The study exploring the role of parents of children with Special Education Needs (SEN) in Inclusive Education was carried out in a private mainstream school in Karachi, Pakistan, which includes children with SEN. This study was carried out through a qualitative research paradigm, by using semi-structured interviews and document analysis. The primary participants of the study were four parents of children with SEN studying in a mainstream school. The two class teachers and the principal of the school were also the research participants. The findings of the study suggest that most parents of SEN children play different roles at different times, such as the role of a teacher, an advocate, a researcher and a monitor, in order to ensure full participation of their children with SEN in mainstream schools. However, their respective role is determined by their level of education, their socio-economic background, family's support, cultural practices, and most importantly, their own attitude and awareness about the importance of mainstream schooling of their children with SEN. The study also shows that in a Pakistani society, mothers and fathers of children with SEN play specific roles, which is mostly influenced by our cultural practices and perceptions. Fathers are the primary bread winners of the family and bear the responsibility of earning for the family. They have less interaction with their children and are not even expected to share the nurturing responsibilities with the mothers in the day-to-day activities of children with SEN. Therefore, in most cases, the mothers play a dominant role. They mostly stay at home and consequently take the responsibilities of all their children. However, the decision of sending their children to a mainstream school is taken mainly by fathers, with little consultation from the mother's side. This study also shows that there are some facilitating factors supporting the parental decision of including their children in mainstream schools; for example, family support, and their socio-economic background, their participation in trainings and workshops held by psychologists and therapists, and also the special educators in the school, all these help the parents in understanding the problems of their children with SEN. However, parents also face many challenges which hinder their role in inclusion of their children with SEN in mainstream schools; for example, their socio economic background, recognition of the rights of their children with SEN as well as cultural barriers, such as attitudes of people influenced by their beliefs about

یہ خبر سن کر بڑا صدمہ ہوا کہ ۴؍ مارچ کو پروفیسر محمد یونس نگرامی کا انتقال ہوگیا، اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون۔ ادھر مہینوں سے ملاقات نہیں ہوئی تھی، لکھنؤ آنے جانے والوں سے ان کی علالت کی خبر ملتی تھی مگر یہ خیال نہیں تھا کہ وہ اتنی جلد رختِ سفر باندھ لیں گے۔
ان کی پیدائش لکھنؤ ضلع کے مردم خیز قصبہ نگرام میں ۱۹۴۱؁ء میں ہوئی تھی، ان کا خاندان علمی و دینی حیثیت سے ممتاز تھا، درس و تدریس، تالیف و تصنیف اور وعظ و ارشاد اس کا طرہ امتیاز تھا۔ ان کے والد مولانا محمد اویس نگرامی ندوی دارالعلوم ندوۃ العلماء لکھنؤ میں شیخ التفسیر تھے۔ وہ دارالمصنفین کے رفیق اور مولانا سید سلیمان ندویؒ کے محبوب تلامذہ میں تھے، ان کی صحبت میں مولانا کے تفسیر و قرآنیات کے ذوق کو بڑی جلا ملی، بعد میں وہ دارالمصنفین کی مجلس انتظامی کے رکن بھی ہوئے۔
پروفیسر محمد یونس نگرامی نے اپنے والد ماجد کے زیر سایہ دارالعلوم ندوۃ العلماء میں تعلیم پائی۔ پھر جامعہ اسلامیہ مدینہ منورہ گئے، لکھنؤ یونیورسٹی سے پی۔ایچ۔ڈی کی ڈگری لی، پہلے یونیورسٹی کے شعبہ عربی میں لکچرر اور اب کئی برس سے پروفیسر ہوگئے تھے۔
ان کا تحقیقی مقالہ ’’ہندوستان میں عربی زبان و ادب‘‘ کے موضوع پر تھا، ان کی دوسری کتب و رسائل کے نام یہ ہیں۔ تھوڑی دیر اہل حق کے ساتھ، خیالات، مثالی خواتین، نماز کیسے پڑھیں، تذکرہ مولانا محمد اویس نگرامی، تقدس حج، خلیجی جنگ وغیرہ۔

Islam has given lot of contemplation for economy and society in which the notion of concurrent cooperation is on top of the list and its basis are brotherliness, compassion and peace.  As compared to this, the concept of modern world is mutual cooperation and the practical implementation of it. In the form of mutual cooperation bank, mutual cooperation state and insurance are there in front of us. Although these institutions took their first step and would assist mutual cooperation but with the passage of time this concept got too evanesced. Islamic elements for example usury, gambling and treachery got mixed in the roots of these institutions. Islam dissuades these elements strictly because these elements become the causes for the deterioration of people’s economy and society. On the contrary, Islam wants to establish those institutions which are based on practical mutual cooperation and which are beneficial for both man and society.

Efficient Framework for Macroblock Prediction and Parallel Task Assignment in Video Coding

Video coding is an integral part of numerous real-time multimedia applications such as video telephony, telemedicine, video conferencing and video streaming. In real-time mul- timedia systems or power constrained systems, the coding performance of modern video coding standards such as High E ciency Video Coding (HEVC) and H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding (AVC), is limited by computational complexity. This thesis presents research work to develop techniques to reduce the computational complexity of video encoders and to exploit their data and task level parallelism. These techniques aim to provide signi cant complexity saving as well as improving coding e ciency. A computationally e cient framework for macroblock prediction is developed to re- duce the computational complexity and overheads related to the macroblock prediction process in video encoding. The framework consists of several innovative techniques to exclude as many intra and inter prediction modes as possible prior to the RDO (rate distortion optimization) process. In the best case, the proposed framework selects one MB type either intra or inter and one corresponding near-optimal prediction mode, so that the complete RDO process is neglected. Simulation results show that the proposed framework achieves signi cant complexity savings without any signi cant degradation in video quality. In addition, a complexity reduction technique for motion compensation is developed to perform inter prediction. This addresses the computational complexity issues related to both interpolation and data manipulation modules of the motion compensation process. The end results of the experiments display that this method prominently decreases the computational complexity without loss in rate-distortion performance. Finally, an end-to-end hybrid hardware-software implementation scheme based on pipelin- ing and multitasking for advanced video coding is presented. This scheme exploits the task and data level parallelism in video encoders to improve their coding e ciency. The parallelism is exploited at both coarse-grain level andne-grain level. The coarse-grain level parallelism exploitation is done by concurrently executing multiple tasks on di er- ent processing cores whilene-grain level parallelism is achieved by using SIMD (single instruction multiple data) instructions. Such exploitation of parallelism also helps to better utilize the computational power o ered by advanced media processors. The out- comes of the experiments reveal that suggested scheme has resulted in enhancing the encoding rate and reducing power consumption. In theeld of video coding the main achievement of this research can be given in a nut shell as: (a) Development of computationally e cient techniques for macroblock predic- tion type and partition selection. (b) Development of complexity reduction algorithm based on intra and inter prediction mode selection. (c) Development of a computation- ally e cient scheme for motion compensation. Finally, (d) development of end-to-end vii hybrid implementation scheme for H.264/AVC encoder that exploits its data and task level parallelism to improve coding e ciency. These innovative techniques may prove handy in real-time implementation of H.264/AVC and HEVC video encoders in computationally constrained environments as is the case in general purpose computers and low-power mobile devices.
