آہ! جناب مولوی حافظ محمد منصور نعمانی ندوی مرحوم
دارالعلوم تاج المساجد بھوپال کے استاد جناب مولوی سید شرافت علی ندوی کے ایک خط سے معلوم ہوا کہ دارالمصنفین کے سابق رفیق مولوی منصور نعمانی ندوی صاحب کا اچانک حرکت قلب بند ہوجانے سے ۱۶؍ فروری کو بھوپال میں انتقال ہوگیا۔ اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون۔
ان کا سانحہ وفات ان کے والدین، اعزہ اور احباب کے لیے نہایت سخت اور اندوہناک ہے، بظاہر وہ توانا، متحرک، چاق و چوبند اور صحت مند تھے، بیماری دل کا تو شبہہ بھی نہ تھا، اپنے خانگی مسائل سے فکر مند ضرور تھے مگر کسے پتہ تھا کہ رخت سفر سمیٹنے میں ایسی عجلت کریں گے :
آہ کتنی مشکل زندگی ہے! کس قدر آساں ہے موت
وہ ندوہ کے باصلاحیت فرزندوں میں تھے، تعلیم کے دوران ہی ان کی صلاحیتیں ظاہر ہونے لگی تھیں، چنانچہ اسی زمانہ میں ان کے مراسلے صدق جدید میں بار پانے لگے تھے، وہ ندوہ کی انجمن الاصلاح کے ناظم ہوئے تو ان کے دور نظامت میں رشید احمد صدیقی مرحوم نے وہ اہم توسیعی خطبہ دیا جسے عزیزان ندوہ کے نام سے شایع کیا گیا حصول تعلیم کے بعد وہ تاج المساجد میں درس و تدریس کے فرائض انجام دینے لگے، ساتھ ہی نشان منزل کے عملاً مدیر بھی رہے ان کی سعی اور تدبیر سے اسکا معیار بلند ہوا، ۱۹۷۷؁ء میں وہ دارالمصنفین کے رفیق کی حیثیت سے تشریف لائے یہاں انھوں نے حافظ سخاوی، شیخ عبدالقادر عیدروس اور حافظ سخاوی کی تصانیف جیسے علمی مقالے سپرد قلم کیے، تاریخ ادبیات مسلمانان پاکستان و ہند کی بعض اہم فروگذاشتوں پر انھوں نے جس وقت نظری سے توجہ دلائی اس کا وزن محسوس کیا گیا، بعض اسباب کی وجہ سے وہ یہاں زیادہ دنوں قیام نہ کرسکے اور تلاش معاش میں سعودی عرب چلے...

In the early days of Islam, either of the married couple entering into Islam does not affect their marriage contract and it continued to be valid even after the Emigration of the Holy Prophet (peace and mercy be upon him) to Madina. In fact, it has been observed until Hudhabiya Truce was signed. It was also included the terms if someone from Quraish without accompanying the wali approaches the Holy Prophet (Peaceand Mercy be upon him), he/she will be returned to Makkah. After this agreement, many women came to Madina and embraced Islam. But their spouses and relatives followed them their way to Madina. They claimed them back to Makkah. In this respect, Allah almighty revealed a verse of Surah Mumtahina, which is an express evidence that such believing women must not be returned to their former infidel husbands. They were commanded so to marry believing husbands after their separation from their disbelieving spouses. Through this verse, Muslim husbands were forbidden to stay and have conjugal relations with their nonbelieving wives, too. Similarly,  every believing wife was forbidden to reside with her disbelieving husband. The companions abided by the ruling in its entirety and separated from their non- believing spouses. Jurists have derived many instructions from the verse 10 of Surah Mumtahina, which are discussed in this paper.

Mathematics Teachers Selection and Use of Instructional Materials

The purpose of the study was to investigate how secondary school mathematics teachers select and use instructional materials. It was a qualitative study. The data were collected through observation, interview and document analysis. Instructional materials play an important role in school curriculum as they contain the content of a subject matter. Often teachers look at instructional materials, such as textbooks as curriculum. However, the instructional materials alone do not build the curriculum. It is the encounter between teachers, instructional materials and students that brings about the enacted curriculum. The findings of the study showed that teachers' selection of instructional materials took place mainly at the school level and the departmental level. At the classroom level the teachers' autonomy concerning selection of material was found limited and was concerned with the how of teaching only. The classroom teaching was found more textbook directed. The teachers' selection of the content was selective and was influenced by several factors such as instructional time, syllabus, beliefs about teaching and learning, and beliefs about technology. The study also identified several issues related to teachers' selection and use of instructional materials. Teachers' selection was guided by cognitive, syllabus and management concerns. However their analysis did not go beyond to broader sociological issues, for example, gender bias, which was reinforced by the teachers' unawareness of the issues. Design errors appeared to be another issue whereby the teachers were not concerned with precisions, which could be the possible sources of student misconceptions. Based on the findings the study suggests that the departmental plans and decisions should be more flexible and give teachers autonomy in selecting instructional materials within their classrooms. It also suggests that the teacher development programs should pay more attention to enabling teachers to analyze the instructional materials for content as well as for sociological issues imbedded in them.
