In this thesis we study the parametric decay instability problem (three wave interactions) in classical andquantummagneto‐plasmas.Twocombinationsofthethreewaveinteractionshavebeen investigated.First,theparametricdecayinstabilityofupperhybridwaveintolow‐frequency electromagnetic shear Alfven wave and Ordinary mode radiation has been solved in an electron‐ion plasma immersed in uniform external magnetic field. Incorporating quantum effect due to electron spin, the fluid model has been used to investigate the linear and nonlinear response of the plasma species. It is shown that the spin of electrons has considerable effect on the three‐wave coupling interactions even in classical regime. Secondly,theelectronspin‐1/2effectsontheparametricdecayinstabilityofobliqueLangmuir waveintolow‐frequencyelectromagneticshearAlfvenwaveandleft‐handedcircularlypolarized wave(LHCP)hasbeeninvestigatedinanelectron‐ionquantumplasmaimmersedinuniform external magnetic field. Incorporating the quantum effects due to electron spin, Fermi pressure and Bohmpotentialterm,thequantummagneto‐hydrodynamic(QMHD)modelhasbeenusedto investigatethelinearandnonlinearresponseoftheplasmaspeciesforthree‐wavecoupling interactionina quantummagneto‐plasmas.Nonlineardispersionrelationsandgrowthrateshave been derived analytically. It has been shown that the spin of electrons has considerable effect on the growth rate of parametric instability problem even when the external magnetic field B0 is below the quantum critical magnetic field strength BQ = 4.4138 ×1013 G. Finally,theparametricdecayinstabilityofobliqueLangmuirwaveintolow‐frequency electromagnetic shear Alfven wave and LHCP have also been investigated in high density (quantum) and low density (classical) magneto‐plasma environments. QMHD model has been used to find the linear and non‐linear response of the high density quantum magneto‐plasma, and to compare the (h → 0, Pe → Pte ) results with the low density classical plasma we have used classical limit in the results of QMHD model. Nonlinear dispersion relations and growth rates of the problem have been derived analytically. The growth rate both for quantum and classical magneto‐plasma environments has been plotted. The normalized growth rate as a function of number density in the high density degeneratemagneto‐plasmasincreasesexponentiallywhileinthelowdensityclassicalmagneto‐ plasmas it increases logarithmically.

Determinan Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Perataan Laba (Studi pada Perusahaan Sektor Teknologi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia)

Tujuan dari riset ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh secara parsial dan secara simultan antara firm size, leverage, cash holding, winner/loser dan profitabilitas terhadap perataan pada perusahaan sektor teknologi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia pada tahun 2019-2021. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini di uji menggunakan analisis regresi logistik dengan menggunakan software  EViews 12. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teknik Purposive Sampling yang menghasilkan 11 sampel perusahaan terpilih dalam kurun waktu 3 tahun sehinnga diperoleh 33 unit sampel perusahaan dalam sektor teknologi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan variabel firm size, leverege dan profitabilitas berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perataan laba. Sedangkan cash holding dan winner/loser stock tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perataan laba. Untuk hasil pengujian hipotesis secara simultan antara firm size, leverage, cash holding, winner/loser stock dan profitabilitas berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perataan laba. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah agar perusahaan dapat mempertimbangkan terlebih dahulu damapak sebelum melakukan perataan laba.

Challenges and Possibilities of Pdts’ Diverse Roles and Responsibilities

The Master in Education (M.Ed.) is a core programme of the AKU-IED. Its purpose is to prepare Professional Development Teachers (PDTs) who are “exemplary teachers”, “researchers” and “teacher educators” and whose primary role is that of working as change agents in their schools on their return from AKU-IED. They are at the forefront of educational reform as they are constantly “rocking the boat” and “breaking the mould” during their attempts to try new things, take risks, encourage innovations and modify instructional practices (Stringfield, 1994, p.157). In this role, PDTs encounter the challenges and possibilities of their role in their respective contexts and face successes and failures, hopes and disappointments. I was interested in this topic because of my professional background of working as a teacher educator, and my exposure to the M.Ed. programme at the IED in different modules. Working with PDTs in their settings persuaded me to conduct the study on this topic. The ultimate purpose of this study was to explore how PDTs resolve challenges while performing their diverse roles and responsibilities in their contexts. This study was conducted in six of IED's cooperating schools from which the sample of the six M.Ed. graduates in three different systems i.e., government, private and AKES in Karachi, were involved. The fieldwork lasted for five weeks in which I applied the qualitative research paradigm and used a survey and semi-structured interviews to collect data I also maintained field notes and memos. This study suggests that PDTs' role performance is affected by some factors like role ambiguity or overload, teacher resistance, dilemmas of teacher education, limitation in conducting research, etc. The study has revealed that the PDTs have significantly contributed to developing teachers professionally in their schools with the eventual impact on whole school improvement. Finally, this study presents a few recommendations and implications for IED's future programmes, school administration and the PDTs as well.
