Libraries have changed and embraced new traditions all over the world but in Pakistan, we are still stuck with the perception of 'BORING OLD BOOKHOUSES". There is a certain conventional building style we associate with libraries and have rather forgotten that the relationship between books and architecture is much more complex. We have two emerging problems, on one hand, our libraries are dying and on the other, our generations are giving up on book reading. Each is the solution to others. Libraries need to be transformed as an active social space, where some might debate how technology has made us more connected than ever, we are suffering from a global epidemic of loneliness. It is about time rethink our libraries, they shouldn't be quiet anymore they should roar!
