Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack does not aims to disrupts or interfere with the real sensor data, rather they take advantage of disparity that exists between the network bandwidth and the limited resource availability of the victim. Detecting and preventing such attacks in cloud- assisted Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) is an important concern. Such attacks can be avoided by first detecting followed by prevention and mitigation. Attack detection is an initial step of any defense approach that needs to be taken prior to attack mitigation techniques. Similarly, attack prevention also plays an important role in protecting a network from malicious attacks. This research is mainly focused on the DDoS attack detection and prevention algorithms and propose a novel solution that not only consumes less resources but also produce efficient results. The limited resources of WBAN are not enough to mitigate the huge amount of traffic generated by DDoS attack. Therefore, there is a need for lightweight approaches and capable of handling real-time high speed sensor data for detection of such attacks in cloudassisted WBAN environment. The concern of detecting and preventing the DDoS attack in cloud- assisted WBAN remains unresolved, existing solutions proposed for such attacks in conventional networks are not directly applicable in cloud-assisted WBAN environment due to the resource scarceness of these networks. Moreover, multiple entry points into these networks leave them more vulnerable to such attacks which makes the attack detection and prevention process a challenging task. The aim of this research is to design a lightweight, in-network, distributed and scalable approach for detecting DDoS attack that is capable of handling high speed streaming data generated by WBAN sensors in cloud- assisted WBAN environment. The goal is to propose the attack detection technique with improved performance when compared with existing techniques in terms of: i) improved attack detection accuracy; ii) minimizing overall resource usage and iii) reducing overall computational cost. Analyzing and comparing the existing techniques for detecting attacks in both conventional and wireless sensor networks concludes that Very Fast Decision Tree (VFDT) has proved to be the most promising solution for identifying the malicious behavior of nodes in these networks through pattern discovery. Therefore, in this research , we have selected and explored VFDT technique that is lightweight and have further optimized it for handling high-speed streaming data originating from WBAN sensors. The performance evaluation is done through simulation experiments and real-time WBAN testbed deployment to test the effectiveness of proposed attack detection approach. In addition, the quantitative results obtained from the simulation experiments are benchmarked with corresponding results acquired from the existing techniques. The results comparison shows the advantages and significance of deploying stream mining approach in such networks, for detecting DDoS attacks in an efficient and timely manner. Another objective of this research is to propose an efficient traceback technique specifically for cloud- assisted WBAN environment that incur minimal overhead on the WBAN network. The goal is to propose a technique that is efficient in packet marking and path reconstruction procedures in order to traceback and identify the source of DDoS attack with less convergence time. Different traceback techniques have been analyzed and their comparison drawn to the conclusion that Probability Packet Marking (PPM) is most appropriate and widely used approach in both conventional and wireless sensor networks. The key issue of PPM lies in assigning the marking probability for path reconstruction. Therefore, we model the traceback of DDoS attack as a marking probability assignment problem and further optimized it for efficient traceback of DDoS attack in cloud- assisted WBAN environment. The evaluation is performed through simulation experiments to test the effectiveness of the proposed traceback technique. In addition, the quantitative results acquired from the simulations are benchmarked with equivalent results acquired from a fish bone traceback technique. The result comparisons prove the effectiveness of proposed traceback technique in WBAN networks, for identifying the source of DDoS attacks with less convergence time and minimum overhead.

ادب کا انسانی زندگی سے گہرا تعلق ہے۔ادب صرف معاشرتی زندگی کا عکاس ہی نہیں بلکہ اس میں زندگی کی نا ہمواریوں کا دکھ اور شخصی اور اجتماعی زندگی کا عکس بھی ملتا ہے۔’’ادب‘‘زندگی سے جنم لیتا ہے۔ ایک کے بغیر دوسرے کا تصور نا ممکن ہے۔ معاشرے میں رو نما ہونے والے سارے عناصر ادب پر اثرانداز ہوتے ہیں۔افسانے میں ایک طرف تخلیق کار کی ذات کا پتہ چلتا ہے تو دوسری طرف اس سے انسانیت کی اعلیٰ اقدار بھی جھلکتی ہیں۔ادب معاشرے کی تعمیر و ترقی میں اہم کردار ادا کرتا ہے اور سماجی، تہذیبی اور فکری رجحانات و میلانات پر اثر انداز بھی ہوتا ہے۔ ادب معاشرے کا آئینہ اور ترجمان ہے جوتمام حقیقتوں کو من وعن پیش کرتا ہے۔ یعنی ادب ہی کے ذریعہ سے کسی بھی بستی، علاقے،خطے،یا ملک و قوم کے باشندوں کی ثقافت،رہن سہن، اطواراور ان کی بودوباش کا علم ہوتا ہے۔ یہ ادب ہی ہے کہ جس کی بدولت کسی بھی قوم کے رہنے والوں کے مجموعی انداز فکر کا اندازہ لگایا جا سکتا ہے۔ ادب اور زندگی ایک دوسرے کے لئے لازم و ملزوم ہیں۔دونوں کو ایک دوسرے سے جدا نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ابولخیر کشفی ادب کے متعلق لکھتے ہیں:
’’ادب کے وسیلے سے مختلف سماجوں اور معاشروں نے اپنے مجموعی اندازِ فکر،مختلف رویوں اپنی ثقافت اور اپنے شعور کا اظہار کیا ہے۔ادب کو ہر مہذب معاشرے نے نہ صرف گہری توجہ کا مستحق ہی نہیں سمجھا بلکہ ادب کے آئینے میں اپنے بطون کو پیش کیا ہے۔‘‘(1)

Religion Islam has given equal rights to men and women in the field of education. For men education was compulsory and women were encouraged to seek education. Both males and females have been referred to using polygamous section for education while women are often encouraged and especially emphasized. The Prophet(SAW)arranged special seats for the gender critical in order to highlight the importance of women education. That was way the passion for special education in women grew so much that women discussed global issues with men and solved to reject men’s judgement. It was the influence of this academic moment that many Muslim women not only made a name for themselves, but also wrote books on various research topic in the field of Hadith, Commentary, Iftaa and many other Sciences. Thanks for this global revolution Muslim rulers not only provided a learning environment for their children but also established large educational institutions for ordinary women. The astonishing thing is that despite this wonderful past today Muslims are unable to provide a safe and secure opportunity for education to women.

Subject Catalogue of the Rarest Central Asia Manuscripts in Public Sector Universities’ Libraries of Peshawar

The cultural and literary heritage of a nation can be found in their writings. Moreover, the development of art, science and literature can be assessed historically through the use of these writing available in manuscript form. They throw enough light on the times in which they were written. It is a record of the knowledge, aesthetic literary and creative skill of the period in which they were written. Manuscripts are therefore essentially thought to be the most important element in tracing on the human heritage. Since earlier, knowledge along with religion came to this part of the world through Central Asia; therefore, most rather all such records are available in the prevailing languages of the time like Arabic, Persian, Turkish or Pashto. The University Campus at Peshawar is a conglomeration center of knowledge. Emerging with Islamia College in the early part of the last century, it had by now grown into four universities with couple of dozen institutions. The manuscript repositories amongst them are mainly Islamia College (now university) and the University of Peshawar. They contain, to my assessment, some of the rarest collections on socio-scientific knowledge besides religion and ethics. Attempts have been made by scholars on the religio-ethical branches with no quest on manuscriputal knowledge on science and technology. An attempt has been made in this research at the thesis level to introduce this literature (socio-scientific) to the modern researchers and also to make it public to them in appropriate subject catalogue form in the general catalogues of the concerned libraries. The study tried to save the cultural Heritage / History and to identify the literary achievements of Muslim scientists from the area. It will not only highlight the importance of these works but with the availability of proper subject catalogue easy access to these literary works will be possible. The research tried to fill out the information gap by tracing these manuscripts in other parts of the world to dig out the metadata. The study will highlight all other relevant work by Muslim scientist to open new areas for the coming researchers.
