Abstract
Workaholismisoneoftheleastresearchedphenomenainorganizational behaviorresearcheswithinthecontextofPakistan.Itisakintootherformsofaddictions.This studyattemptedtodefine,upholdandmeasureworkaholismwithintheaddiction framework in order to address some of the gaps in previous researches. The predictors of workaholismweredrawnusingthetraittheoryandthesociallearningparadigm,both havingbeenusefulinexplainingworkaholism.Atthesame time,theconsequencesof thisaddictionhavealsobeentackledbydevelopingapremiseforfocusingonthe aggressive and well-beingliterature. A total of 1467 faculty membersserving the higher educationinstitutionsalloverPakistanservedasthesample foranalysis,througha multistagesamplingapproach.Themethodologicalcontributionincludedtheuseof hierarchical component modelingwhereby, the variables were treated as formative at the secondorder.Resultsofthestudyrevealedthatpredictingworkaholismasanaddiction held true.It also established that workaholism can be a risk factor for aggression within the institutions impacting employee well-beingthrough the indirect effect. However, this mediation proved to be complementary.
