There are different opinions and individual teachers' beliefs about mathematics teaching. Teaching is a complex task shaped by many external and internal influences, including the beliefs held by individual teachers. The present study has looked into the existing relationship between teachers' beliefs about mathematics and their teaching practice in the classroom. It also aimed to understand what were the teachers' beliefs about mathematics and about mathematics teaching, which they used to define their practice in classroom. The participants were two mathematics teachers of primary and lower-secondary, from a private school in Karachi city. This study has found that teachers refers to a variety of aspects about mathematics and its teaching. However, the findings indicate that the beliefs focus on two key aspects; teachers' transmission of knowledge and teachers' personal experience about teaching and learning mathematics. The ways in which these issues influence teaching and learning of mathematical concepts at hand is considered. The nature of teachers' beliefs and the ways in which they influence their practice is questioned. Additionally, it was of particular importance to compare and contrast the beliefs of participants in order to gain knowledge about their understanding of mathematics in relation to the context in which the experience took place. Because of the existing teachers' beliefs, teacher educators and teacher education programs could consider alternative ways of thinking about and addressing beliefs, particularly the potential of building on rather than tearing down pre-existing beliefs. The improvement of mathematics teaching and learning in our schools will be guided by the findings from the present study and through the ongoing assessment of school mathematics programs.

خواجہ عبدالروف عشرت، لکھنؤ داروغہ حیدربخش کی مسجد کے نیچے کتابوں کی ایک چھوٹی سی دوکان پر بیٹھا کرتے تھے، مگر خدا جانے کیا بات ہے یہ چھوٹی سے معمولی حیثیت کی دوکان نصف صدی تک لکھنؤ کے اہل علم و ادب کا مرکز بنی رہی، اور میں نے بھی چالیس برس اس چھوٹی سی دکان کو اسی طرح علم و ادب کے قدرشناسوں کا مرکز دیکھا، اس وقت جب لکھنؤ کا چوک بجلی اور گیس کی روشنیوں سے جگمگارہا تھا یہی دکان تھی جس پر پرانا مٹی کا چراغ جلا کرتا تھا، اور دنیا کو وضعداری کی روشنی دکھاتا تھا، افسوس کہ زبان و ادب کا یہ ٹمٹماتا ہوا چراغ بھی بجھ گیا۔
خواجہ صاحب گو خود غیر معمولی شاعر نہ تھے، مگر لکھنؤ کے بڑے بڑے شاعروں کی صحبت اٹھائے تھے، بحرؔ مرحوم کے شاگرد تھے، نظم سے زیادہ نثر لکھتے تھے اور لکھنؤ کی راجدھانی اور لکھنؤ کے جانعالم کی کہانی ان کا خاص موضوع تھا، لکھنوء کی بول چال اور محاوروں اور روزمرہ کو بخوبی برتتے تھے، نیک مزاج، وضعدار اور قناعت پسند تھے، اﷲ تعالیٰ مغفرت فرمائے۔ (سید سلیمان ندوی،جولائی ۱۹۴۰ء)

 

حلالہ اور مروجہ حلالہ سنٹرز: ایک تجزیاتی مطالعہ

Almighty Allah made marriage a source of affection and love among the human beings. He also ordered to uphold this relation as much as possible. If, on one way or the other the relationship of a couple becomes so unpleasant that their family life becomes impossible to move any more further. In this case the Islamic “Sharia’h” recommends opening of the ways for their respectable separation in the shapes of “Divorce” and “Khula’a” (divorce obtained on wife’s initiative, s). Though Islamic sharia’h has declared “Divorce” as legal act, yet marriage being a great sacred relation which is desired to be retained intact to the maximum, it has been named as the most unpleasant among the permissible acts in Islam. Some human beings very abruptly break the same relation (Nikah) without proper consideration. Some of these persons later on repent on what they have done. Allah Almighty  therefore, very affectionately has allowed men after uttering two times the words, ‘Divorcee (Talaq) at different times to reconcile with their wives. But if he disrespecting this great relation stress-passes the final time and utters the word “Divorce” (Talaq) for the third time in his life so the religion has fixed certain punishment for his this very irresponsible act as a punishment that though, both spouses may agree to continue their married life, Islam does not allow them to do so, prior to undergoing the process of re-marrying  the woman with another person to fulfill the condition of her reunion with her first husband. This process is called “Halala”  In the article under reference side by side with presenting the literal meaning and idiomatic definitions of Halala, its Shari status has also been elaborated. Efforts  have been intensified to recollect the different views of all jurists  regarding this practice and examine the same analytically. In addition to that with the help of irrefutable proofs, the adverse effects of the so called “Halala, s centers” have been proved to warn the people to stay away from them.

Zamzam Water: Pharmacological and Therapeutic Application and Toxicological Limitation

Zamzam water is obtained from zamzam well which is located in the Saudi Arabia’s divine locality called Mecca in the holy mosque Al-Haram. Usually in wells growth of microorganisms, their spores and plant vegetation occurs, but zamzam is free from biological contamination. Furthermore zamzam has significant health benefits; it produces healing and antimicrobial action due to presence of many minerals such as calcium, magnesium, zinc, fluoride and many others. Zamzam Studies and Research Center regulates demand and supply of water and also examines zamzam for its chemical and microbial composition. The composition of zamzam water showed the presence of calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride in high concentration. Other constituents including zinc, antimony, beryllium, bismuth, bromine, cobalt, iodine, manganese, chromium and titanium are also found in zamzam water in traces. Heavy metals are also present in zamzam water such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, and selenium.The alkaline nature of zamzam water accounts for its various positive effects on health and the presence of antioxidant constituents in zamzam water could be related to its therapeutic efficacy in different diseases. Zamzam water has previously been studied for its therapeutic role in curing dental carries, diabetes, infertility and cancer.The purpose of this study was to explore the therapeutic efficacy and toxicological profile of zamzam water. In this study we determined the composition as well as effects of zamzam water on CNS profile (cage crossing, open field, stationary rod, head dip, light and dark, forced swimming test), brain biogenic amines estimation, anti-Parkinson activity, analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity, anticonvulsant activity, blood profile, lipid profile, liver profileand renal profile.Results suggest that zamzam water possesses remarkable therapeutic effects. Zamzam water can act as an anxiolytic, memory enhancer, antidepressant, anti-cataleptic, anticonvulsant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. Furthermore it has positive effects on hematological, lipid and renal profile. The effects on liver profile should be further evaluated. It can be postulated that the presence of minerals and trace elements such as IX zinc, magnesium, iron, calcium, selenium and lithium in zamzam water can account for these beneficial effects. Our study further revealed that although arsenic level is high in zamzam water but even after chronic administration of zamzam water for 60 days adlibitum, there was no sign of toxicity shown in animals. This effect is due to unique composition of zamzam water. The presence of calcium, magnesium, selenium and zinc in zamzam water not only decreases arsenic absorption and its distribution in various organs but also neutralizes the arsenic induced toxicity on different organs. However further studies are required to explore the interaction of different elements and metals present in zamzam water and their effects. Thus we can conclude that zamzam water has not shown any toxic effects and it has remarkable therapeutic and beneficial effects on health even in the presence of arsenic in its composition.
