Rapid increase in the use of digital images either for security, health treatment, or entertainment demands an effective image retrieval system. In text based image retrieval, images are annotated with keywords based on human perception. A user query is composed of keywords according to his/her requirements. Query keywords are matched with the keywords associated with images, for retrieval. This process has been extended with ontology to resolve semantic heterogeneities in keywords matching. However, crisp annotation and retrieval processes could not produce the desired results because both processes involve human perception. To reduce the matching complexities produced due to human perception, an image retrieval model has been proposed in this thesis that makes use of fuzzy ontology for improving retrieval performance. For representing the image content, it is divided into regions in our dataset and then regions are classified into concepts. The concepts are combined into categories. The concepts, categories and images are linked among themselves with fuzzy values in ontology. The model has been evaluated through both objective and subjective measures. Experimental results show that the proposed system performs better than the existing systems in terms of retrieval performance. Besides this, users usually desire higher proportion of the query keywords in the retrieved images than other undesired keywords. Existing systems return images that mostly do not contain the query keywords either in equal or higher proportion than other keywords. The research in this thesis resolves this issue by applying uncertain frequent pattern mining on the association that exists among the concepts in images. These patterns assist in retrieving images that contain the required query keywords in high proportion. The ranking of retrieved images has been objectively evaluated using two different measures. Experimental results show that the proposed image retrieval system performs better than existing image retrieval systems. The results of image retrieval systems are typically assessed for quality either by objective or subjective evaluation measures. These measures usually produce good results in typical image collections with predefined categories. However, the results of objective evaluation measures deteriorate in collections where an individual image may belong to multiple categories. Furthermore, conducting subjective evaluation is very difficult if not impossible on a large number of queries for every collection due to humans’ involvement, as it is a tedious and time consuming task. Therefore, an automated assessment model for subjective evaluation in image retrieval systems is required. The main hurdle in creating such an automated system is the availability of subjective evaluation benchmark for the retrieved images. This thesis also presents a new benchmark and a novel evaluation model for conducting automated subjective evaluation by tackling it as a supervised machine learning problem with support vector regression (SVR). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system automatically predicts the mean opinion score (MOS) with reduced error and correlates well with human subjects’ assessment.

سیرتِ صحابہ کرام کی روایات کے اصول و ضوابط : معاصر آراء کا تجزیاتی مطالعہ

Researchers, Scholars and historians have rendered invaluable services on important topics such as the biography of the Prophet ( P.B.U.H) and the Biography of Sahaabah. But unfortunately some writers have included in their writings some traditions and baseless historical references about the holy congregation of the Companions which are not worthy of the holy congregation and do not meet the rules and regulations of the traditions of these biographies and histories ۔ Leading historians of the present day have done unparalleled work on the Seerah of the Companions in the case of the writings and compilations of the Seerah and history. Has done research work on relations with But in the beginning (in the case) as well as in the context, the principles of Seerah  and history have been discussed in detail and we have tried to bring out all the principles that are standard, accepted, in the Seerah and the character of the Companions and the disputes of the Companions. I am going to pave the way for balance and moderationIn The following Lines, a special study or the principles of biography and history described by contemporary historians such as Maulana Shibli Nomani ( 1913) Maulana Saeed Ahmed Akbarabadi ( 1985) and Maulana Nafe (2014) is presented. In this regard, efforts will be made to clarify how the path of moderation can be taken in this regard, how the honor of Ahel Bayt and Sahabah can be  maintained and how such traditions  can be avoided as a result. There was no mention of Ahle –e- Bayt or Zat –e- Sahaba or there was no element of division.

A Study of the Impact of the Mentoring Process on Primary Teachers Professional Development in District Lasbella, Balochistan

Teacher Education plays a vital role in the development of quality education and implementing the change process at classroom level. The Primary Education Directorate, Government of Balochistan, with the cooperation of the Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development has implemented the Primary Teacher Mentoring Program (PTMP) in eighteen districts of Balochistan. It is a new initiative in primary teacher education by the Government of Balochistan. This investigation is a qualitative case study focusing on the impact of the mentoring process on primary teachers' professional development in the District Lasbella, Balochistan. In this study the major sources for data collection were interviews, observations, informal talks, and documentation reviews. The obtained data has been analyzed and it has been found that the PTMP is a needs-oriented and indigenous model of mentoring process in which limited resources and contextual situation have been considered. It provides a built-in mechanism of on-going professional development support to the teachers. It is a cluster-based support, where 30-40 teachers of the cluster along with a mentor gather for two days in a month and discuss their classroom & school related teaching learning issues & concerns and sort them out. The mentoring process seems to have created a collaborative learning environment, which has reduced isolated teachers' culture, enhanced their content and pedagogical knowledge and developed teachers as reflective practitioners. Certain challenges are associated with the PTMP, which affect the performance of mentors and mentees and consequently impinge negatively upon overall achievement of the PTMP. These challenges are weak organizational / physical infrastructure & resource constraints, workload of Teaching Learning Resource Team (TLRT), weak feedback and monitoring system, limited school-based follow-up & support, non-cooperation of some district officials & headteachers, and rigid government rules and regulations. However, there are certain possibilities within the program design that may overcome some above-mentioned difficulties in near future. These are: (a) decentralization policy of the PTMP; (b) PED will be in a position to put more time and energy in the consolidation of the program in the year 2000; and (c) more PDTs may join the PED to enhance its institutional capacity building.
