بھائی توفیق فاروقی بھی اﷲ کو پیارے ہوگئے
موت توسب ہی کوآتی ہے اورآنی ہے ہی،جوچیز پیدا ہوئی ہے اسے فنا بھی ہونا ہے۔ موت بھی آنی ہے۔لیکن کچھ حضرات کی موت سے ایسا غم وصدمہ اور دکھ ہوتاہے کہ غم بھلانے سے بھی نہیں بھول پاتاہے۔
برہان میں وفیات کا صفحہ لکھاجاچکا تھا، شمیم عثمانی اور حضرت مولانا وحیدالزماں کیرانوی کے انتقال کی تعزیتی تحریر سپرد قلم کی جاچکی تھی کہ ابھی ابھی خبر ملی ہے کہ ’’خاتون مشرق ‘‘ اور ’’گلابی کرن‘‘ کے مدیر جناب توفیق فاروقی مورخہ ۲۴؍اپریل ۱۹۹۵ء بروز پیر کو عارضہ قلب میں مبتلا ہوکر انتقال فرماگئے ۔انا ﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون ۔
مرحوم توفیق فاروقی مجاہد آزادی مولانا عبداﷲ فاروقیؒ کے فرزند اکبر تھے، بڑے ہی ملنسار خلیق و متواضع اور یوپی ودہلی کی تہذیب ووضعداری کے نقیب و علمبردار تھے۔ انہوں نے ’’خاتون مشرق‘‘ اور ’’گلابی کرن‘‘ جیسے رسالوں کے ذریعے مشرقی خصوصاً مسلمان خاتون کو نیک وباعمل اورعفت وعصمت کاپیکر بنانے کا بڑا ہی اچھا اورقابل ستائش کام کیا۔
مفکر ملّت حضرت مفتی عتیق الرحمان عثمانیؒ سے مرحوم توفیق فاروقی اوران کے والد مرحوم مولانا عبداﷲ فاروقی نے ہمیشہ رہنمائی حاصل کی۔احقر عمیدالرحمن عثمانی سے بڑی محبت وعقیدت رکھتے تھے کہتے تھے کہ بھئی تم تو مجاہد ہوکہ اپنے ابّاجان اور ملّت کے رہبر مفتی صاحب کی یادگار ادارہ ندوۃ المصنفین اوررسالہ برہان کوقائم رکھاہوا ہے۔اﷲ تمہیں سلامت رکھے تمہارا دم بڑا غنیمت ہے۔
ذاتی معاملات میں مفتی صاحب کی وفات کے بعد بڑی مدد کی حمایت کی، بہرحال مرحوم توفیق فاروقی بڑے زندہ دل انسان تھے انہوں نے ادب و صحافت کی خدمت کی، ملک وملّت کی خدمت کی۔مسلمان عورت کواسلامی خاتون بنانے کے کاموں کوبڑی اچھی طرح انجام دیا۔اﷲ تعالیٰ غریق رحمت فرمائے اٰمین۔

The paper sets out to discuss impact of socio-cultural barriers on social empowerment of rural women in term of decision making related to their personal as well as social life in Sahiwal division. Pakistan is a patriarchal society characterized by patri-local residence and exclusion of women from the right of inheritance and succession, which pave ways for male-headed society. In addition, socio-cultural factors strongly favour male-dominance and an inferior status of females in all walks of life. A quantitative approach was adopted for carrying out current study. A survey instrument was designed and employed for data collection from 384 respondents from rural areas of Sahiwal division. The findings of the study revealed that less than one third (31.25%) of the respondents were consulted in decision-making about domestic matters. Likewise, more than half (51.8%) of the respondents were not independent in moving out of home for meeting any social need. Similarly, more than one third (41.4%) of the respondents were not free to visit their friends in the neighborhood. The study concludes that women in the rural areas are less empowered and still suffering socially, economically and psychologically in their day to day life. The study provides an insight for professional social workers, policy makers and stakeholders in public and private sectors for influencing policy-making and planning for revisiting and redesigning existing policies and plans intended for empowerment of rural women in Pakistan
This study investigates the role of financial and operating leverages in firms? profitability before and after financial recession/crisis of 2008 focusing on chemical sector firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). The period of study selected is from 2004 to 2015. The ROE is taken as dependent variable. The Financial Leverage (FL) and Operating Leverage (OL) are chosen as independent variables or predictors. Three other variables like Assets Utilization (AU), Non-Debt Tax Shield (NDTS) and Age have been introduced as control variables. Another variable named Pre/Post is introduced as a dummy variable for the indication of pre and post financial crisis 2008.
A population of all 43 firms listed on PSX is selected. The 29 chosen firms relate to the chemical sector directly whereas 14 firms are indirectly related to the chemical industry.The data used in the analysis has been gathered from secondary sources i.e. from the SBP?s publications. The regression model used is panel linear model (PLM). The unbalanced data panel has been used in the analysis. Similarly, the random effect approach has been applied.The Stata statistical software has been used to estimate the relationship between predicted/dependent and predictor/independent variables.
Following outcomes have been accomplished after the examination; the FL has a negative but significant relationship with the firm?s profitability whereas the OL has a positive but non-significant relationship with the firm?s profitability. The AU has shown a positive and significant relationship with the firm?s profitability. Whereas other predictors like Age, NTDS have proved a positive but non-significant relationship with the firm?s ?ROE?. Both types of leverages have shown a negative impact on the firm?s profitability after the global financial crisis in 2008.
