 2460 seeds of 82 accessions were included in morphometric study. About 139 date palm accessions were evaluated for genetic variability and population structure. The recorded data were analyzed using a set of different statistical tools for making significant interpretation. A total of 19 traits (5 quantitative and 14 qualitative) enabled an assessment of phenotypic diversity and structure. The measured traits: dorsal area, lateral area, embryo to apex length, embryo to base length and their percentage, seed base, micropyle position, seed wings and frequency of wings were more variable. PCA grouped all the accessions according to their phenotypic relations and morphometric characteristics. Cluster analysis distributed all the 82 Pakistani date palm accessions into their three original groups. The results reflect huge seed morphometric variation and presented seeds as a powerful tool for phenotyping. Furthermore, our study also exhibited strong resemblance and possible relationship between some groups of accessions. All 18 SSR primer pairs successfully analyzed molecular genetic variation and produced multiple fragments in the Pakistani collection as well as in date palm germplasm representing 10 different date palm growing regions of the eastern and western world. These set of markers proved themselves as highly polymorphic for genetic diversity estimation and population structure within and among all the geographically spaced population of xvii worldwide accessions. The findings of implemented markers revealed 2-23 alleles per locus with high level of expected heterozygosity in the accessions collected from Pakistan. The most informative SSR marker in this study was mPdCIT078. In addition, cultivar identification key were established. It allowed resolving the difference and constructs the relationships of the same name or vice versa. Our results also suggested the existence of population subdivision at the regional level. Population from semi arid – monsoonal or canal irrigated (seasonal or perennial) belt of Punjab (Bhakkar, Muzafargarh and Rahim Yar Khan) and dry arid ecological zones of Balochistan (Kech, Gwadar) are stable in their structure whereas DAPC distributed 342 accessions of 10 date palm growing countries into two major geographical groups (eastern and western). It is concluded that Pakistani germplasm has huge diversity and genetic pool were close to the eastern world especially Iraq and Oman.
