Advancements in rocket propulsion have been the key factor for the scientific progress especially in space exploration and communication. The continued quest to achieve higher propulsion velocities at low cost still provides the room to the scientists and engineers to work on the development in the design of thrust chamber of a rocket engine. Given the high manufacturing and operational cost of rocket engines, precise knowledge of the chamber dynamics, propellants flow and feed system, heat transfer and structural integrity are important. During operations the thrust chamber experiences high temperatures and pressures, thus a reliable design requires adequate knowledge of the flow and combustion physics inside the chamber. A number of ways have been employed by the researchers to optimize heat transfer and performance of the engine. Generally regenerative cooling along with film cooling are used for safe operation.For small LPREs with small mass flow rates of the coolant, safety of the chamber wall becomes challenging job. Structural integrity can be attained by specific heat transfer rate and efficient combustion will give better performance. Numerical estimation of heat transfer using commercial software may be help for design and mounting instrumentation for experimentation at proper place. However one requires an integrated design tool for designing a thrust chamber with optimal performance ensuring adequate thrust, structural integrity and efficient cooling. For optimization of such a thrust chamber, couple fluid-structure-heat transfer analysis is often complicated and requires huge computational resources using commercial software. The combustion chemistry is often approximated through one dimensional theory. Generally experimental/empirical correlations are used for heat transfer rate calculations or one has to rely on expensive testing to validate structural design and safe operation. However the high cost involved with experimentation and manufacturing of even a small chamber, an integrated tool for optimal design of thrust chamber can be helpful. The optimized geometry can be numerically simulated for confirmation before leading to actual use. The integrated design tool can help in obtaining optimal thrust under given dimensional and flow constrains with adequate heat transfer rates ensuring low design cost. The major aim of this research work was to develop an in-house integrated software tool for the design and optimization of the coolant channel configuration of thrust chamber of a rocket engine. However, the study also includes the experimentation and CFD study for the validation of the tool developed. The developed integrated tool includes seven modules providing optimal performance parameters for a given thrust chamber design. The modules include combustion chemistry, flow dynamics, heat transfer and optimal cooling channels design for a given thrust chamber shape. Here the results obtained from the integrated tool have been verified using own computational fluid dynamics results and experimental data as well as the published results available in the literature. Amongst the important parameters, heat transfer rate within the thrust chamber is key design parameter. Here focus is on the prediction of heat transfer rates and surface temperatures of both coolant and thrust chamber. Thus results for the heat transfer rates and heat transfer coefficients are compared with published results, numerical simulations and experimental data. Further calculations for the optimized coolant geometry have been carried out based on the heat transfer, flow rate and pressure drop across the coolant channel. The results indicate that the predicted geometry offers safe operation of the thrust chamber. The integrated tool developed in this study is intelligent enough to optimize a number of coolant channel flow configurations with different coolants and fuels within a short time.

علامہ اقبال اوردیگر ادبی مشاہیر کی رثائی شاعری

مرثیہ(1)ایسی نظم کو کہتے ہیں جس میں وفات پانے والی شخصیت کی صفات  بیان  کی جاتی ہیں۔ اردو مرثیہ ایک ایسی صنف ادب ہے  جس میں  کربلا کے حالات و واقعات  پیش کئے جاتے ہیں ۔بالخصوص حضرت امام حسین  اور ان کے خانوادے کی شہادت کا تذکرہ  کیا جاتا ہے۔مرثیہ میں کسی مذہبی ، قومی پیشوا یا کسی محبوب شخصیت کی موت پر غم کا اظہار بھی  کیا جاتا ہے اور اس کی  خوبیاں اس طرح بیان کی جاتی ہیں  کہ قارئین بھی متاثر ہو ں ۔مرثیہ کے لئے کسی مخصوص ہئیت یا ترتیب قوافی کی کوئی شرط نہیں ۔قصیدہ،مثنوی ،رباعی ،مربع ،مخمس ،مسدس،ترجیع بند ، ترکیب  بند غرض کہ شاعر جس ہئیت  میں چاہے  مرثیہ تحریر کرسکتا ہے۔اردو ادب میں مرثیے کا ایک خاص مفہوم بھی ہے یعنی شہدائے کربلا کا مرثیہ خود ایک نہایت وقیع صنفِ ادب کی حیثیت سے اپنا مقام منوا چکا ہے۔
 مرثیہ گوئی کی روایت میں ایک بڑا نام فرزندِ سیالکوٹ علامہ اقبال کا بھی ہے۔    اقبال ؒ نے بھی مرثیہ نگاری  میں اپنے تخلیقی جوہر پیش کئے ہیں۔ان کے ہاں شخصی مرثیے کا اظہار زیادہ ہے جیسا کہ 1905ء میں داغ کی وفات پر  انہوں نے 23 اشعار پر مشتمل ایک مختصر مرثیہ لکھا جو ایجازو اختصار ،رمزو کنایہ ،تاثیر و بلاغت اور دیگر شعری محاسن سے  مزین ہے۔علامہ اقبال ؒ نے اپنے مخصوص طرزِ سخن کو بروے کار لاتے ہوئے داغ کی جذبات نگاری کو بہترین خراج تحسین پیش کیا ہے۔اس کے علاوہ ان  کا مرثیہ "والدہ مرحومہ کی یاد میں  اردو مرثیے کے حوالے سے ایک اہم اثاثہ ہے۔یہ نظم  انہوں نے اپنی والد ہ کی وفات پر ان کی یاد میں لکھی ۔  اقبال ؒ کی شعری دنیا میں شخصی مرثیوں کے علاوہ کربلا کا شعوری سفر اپنے...

Comparative Analysis of Municipal Powers in Karachi

This study aims to draw a comparative analysis of the powers of local governments in Karachi. The subject of local government structure and its authority has become more important in the current local scenario. The findings of the study reveal that in past successive civilian governments in Pakistan did not pay attention to developing a solid local government system and instead preferred controlling districts and tehsils through the bureaucracy, with the absence of democracy and accountability at the local level. Instead of using this third tier of the government for the delivery of swift and better municipal services, they always made an effort to keep them weakened through legislation at different levels. The situation has now got worst in the biggest city and economic hub of Pakistan where people are deprived of basic facilities due to a handicapped system. The Mayor of the biggest city of Pakistan felt powerless as the provincial government through the Sindh Local Government Act 2013 deprived the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation of its main functions. The local bodies will have to be given the authority and essential powers. Only then these institutions can be made capable of providing basic services to the people.

Tughra-e-Mashadi is amongst the eminent Irani poets, writers and treatiser of the 11th century. The government of Safvee in those times was neglectful towards the development of art and literature, which further disheartened many poets and writers and forced them to move to the Indo Pak subcontinent and Tughra was one of them. It was the Time of Mughal reign, a time when literature was flourishing. Tughra-e-Mashadi came to Dakkan for some time and then worked in the court of King Shahjahan. Later he got appointed as a MUNCHI of Prince Muraci Bakhsh. Tughra-e-Mashadi was well known for his poetry and prose. His writings had an amalgamation of Persian prose and poetry and Hindi words. His poetic works includes qasaid, ghazals, rubayat, qataat and masnawee. The prose depicts his hard work in minutely expressing the thoughts and ideas by the interfusion of verse in prose. A few of his Rassails also start with a verses. His writing style is inspired by Gulistan-e-Saadi. Tughra-e-Mashade has not only used stylized language in prose but has also provided vivid paraphrasing and explanation. The most striking feature of Tughra's Treatises are that they were part of the curriculum in the 11th century. Dr.Zabih-ul-Ilah safa aminent scholar of Iran considers Tugra-e - Mashadi as the second famous writer who got popularity for his works during his life. Another Iranian scholar All Akbar Dehkhuda has also talked about Tugra-e-Mashadi in his "Lughat -namma".Tugra-e -Mashadi has beautifully written about different topics like the success stories of kings, literature mysticism, astronomy, the health benefits of various herbs, and the beauty and serenity of different cities in his Rassail. In his Ruqaaat he has talked about rulers and the contemporary poets and writers. Tugra-e-Mashadi's language was difficult to understand that is why most of his writings could not be deeply understood and therefore no authentic work has been done. In this thesis the researcher has selected one of the earliest manuscripts and compared it with three different authentic manuscripts that were collected from GangBaksh Library Islamabad, Karachi Museum Library and British Museum Library London. The in accuracies of grammar and punctuation are written in the foot notes along with the meanings of Hindi words used in the original text. The meanings of Quranic verses and Hadith are also mentioned for further understanding. The researcher has recorded the fragments in exactly the same manner as that of the original text. Research is required on the manuscripts available in our libraries for further knowledge on various topics relating to art and literature.
