Corporate sector plays a pivotal role in the growth and economic development of the country. The objective of the present study is to assess the financial decision practices in the service sector of Pakistan. The study investigates the relationship and importance of financial decision determinants (uncertainty, CSR, and stakeholder interest) and financial performance in the presence of mediating role of capital budgeting, capital structure, and dividend policy. The target respondents of the present study were Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) of the service sector industries (Telecommunication, Banking, and Insurance) of Pakistan. The sample was limited to listed companies at Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE). The total population of the study was eighty four and all the respondents were approached for data collection. A questionnaire was used for data collection having 5- point Likert scale. Pilot testing was conducted in order to test the validity and reliability of the instrument. Refined questionnaire was distributed among companies operating in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta. This study employed Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), reliability, descriptive statistics, and a Structural Equation Model (SEM). Results reveal that the decision makers are well aware and agreed to the importance of applications of financial decisions and its determinants in the service sector of Pakistan. However, there are few areas where respondents do not agree or do not consider important, like pattern of past dividends, concern over maintaining share price and dividend cuts. The study concludes that the availability of financial resources and attitude of senior management are the major constrains for the capital investment. The study provides sufficient evidences that capital budgeting, capital structure and dividend policy are key mediators among determinants of financial decision practices and organizational financial performance. Resource availability is an important constraint to capital investment; this should be removed through private public partnership, foreign direct investment and by reducing interest rates. It is recommended that companies may take initiatives in corporate social responsibility activities and may screen out uncertain situations while making financial iii decisions. Service sector companies are also recommended to enhance the interest of stakeholders by providing them consistent dividend and establishing the suitable platform for the understanding the financial decisions. Keywords: Uncertainty, Corporate Social Responsibility, Stakeholder Interest, Capital Budgeting, Capital Structure, Dividend Policy, Organizational Financial Performance

معاشرتی زندگی میں قوانین اسلام کی اہمیت و افادیت

The Qur'an is the principal source of Islamic law, the Sharia. It contains the rules by which the Muslim world is governed (or should govern itself) and forms the basis for relations between man and God, between individuals, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, as well as between man and things which are part of creation. The Sharia contains the rules by which a Muslim society is organized and governed, and it provides the means to resolve conflicts among individuals and between the individual and the state. In this article, writer has throw light on the importance of Islamic Law in social life.

Architecture Recovery of Legacy Software Systems Using Unsupervised Machine Learning Techniques

Perhaps the most important aspect in maintaining software legacy systems is un- derstanding their architecture. Architectural documentation is often unavailable. Thus efforts need to be made to recover the architectural design from the source code. This thesis addresses the problem of recovering the architecture of software systems for greater understanding, and modularizing them for greater maintainability, using machine learning techniques. We use clustering to obtain a high-level view of a software’s architecture, by identify- ing major sub-systems within it. For this purpose, we analyze the behaviour of existing similarity and distance measures when applied to software artifacts and keeping in view software characteristics, yielding explanations to some previously unanswered questions. We develop two new hierarchical clustering algorithms that address the problem of ar- bitrary decisions taken by existing hierarchical algorithms. We also propose a similarity measure suitable for software clustering. The performance of the proposed algorithms and similarity measure is evaluated using internal and external assessment. Instead of using only one expert decomposition for external assessment, as is commonly done, we use decompositions prepared by 4-5 experts for each test system. Such an approach allows us to validate the idea of multiple views of a software system. Experiments carried out on five open source legacy software systems show that the performance of our proposed algorithm is better than previously used algorithms. Interpreting the results of clustering algorithms is often difficult. To make clusters easier to understand, we propose a labeling scheme for clusters and compare two alter- native ranking schemes that can be utilized for this purpose. We demonstrate how the labels assigned by our scheme aid understanding of the clustering process of clustering algorithms. We also provide a comparison between cluster analysis and concept analysis as modularization techniques, and give examples of their application to different software structures, thus indicating the strengths and limitations of the two techniques. Finally, we use association rule mining to gain insight into the low-level structure of software systems by examining relationships between architectural quarks i.e. functions, global variables and user defined types. Metarule-guided association rule mining is used to ividentify problems within structured legacy systems. Re-engineering patterns that present solutions to these problems are proposed. Results for the test systems reveal interesting characteristics which allow us to understand legacy systems and their evolution.
