Mathematics has always been an important subject for every student because of its extensive application in the day-to-day life. Despite its importance and application in daily life, the teaching and learning of mathematics in primary schools is mostly textbook based that does not allow students to a see connection between their learning of mathematics in classroom and its use in their day-to-day activities or their careers. As a result, students perceive mathematics as a worthless subject with no use in their daily life. Thus, it is felt that there is a genuine need to study this issue in order to develop a positive image of mathematics as a practical and worthwhile subject. Therefore, I conducted this qualitative case study on 'how Grade 4 mathematics teachers connect students' learning of mathematics to their daily life experiences in public sector primary schools in Gilgit-Baltistan. Using qualitative case study method, data was collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations and document analysis. Research participants included two mathematics teachers from two public sector schools of Gilgit-Baltistan that have been developed as project schools by the Aus-Aid funded project,"Education Development and Improvement Programme". Implemented by the Professional Development Centre (North) of Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (PDCN-AKU-IED). The findings of the study revealed that connecting the teaching and learning of mathematics to students' daily life stimulates students' thinking, motivates and develops curiosity to recognize mathematics in their surroundings and to apply their learning of mathematics to day to day activities. It was also found that the teaching of mathematics through practical examples from the local context develops in students a positive attitude towards mathematics and its learning. As a result, the students' image of mathematics changes from being a dry and abstract subject to an interesting, practical, and worthwhile subject. Another finding of the study is that teaching mathematics through connecting it to students' daily life experience requires the teacher to have strong knowledge of mathematical concepts, innovative pedagogical skills and understanding of mathematics used in the local context. The study revealed that the textbooks used in schools, the examination system and the teachers' lack of content knowledge and pedagogical skills greatly influence students' learning, conceptual understanding and application of mathematics. Based on the findings, the study draws a number of conclusions having implications for mathematics teachers, schools, education department, and teacher education institutions.

ایاز اصغر شاہینؔ(۱۹۴۳۰ء) ڈسکہ میں پیدا ہوئے ۔۱۹۶۶ء میں ایم۔ا ے اردو کیا اور ۱۹۸۳ء میں گورنمنٹ کالج شکر گڑھ میں اردو لیکچرا ر تعینات ہوئے۔ ادبی زندگی کا آغاز نویں جماعت سے ہوا۔ اصغر شاہین نے سیالکوٹ میں کئی طرحی اور غیر طرحی مشاعروں میں حصہ لیا۔ (۹۹۸) اور اپنے فن کے جوہر دکھائے۔

ان کا شعری کلام مختلف ادبی رسائل وجرائد میں شائع ہوتا رہا۔ اب تک ان کا کوئی شعری مجموعہ طبع نہیں ہوا۔ شاہینؔ غزل اور نظم کے شاعر ہیں۔ ان کی شاعری میں تغزل کا عنصر نمایاں ہے۔ غزل ہو یا نظم، حمد ہو یا نعت، قطعہ ہو یار باعی ،قصیدہ ہو مرثیہ ہر صنف سخن میں وہ سوزِ دروں کو شامل کر کے اس فن پارے کو امر کر دیتے ہیں۔ ان کا ایک ادبی کارنامہ یہ ہے کہ انھوں نے قرآن مجید کے مختلف پاروں کا منظوم اردو ترجمہ کیا ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ بیـشتر احادیث اور متفرق آیات کا بھی منظوم ترجمہ کر کے اپنی قادر الکلامی کا ثبوت دیا ہے۔ ان کی شاعری کا اہم موضوع عشق حقیقی ہے۔ شاہین ؔکا نمونہ کلام ملاحظہ ہو:

نام سے ہے اس خدا کی ابتدا

 

7مہرباں بے حد رحیم اس کی ثنا

 

5بس خدا کی ذات ہے اس کے سوا

 

9کوئی ہو سکتا نہیں ہرگز اِلہٰ

 

1ہے میسر اس کو دائم زندگی

 

اونگھ نیند آتی نہیں اس کو کبھی

 

آسمانوں میں زمیں میں جو بھی ہے

Mawlānā abu Sa'ad Ahmed Khan's sincerity, piety, adherence to the sunnah of the prophet and simplicity in his lifetime made this monastery a unique city in the subcontinent and a centre of universal growth and guidance. Gave after him Mawlānā Abdullah Ludhianvi, Khwaja Khan Muhammad and Khwaja Khalil Ahmad continued his mission. In addition to reforming the human population, the shuyūkh of this monastery has been following the sunnah of the prophet, reforming society, promoting education, preserving the belief at the end of prophethood, patronage of madrassas and religious parties, charitable work and promoting Naqshbandiyya.  And the emperors and officials have done their best to play their role in the implementation of the Islamic system and the establishment of the justice system in the country. Mashaikh of the monastery broke the intellectual statement of the religious schools by imparting practical training, Self-purification, spiritual asceticism, religious support, prophetic politics and modern insights. On the other hand, volunteer religious services and selfless sacrifice to bring the right path to the people, as well as the public meetings, strong character and perseverance religious influenced by source. Through his voluntary religious services and selfless sacrifices, he tried to bring them to the right… In this way, these gentlemen addressed the masses through Zikr, strong character and religious perseverance, influenced by source.

Tetra-Primers Based Genotyping of Rs6511720 Polymorphism in Ldlr Gene and Association With Ldlcholesterol Levels

Dyslipidemia is an abnormal amount of lipids (e.g. triglycerides, cholesterol and/or fat phospholipids) in the blood. It is classified as presentation in the body (together with the specific type of lipid that is increased and underlying cause for the ailment (genetic, or secondary to another condition). Low density lipoprotein receptor gene is known as most important in the development of dyslipidemia. In this study, blood from patients (n=25) and normal individuals (n=25) were used to estimate lipid profile and DNA extraction. Lipid profiling was done through spectrophotometer technique. DNA extracted using standard organic method. DNA quantification will be done on agarose gel electrophoresis and nano-drop. Tetra-primers were designed for rs6511720 polymorphism in the LDLR gene to genotype through ARMS PCR technique. Designed ARMS PCR primers will be useful run on agarose gel to identify the genotype. Genotyping data was analyzed using statistical technique. 389bp was achieved in all of the samples which was control band and will be used to produce allele specific bands i.e. of 257bp and 192bp. Though the intensity of control fragments was weak, the samples are correctly genotyped as evident from the sequencing and BLAST results. Statistical analysis has shown the conformance with HW-principle showing that the samples were collected randomly. But association was not found because of low sample size. T-ARMS may be proven as rapid test to diagnose the mutation in LDLR gene causing the early prognosis of the dyslipidemia
