آہ مولانا ابوالمحاسن محمد سجاد بہاری!
پچھلے دونوں ہندوستان نے اس خبر وحشت اثر کو نہایت رنج واندوہ سے سُنا کہ مولانا ابوالمحاسن سید محمد سجاد بہاری چندروز کی علالت کے بعد اس دنیائے فانی سے رخصت فرماگئے۔خبر چونکہ بالکل غیر متوقع طورپر ملی تھی اس لیے فرط حزن والم نے حیرت کی صورت اختیار کرلی۔ یعنی ہم یہ جانتے ہیں کہ ہماری بزم علم وعمل کاکوئی لعل شب چراغ گم ہوگیا ہے، لیکن اس احساس کے باوجود تحیر کی فراوانی ہم کو رخصت گریہ اورفرصت نوحہ بھی نہیں دیتی۔
مولانا ابوالمحاسن محامدِ اخلاق اورمحاسن فضائل کے جامع تھے۔فکر ونظر،علم و عمل، محنت ودیانت،تفقہ وتدبر،ایثار وجفاکشی،خلوص وﷲیت۔ان سب اوصاف کے بیک وقت جمع ہونے نے اُن کی ذات کوایسا گلدستۂ خوبی بنادیا تھا کہ وہ’’ای تو مجموعۂ خوبی بچہ نامت خوانم‘‘کا مصداق بن گئے تھے اوراُن پر’’ابوالمحاسن‘‘کی کنیت واقعی طورپر صادق آتی تھی۔ہندوستان میں کوئی قومی اورمذہبی تحریک ایسی نہیں ہے جس میں مولانا نے پورے جوش وخروش کے ساتھ حصہ نہ لیا ہو اوراس میدان میں اپنے ساتھیوں سے پیش پیش نہ رہے ہوں۔سب سے بڑی خوبی یہ تھی کہ اُن کادماغ نہایت دقیقہ رس اور معاملہ فہم تھا۔وہ موضوع فکر کے ایک ایک پہلو پربڑی سنجیدگی اورعالی ہمتی کے ساتھ غوروخوض کرتے تھے،اوراُس میں ایسی ایسی باریکیاں پید اکرتے تھے کہ لوگ حیران رہ جاتے تھے۔وہ عملاً بڑے جری اوربہادر تھے لیکن اُن کادماغ انتہائی جوش وخروش کے عالم میں بھی کبھی مغلوب نہیں ہوتاتھا۔جذبات کی گرمی کے ساتھ وہ ہر معاملہ پرٹھنڈے دل سے غور کرتے تھے۔حق یہ ہے کہ جماعت علما ہند میں وہ اپنی گوناگوں خصوصیات کے لحاظ سے گوہر یکتا تھے۔بقول کسی کے وہ ہرشخص کی قائم مقامی کرسکتے تھے لیکن اُن کی قائم مقامی کوئی نہیں کرسکتا۔فواحسر تاکہ ہماری انجمن کایہ گل سرسبدآج خزاں دیدۂ اجل ہوکرآغوش لحد میں آسودۂ...
In the early days of Islam, either of the married couple entering into Islam does not affect their marriage contract and it continued to be valid even after the Emigration of the Holy Prophet (peace and mercy be upon him) to Madina. In fact, it has been observed until Hudhabiya Truce was signed. It was also included the terms if someone from Quraish without accompanying the wali approaches the Holy Prophet (Peaceand Mercy be upon him), he/she will be returned to Makkah. After this agreement, many women came to Madina and embraced Islam. But their spouses and relatives followed them their way to Madina. They claimed them back to Makkah. In this respect, Allah almighty revealed a verse of Surah Mumtahina, which is an express evidence that such believing women must not be returned to their former infidel husbands. They were commanded so to marry believing husbands after their separation from their disbelieving spouses. Through this verse, Muslim husbands were forbidden to stay and have conjugal relations with their nonbelieving wives, too. Similarly, every believing wife was forbidden to reside with her disbelieving husband. The companions abided by the ruling in its entirety and separated from their non- believing spouses. Jurists have derived many instructions from the verse 10 of Surah Mumtahina, which are discussed in this paper.
With the death of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) the enemies of Islam had started their intrigues to create
obstacles against the fast growing and spreading message of Islam or Quran and Sunnah. In eighth
century the Christian missionaries were seriously apprehended from the great successes and victories of
the Muslim in European countries. They, thus, tried their best to oppose Islam and Muhammad (S.A.W)
through their unscientific and polemical writings (e.g. the writings of Johan of Demascus) and their
military or warlike activities (e.g. long-duration Crusades of 11th to 13th centuries). But they did not
succeed to destroy the Muslims and Islam in medieval times. In the 17th and 18'1' century, the period of
renaissance, the trend of scientific study on Sirah from original sources started but could not promote
with true spirit of seeking real knowledge. During this period, thus, a dangerous Orientalism had taken
place, which caused British and French Colonialism and afterwards the imperialism.
This confrontation between the East (especially the Muslims or Arab countries) and the West continued
and aggravated even in 20th century when America appeared on the map of the world. Now, beyond any
doubt, the Orientalism was definitely meant for seeking of knowledge of the Islamic sciences and of
Muslim countries for the purpose of gaining power, domination and possessions of Muslim countries and
their economic resources especially the oil-resources of the Arab world. The most important Orientalists
promoting the power-based scholarship are Huntington, Bernard Lewis, Berger, Fukuyama etc.
The pure scientific era of research i.e. the 20th century was expected to give the right direction to the
Orientalists' research on Sirah. But, the works of the Orientalists are still creating the hatred and enmity
between the two civilizations such as the tricky and dangerous works of W. Montgomery Watt have been
serving the same purpose. Although, he presents an attractive rhetoric in his works but the medieval style
of unscientific research is still continuing in the form of modern scientific research which does not
provide objective study but a purely religiously biased study on Sirah. This dissertation aims at
contributing towards scientific point of view and to review the studies by the Orientalists.
