Many curriculum definitions have been given and much has been said about curriculum orientation, but much is needed to look at the curriculum from different orientations, in the area of curriculum, in the context of Tajikistan. This study, thereby, set out to explore what the orientation of the existing Tajikistan National Social Studies Curriculum for Class Four is, and how can it be used as a tool for transformation in Tajikistan. The study I have done was based on qualitative research, and, within this approach, I have used the method of document analysis. To analyze the curriculum document, the curriculum framework based on Miller and Seller (1990) was used. It also followed the stages of document analysis based on Robson (1998). However, there was one difference, and this was with respect to testing and coding. In this stage, since I did not have a second person, therefore, I, myself, went back again to test the coding and the categorization. Findings from this study reveal that the curriculum is reflecting a more transmission orientation. However, there are some elements of transaction that have been found, such as cooperative work and recognition of prior knowledge of the students, which the curriculum has tried to present. But, still, some of these elements are limited, as no brief illustration has been presented, which can help teachers to know how it can be done in the real classroom. Moreover, there is no integration between the components of the curriculum such as topic, content, instruction and assessment. Therefore, it fails to reflect the transaction orientation in its true sense. Furthermore, the study shows that the transmission curriculum orientation did not help students make a shift from controlling knowledge to creating new meaning on topics, and applying the new knowledge in action, for their society, or community. The study concludes with the suggestion about how the curriculum could reflect the transformation orientation and, thus, be used as a tool for transformation in Tajikistan. To demonstrate the transformative approach, I have selected one content area of the existing curriculum, and presented the illustrative Unit Plan. The main focuses of this lesson are: (a) lived experiences of the students, (b) generating new knowledge and (c) acting in the society to spread the information.

مکی دور نبوی ﷺ کے فنون ِ لطیفہ کے معاشرتی مظاہر کا تجزیاتی مطالعہ

Fine Arts, shows the aesthetic side of any society and it is very important part of any culture, as its presence expresses the cultural diversity and richness and connects different segments of society. This article throws a light on the fine arts of Makkah society before the Prophet Hood. It is very common among historians and orientalists to accuse the society of Makkah void of any cultural expression apart from its love for poetry, which is not true. The matter of the fact is that this society was fully developed aesthetically despite its nomadic and barren desert life. The cultural expressions of storytelling, poetry, architecture, painting, sculpture making were true and pure to this part of world without any influence from outside world. The tradition of storytelling was an essential element of Makkah cultural life and it was common among the elite of Makkah to have night sittings, where along with drinking, music they used to narrate anecdotes of past.  Although the architecture of Makkah people was simple, it was self-sufficient to the needs of the environment. This research paper is an attempt to look into the various forms of Fine Arts of Makkah and how these expressions were deeply embedded in the society.

Synthesis, Characterization and Potential Applications of Zn Ii , Pd Ii , Cu Ii and Ni Ii Metal Complexes With O, N and S Donor Schiff Base Ligands

In search of achieving less toxic and more potent DNA targeting antimicrobial agents, different types of benzimidazole derivatives, Schiff base ligands, and metal complexes have been prepared. The synthetic products were characterized using FTIR, NMR (1H and 13C), ESI-MS, MALDI-MS, elemental (C, H, N), and singlecrystal X-ray analysis. DNA binding potential of synthons was investigated by UVvisible absorption titrations in conjunction with thermal denaturation studies. It has been demonstrated that several compounds show DNA binding affinities with different magnitudes. The binding strengths are calculated from the absorption data and results are interpreted in the form of intrinsic binding constant (Kb) values which are found to be in the range of 6.4×103 -1.09×106 M‒1. The compounds exhibited intercalation and partial intercalation mode of binding through π-π stacking interactions with DNA. The binding forces were thermodynamically spontaneous owing to negative free energy values (-ΔG°). The binding behavior of the compounds was further explored by thermal denaturation experiments. Binding of compounds with DNA by intercalation mode stabilized its double-helical structure was manifested by the rise in melting temperature of DNA. The binding affinity trend found by absorption study is reproduced here. Thus, the results of two experimental techniques were in excellent agreement. After the confirmation of DNA targeting property, the compounds were screened for in-vitro antibacterial activity. Results indicated that metal complexes showed enhanced activity against several bacteria as compared to the respective ligands. Finally, the cytotoxic properties of the synthesized compounds were explored via brine shrimp cytotoxic assay. Most of the compounds were found non-toxic with LD50 value >200 µg/ml.
