Aim of this study was to investigate a secondary mathematics teacher's beliefs about the nature of mathematics and to see how these beliefs were manifested in his teaching practice. I conducted a life history research to explore the biographical learning processes of a male teacher, which occurred due to transition in his work situation. It highlighted the key stages in his academic and professional life, and illustrated the critical points, which reshaped his views about mathematics, and its teaching and learning. The data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, informal discussions and documentary evidences. In order to investigate the beliefs of a teacher about the nature of mathematics, the life history approach is an appropriate method, as Johnson and Golombek (2002) state that narrative inquiry enables teachers to organize and articulate, what they know, and believe about the subject, and its teaching and learning, and to communicate them to the researcher. They further argue that their stories reveal the knowledge, ideas, perspectives, understandings, and experiences that guide the researcher in understanding their beliefs. The findings of the study showed that the teacher considered mathematics as a subject, which was practical, a language of communication, a sequence of topics, a process of thinking, and problem solving. Findings also showed that beliefs are not static; rather, they change when new knowledge and desirable experiences are gained. Beliefs have a deep influence on practices, and practices form the beliefs, thus these two are interrelated phenomena. Findings suggest that it is necessary to study teachers' beliefs about the nature of the subject, in order to bring change in their practice, because, without knowing teachers' beliefs, their practices cannot be changed. Therefore, I conclude with the suggestion that in teacher professional development programs a study of the nature of mathematics teachers' beliefs may be included.

حیات امام مسلم بن حجاج القشیری

Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) asked the Ummat to build a strong bond with Quran and Sunnah. However, it was not possible to hold these, till both were not maintained in their original form. The science of Hadith has a significant role in the preservation of this Islamic Intellectual Heritage. It became possible because of the tremendous efforts of the Muslim Scholars who spent their entire lives in learning and spreading the Islamic knowledge. Imam Muslim bin Hajjaj al Qushairi 578 AD is one of the most enthusiastic, popular, and authentic personalities in the field of science of Hadith and among the bibliography of the narrators of Hadiths. His compilation As-Sahih Al-Jamey has a major contribution in preservation of Hadith. It is considered as the second most authentic book after The Quran. The paper discusses in details about the life of this intellectual personal, his journeys, his teachers, his students, his status, and his other research works.

Impact of Organizational Culture and Locus of Control on Turn over Intention with Mediating Role of Job Satisfaction

Turnover intention has gained substantial consideration from last few years and has been extensively studied because of its profound implications towards organizations. Retention of key employees has always remained a critical matter for organizations. Turnover intention's literature advocates many other factors which may influence the employee's decision to leave the organization. However, the factors that influence turnover intentions have been ignored in work stream. This attempts to investigate turnover intentions with three factors including locus of control, organizational culture, and job satisfaction. Initially, a deep understanding of the topic is developed after studying number of articles, books and other literature. A competing quantitative model is then developed where job satisfaction is considered as a mediating variable. Data was collected from a sample of 462 employees of telecom and pesticide industry. The proposed model was then tested using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). AMOS was used to identify best fit. As reported in this thesis, the proposed model has been modified according to fit indices. The results of the model illustrate that locus of control has significant impact whereas organizational culture does not have any significant impact on the turnover intentions.
