Teaching English is both fun and a complex process that requires utilization of lots of teaching techniques and methodologies. Especially during teaching English in primary classes, resources are very essential elements. In most government run primary schools, private and NGO-based, English is taught as a subject, with an emphasis on reading and writing skills including textbook exercises. Quite often, students are not given enough learning opportunities, as they are taken as passive listeners, who are just prepared for passing examinations by rote memorizations. Research suggests that children learn more through activities. They learn language through interaction, learning environment, observation, and discovery. They explore new ideas and also learning by doing things practically (Krashen, 1985; Piaget, 1973; Vygotsky, 1962). All these things are possible through resource-based teaching. Hence, I decided to work on developing resources for teaching English reading and writing for primary classes, as my educational project. This project entailed activities, such as; workshop for teachers on teaching of reading and writing skills, sessions on resource development, demo lessons to show use of these full form resources, visit to Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) Learning Resource Center (LRC), and development of resources for school's Learning Resource Centre. All activities, throughout the project were monitored to gauge strengths of the activity and also areas of improvement. Various monitoring tools were used, for example; my daily reflective notes, observation checklist, teachers' evaluation form, and my ongoing observations throughout the educational period. The monitoring data and the overall experience suggest that these activities enhanced team work, generated confidence and raised participants' self-esteem. It also enhanced teachers' pedagogical content knowledge, skills and helped in changing the attitude towards resource-based teaching and learning. It provided me a way to improve myself and to develop more resources within limited time. An important aspect of any educational project is its sustainability. Following strategies are adopted to ensure the same on a long-term basis of this project; participant teachers will train other teachers, teachers will bring their classes into the LRC especially for the teaching English, and the school management will get involved in maintenance and adding new resources to the LRC. All the activities that were done during the project built our confidence and our understanding as to how resource-based teaching enhances learning of Language.

The research reveals significant insights cited by Ibn Al ‘Irāqī in his book "Toḥfah Al Taḥṣīl" on the illusions of Al-‘Alā'ī in his book "Jāmi Al Taḥṣīl". It highlights the scientific value of those illusions that Ibn Al-‘Irāqī pointed out. Several of them are related to narrators of hadith and their issues of hearing from their sheikhs. Many of those illusions are related to the chain narrators (isnad), the main text of the report (matn), or their position in the books of sunnah. There are no previous studies on this subject. I put the sequential insights I revel under headlines through which one can realize the illusions that Al-Ala'i fell in. I conclude with the perceptions that both Ibn Al-‘Iraqī and Al-‘Alā’ī have shared. I don’t mention my opinion after each insight for Ibn Al-‘Iraqī; however, my silence is an approval to what he said. When I went against him or it was important to mention any comment or information, I openly said my opinion and explained the reasons for my opposition. Some of the research findings are: Al-Ala'i ignores mentioning the narrator's gap (irsal), although Al-Mizzī mentions it in his book "Tahdhīb", or the scholars mention it before both of them.  He describes the narrator having a gap (irsāl) and attributes it to Al-Mizzī.  He added notes like "he didn't encounter him" and formulated expressions that weren’t mentioned by neither Al Dhahabī nor Al-Mizzī. He references a Ḥadīth to a book that it is not included in.

Exploring the Perceptions of Graduate Students About Formative Feedback Strategies on Their Written Assignments at Higher Education

Expertise in academic writing provides opportunities to the graduate students to produce high quality papers and assignments for successful completion of their graduates' courses. Therefore, formative feedback strategies helped students to produce quality assignments. The study has highlighted several factors that impede the process of feedback. Understanding these factors, therefore, was integral in helping students to improve their written assignments at the graduate level. This study aimed to explore graduate students' perceptions about formative feedback strategies on their written assignments in a public sector university in Pakistan. Six students from the final cohort of the four-year B.Ed. programme were selected purposefully as primary participants and two teachers; one Assistant professor and one senior Lecturer were selected as secondary participants. Data generated from teachers' interviews helped in triangulation of the findings. In addition, data collection tools were document analysis, interviews from teachers and focus group discussion with students. The data were analyzed based on Creswell's model of analysis (2013) that dealt with organization of the raw data, general sense making, codification and identification of emerging themes. Moreover, there is a continuous back and forth approach by reading and rereading the data repeatedly. The study revealed that students perceived teachers' feedback on their writing as incredibly important for the quality of their written assignments. They were of the view that teachers were using different forms of formative feedback strategies such as debriefing conferences, corrective and directive feedback, facilitative feedback and peer feedback. Furthermore, the entire discourse also revealed few important hindering factors such as teachers' workload, teachers' lack of competency, lack of permanent teaching faculty, and institutional policy. Moreover, the students articulated concerns such as teachers were reluctant and not professionally equipped to provide effective feedback on their writing specimens. The findings have implications for teachers to think and rethink about their feedback strategies in classroom particularl producing well-written assignments for a graduate course. In other hand, students are also need to understand the improtance of peer and self assessment than that to rely on teachers feedback for all the time. Moreover, Roushan University needs to make formative feedback as an integral part of the policy framework to focus of the development of graduate students' writing skills to meet the demands of a graduate course.
