4اپریل1979ء کو لیاقت باغ راولپنڈی میں چئیر مین بھٹو شہید کی غائبانہ نمازِ جنازہ میں شامل ہو نے والے یہ لوگ ان بہادر لوگوں میں شامل تھے جنہوں نے پھانسی کے بعد مارشل لاء کے ڈر ،دہشت اور خوف کے باوجودلیاقت باغ کے ارد گرد پولیس اور فوج کے حصار کو توڑا اور بندوقوں کے سائے تلے چئیرمین بھٹو شہید کی نمازِ جنازہ ادا کی ۔سلام ہے ان بہادروں کے قبیلے سے تعلق رکھنے والوں کو، ان میں سے جو لوگ زندہ ہیں وہ کسی بھی تمغہ شجاعت کے حقدار ہیں ۔میری حالت ایسی تھی کہ اس مجمع میں شامل ہو نے کے باوجود مجھے نہیں پتہ کہ کب صفیں باندھی گئیں اور کب جنازہ ختم ہو ا۔میرا دماغ شل تھا ۔ذہن جیسے کام کرنا چھوڑ گیا تھا ۔میرے پاس کوئی ٹینک توپ نہیں تھا کہ جنرل ضیاء الحق کے گھر آرمی ہائوس پر چڑھ دوڑتا خود بھی مر جاتا اور سب کو جلا کر خاک کر دیتا ۔بی بی سی نے رات کو خبر دی تھی کہ کل صبح لیاقت باغ چئیر مین بھٹو کی نمازِ جنازہ ادا کی جائے گی ۔میں جو پوری رات سو نہ سکا تھا ۔چیئر مین بھٹو شہید کی رہائی کی تحریک میں بھر پور شر کت کے باوجود ہم اپنے لیڈر کو بچا نہ سکے ۔جب راولپنڈی کے کمیٹی چوک میں کار کن اپنے آ پ پر پٹرول چھڑک کر آگ لگاتے مجھے افسوس ہوتا کہ کاش یہ اپنے آپ کو آگ لگانے کے بجائے سپریم کورٹ اور اور آرمی چیف کے گھر کو آگ لگائیں ۔لیکن کیا کرتے نہتے کار کن اپنے قائد کو چھڑا نہیںسکتے تھے ۔پھانسی لگتا ہوا دیکھ نہیں سکتے تھے ۔خود سوزیاں کر کے اپنی جان اپنے قائد پر نچھاور کر دیتے یا بھٹو کو رہا کرو جیوے جیوے...

Youth is no doubt the asset of Muslim world. If they are utilized in charitable activities; in the protection of respect and honor; and developmental works, they can prove to be beneficial and a blessing. While if they are taken by destructive elements in their hands they will become source of destruction and harm. By providing proper Islamic education, our future will be in safe hands and will breath in an air of respect among other nations. In young age, deterioration in manners and moral corruption are alarming and cause mischief in society. Therefore, the interest taken in the problems of youth will result in a progressive society and ummah. Islam has given a special place to youth and has declared them future architect and leaders of humanity. The holy prophet S.A.W has given much importance to the youth and focused on them during his life time.  In Islamic history, Muslim youth has represented the Muslim world in golden words and has spread the message of Islam’s moral height and greatness to the coming generations and nations. Due to the importance of youth problem of the youth in current time regarding lack of education and training are particularly discussed in this article. The research article begins with the detailed study of the research done in the area of education and socialization of youth. Moreover, the importance of education and socialization has been discussed in the light of the teachings of Quran and Hadith. After this, decadence in education, factors responsible for the decadence in education and its worse consequences have been thoroughly discussed in the light of the teachings of Islam.  As there are several reasons responsible for the downfall of education like: parents, teachers, education system, society, state, preachers, political parties and media, therefore, responsibility of the remedy of this lack of proper education and socialization also depend on all these stake holders. In the end of the paper, recommendations are given for the cure of decadence in education.

Potential of Medicinal Plants and Bacteriocins Against Foodborne Pathogens

Bio-preservation is the use of natural antimicrobial compounds from medicinal plants, herbs and spices and bacteriocins produced by lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The plants and spices produce various metabolites having antimicrobial activities against food spoilage and pathogenic micro-organisms. Some microorganisms including bacteria and fungi also produce several metabolites with antimicrobial potentials. The present study was aimed to characterize the extracts from selected plants and spices and bacteriocins from LAB as food preservatives through in-vitro activities, chemical profiling and food applications. The medicinal plants/spices (tejpal, green tea, thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper) and LAB (Streptococcus thermophiles, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactococcus lactis ssp. lactis and Lactococcus lactis ssp. cremoris) were selected. Plants and spices were extracted and tested for antimicrobial, thrombolytic and antioxidant activities, biofilm and DNA damage inhibition, hemolytic and Ames assays. The ethanolic extracts of green tea and thyme were selected on basis of optimal levels of activities and characterized through spectroscopy for chemical profiling. The LAB were propagated and tested for their antimicrobial activity. The green tea and thyme extracts and bacteriocin producing LAB were added individually and in combinations in cheese and bread manufacturing to evaluate their role as food preservatives. The antibacterial potential of extracts showed the significant extent of the activity against B. subtilis and E. coli. The antifungal activity exhibited the highest antifungal activity by C. sinensis against A. niger and A. flavus. Antioxidant potential exhibited the highest phenolic and flavonoid content in C. sinensis and C. verum. The radical scavenging DPPH assay also showed the significant antioxidant capacity of selected plants. The cytotoxic evaluation through hemolytic assay and DNA damage protection showed no toxicity in any plant extract. The characterization through chromatography and spectroscopy confirmed the presence of phenolics, flavonoids and alakloids. The antibacterial assay performed to assess bacteriocins activity of selected LAB revealed their strong bacteriocins activity. The food application concluded that bacteriocins producing LAB alone or in combination with selected plant extracts can efficiently be added in cheese and bread as preservatives. It was concluded that the green tea and thyme as well as bacteriocins producing LAB has potential to act as food preservatives. They can provide remarkable preservation prospects, if added in combinations.
