Pervasivecomputingoffersenvironmentsinwhichuserneedsortasksarefulfilled without demanding their attention. This requires discovering a service or a set of services based on context (i.e. user presence, user activity, user location, temperature level,lightintensityleveletc.). Anatomicservicemaysometimesmeetthesimpleuser needs but meeting of complex user needs may lead to discovering a number of relevant services and composing them together. While the composed service may well serve userneeds,therecometimeswhenausermaywanttocustomizetheenvironmentbased on her preferences and this require adapting the composed service through parameter adjustment of one of its constituent services or a multiple constituent services. This makescontext-awarenessingeneralandcontextualservicecompositionandadaptation inparticularacorerequirementofpervasivecomputingapplications. Servicesavailable in the environment may be heterogeneous with regard to different discovery protocols (e.g., UPnP, SLP, JINI, etc.) being used fortheirpublication, discovery andinteraction. Context-aware service composition may involve discovery of heterogeneous services andtheadaptationofthecomposedservicemayinvolveinteractingwithheterogeneous constituent services. This raises the issue of service heterogeneity in context-aware service composition and adaptation. We have also proposed an approach following a separation of concerns, which allows adaptation decision logic (adaptation concern), a core part of context-aware applications, to be independently treated and managed as a separate unit of execution from the rest of application code. The proposed approach allows modelling of adaption concerns as declarative Event-Condition-Action (ECA) polices. This allows rapid development of context-aware applications and their dynamic modifiability. Another research issue that we address in this thesis is that of user involvement. Tothisend,wehaveproposedauser-centricapproachthatallowstheusertoparticipate in development of context-aware applications. To address aforementioned research challenges, we have designed and implemented a system whose detailed description is provided in the thesis. The system has been evaluated through usability,performance and scalability measures.

اسلام رواداری کا علمبردار
اسلام کی رحمت و شفقت کا دائرہ کسی خاص قوم و ملت کے لیے نہیں ہے بلکہ اس کا دائرہ کار پورے عالم انسانیت تک پھیلا ہوا ہے۔ اسلام نے تمام مخلوق کے ساتھ نیکی ، احسان اور بھلائی کا حکم دیا ہے۔حضور اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ و آلہٖ وسلمنے فرمایا ہے:۔’’ساری مخلوق خدا کا کنبہ ہے اور اس کے نزدیک سب سے پسندیدہ مخلوق ہے جو اس کے کنبہ کے ساتھ نیکی کرے۔‘‘ (طبرانی وبیہقی)
یہ پہلا سبق تھا کتابِ ہُدیٰ کا
کہ ہے ساری مخلوق کُنبہ خدا کا
’’جوشخص لوگوں پر رحم نہیں کرتا اس پر خدا بھی رحم نہیں کرتا۔‘‘ (ترمذی)
کرو مہربانی تم اہلِ زمیں پر
خدا مہرباں ہو گا عرشِ بریں پر
مذکورہ بالا احادیث مبارکہ سے یہ بات واضح ہورہی ہے کہ اسلام رواداری کا علمبردار ہے۔ وہ ہر ایک کو برابری کی سطح پر دیکھنا چاہتا ہے۔ ایک اور مقام پر بھی کچھ اس طرح کا فرمان رسالت مآب صلی اللہ علیہ و آلہٖ وسلم ہے کہ’’ اللہ تعالیٰ کی نظر میں تمام برابر ہیں‘‘ اسلام میںیہ نہیں ہے کہ جو صرف مسلمان پر رحم نہیں کرتا اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ بھی رحم نہیں کرتا ،بلکہ حکم ہے جو لوگوں میں رحم ،شفقت و محبت کے جذبات کو پروان نہیں چڑھا تا وہ خدائے لم یزل کی بے پایاں شفقتوں سے محروم ہو جاتاہے۔ اسلام میں کسی کی تخصیص نہیں کی گئی۔ یہودی ہو ، عیسائی ہو، مجوسی ہو، آتش پرست ہویا زرتشت ہوانسان ہونے کے ناطے سب برابر ہیں۔ اسی طرح ایک اور حدیث پاک میں ہے کہ جنّت ماں کے قدموں کے نیچے ہے، یہاں یہ نہیں کہا کہ ماں مسلمان ہو، با وضو ہو کر جائے نماز پر بیٹھ کر تسبیح کرنے میں مصروف ہو ،قرآن کا ابتدائی قاعدہ...

Evaluation of Synthetc Derived Wheat Lines for Heat Stress Using Physiological and Agronomic Traits

Wheat production is decreasing continuously due to heat stress in the developing countries especially Pakistan. Every 1 ?C rise in temperature is resulting in 10% reduction in the yield of wheat worldwide. Therefore in order to overcome shortage of food in the near future better analysis of the wheat crops as well as improved research mechanisms are needed to enhance heat resistance in the existing wheat varieties. Present study was conducted to assess heat tolerance variation among thirty synthetic-derived wheat lines in order to identify new sources of diversity that could accelerate the development of improved wheat genotypes better suited to meet the challenges posed by changing climate in Pakistan. Plants were grown in plastic pots and heat stress was applied after post anthesis stage to determine the effect of heat stress on various morphological, agronomic and physiological traits. Heat stress significantly affected leaf area (LA), plant height (PH), number of fertile tillers (FT), Spike length (SL), Spikelet/spike (Sp/S), No. of seeds/Spike (NOS/S), 1000 seed weight (TSW), chlorophyll a and bcontent of leaves, membrane stability index (MSI) and also affected levels of proline. Statistical analysis of all the traits showed significant reduction in the particular trait as compared to their control data sets. Higher percentage reduction under heat stress reduced yields in (SDL1, 31.00), (SDL6, 32.00), (SDL29, 30.00) while minimum reduction under heat stress and maximum yield was observed for (SDL4, 45.00), (SDL5, 48), (SDL9, 44), (SDL12, 45.00), (SDL15, 49.00), (SDL19, 51.00), (SDL22, 45.00), (SDL23, 45.00) and (SDL27, 46.00) respectively. Reduction in physiological traits was recorded as 24.46% reduction in chlorophyll a (Chl-a), 28.19% chlorophyll b (Chl-b), 29.17% proline (Pro) content of leaf, 16.36% membrane stability index (MSI). In the same way in morphological trait a relative decrease in plant height (PH) 12%, days to physiological maturity (DM) 7.59%, fertile tillers (F/T) 21.43%, leaf area (LA) 25.58%, , spike length (SL) 25%, number of seeds per spike (NOS/S) 15.38%,and 1000 seed weight (TSW) 19.23%was observed. As a result it was observed that relative decrease in the yield contents in (SDL4), (SDL5), (SDL9), (SDL12), (SDL15), (SDL19), (SDL22), (SDL23) and (SDL27) was lesser as compared to all other genotypes so they can be considered as heat tolerant genotypes with potential to enrich genetic background of local wheat cultivars and can be used in breeding programs for the improvement of wheat production and can overcome food shortage in future.
