The Role of Media in the Development and Promotion of English in Pakistan This research study is centered on the role of media in the development and promotion of English in Pakistan. It relates to the national process and to the process of globalization in terms of information through T.V, radio and newspapers. It also deals with the challenges in this field, due to the advent of science and technology plus current innovations in this mode of communication. In recent years the media in Pakistan has developed at a fast pace and English has become one of its prominent languages. However, its lack of understanding by 90% of the population has created serious gaps in internal communication. To bridge the existing gap, the study looks at how media can be instrumental in the spread of English language and be a useful tool for improving the English language teaching situation. The study addresses the topic by taking a look at the language situation in Pakistan. Unlike many post colonial states which replaced English with indigenous languages, Pakistan retained English as an official language. However due to lack of a clear cut language policy towards English language teaching it has remained a controversial issue, badly affecting the process of education and development. This has impacted the language situation and its impact leads us to think and reinvent the role of media for teaching it. Given its premier position as the language of international commerce and science, proficiency in English is increasingly acknowledged as vital attribute for any state attempting to establish itself as knowledge based economy. This need is imperative as we are living in a global world. Globalization and issues related to it force us to have a futuristic vision. There is a need to equip our people to meet the demands of modern education. Therefore, we must introduce our students to it at an early stage and provide this opportunity to a large number of people as opposed to the privileged few. Electronic and print media by introducing English to the neglected sector of the society can play a unifying role to integrate the nation. It is in this back drop, the findings of the study are expected to suggest an essential direction of using media for instructional purposes, particularly to bring a constructive change in English language teaching in the country. A multi-method approach has been applied for the collection and analysis of the data. This has been done as triangulation yields more reliable results. This study has been concluded with the hope that media will look into this vital area and fulfill its responsibilities.
ڈاکٹر ہادی حسن افسوس ہے پچھلے دنوں علی گڑھ میں ڈاکٹر ہادی حسن کابھی انتقال ہوگیا۔ مرحوم مسلم یونیورسٹی میں فارسی کے بڑے دیرینہ پروفیسر تھے،انگریزی اورفارسی دونوں زبانوں کے بڑے خوش بیان مقرر اورفارسی شعروادب کے نامور محقق تھے، حافظہ بلاکاتھا ،کسی کتاب کے صفحہ کے صفحہ بلا تکلف اپنی یاد سے پڑھ دیتے تھے۔ مسلم یونیورسٹی کے علاوہ ملک کی دوسری یونیورسٹیوں میں بھی ان کے علم وفضل اور تقریر وخطابت کی دھوم تھی۔ متعدد بلند پایہ کتابوں اورمقالات کے مصنف تھے۔ان کے فیضِ تعلیم وتربیت نے سینکڑوں نوجوانوں کو علم و فن کااستاذ اورماہر بنا دیا۔ بیوی کی وفات اور یونیورسٹی کی ملازمت سے سبکدوش ہونے کے بعد بالکل گوشہ نشین اورزندگی سے بیزار ہوگئے تھے،مگر مطالعہ اور تصنیف وتالیف کا شغل پھر بھی جاری تھا۔خوداُن کاذاتی کتب خانہ بڑی تعداد میں اہم اوربعض نادرالوجودکتابوں پر مشتمل ہے۔اﷲ تعالیٰ مغفرت ورحمت سے نوازے! Today in the world, the human beings are crunch in crimes in developed society or in undeveloped society. As a result the whole world has become insecure and unsafe. A society and nation can perish and drowned due to its cruelty and crimes. The Muslim society is also being victims of such crimes. According to the scholars the basic reason of this issue is illiteracy and get for away from Islamic teachings while fearless from God and from the Day of Judgment, social injustice, instability, destabilization, disunity and dis-integrity, away from knowledge, negative role of media and impatience tolerance are also considered as major factors. The scholars and reformers are suggested to control the crimes through laydown of justice or establishment of Courts and spread of knowledge, bring awareness among the peoples, establishment of educational institutes in a society. In this article it has been point out the major causes of social crimes and their potential remedy in the light of Qur’an and Sunnah.
Brucellosis is one of the world’s major zoonotic problems. It may cause considerable economic losses. In livestock, it results in reduced productivity, abortion, weak offsprings and is a major impediment for the trade. Almost all domestic species can be affected by this disease. Aim of the present study was to know the prevalence of brucellosis in different food animals and humans. For this purpose, 2375 serum samples were collected. Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT) and Serum Agglutination Test (SAT) was applied for initial screening and then positive samples were subjected to i-ELISA and c- ELISA for conformation. Experimental infection was induced in rabbits to study the histopathological changes in different organs. The data thus collected was interpreted and subjected to statistical analysis. The sero-prevalence of brucellosis in relation to age, sex, parity and stage of lactation of the animal was determined.
