Abstract
The aim of this doctoral study was to examine factors that significantly effect on the low-grade students’ ability to choose their desired careers according to their employability capacities. Generally career choices are made without the awareness of selection and recruitment processes criterion in chosen profession and such career decisions ultimately concludes with disappointment due to failure in initial stage of the selection and recruitment processes. The study initiated and preceded with review of available related literature that led to development of conceptual framework, to collect data, sample population comprising of students from 9th to 12th grade classes was identified from different schools by employing survey questionnaire. Data was carefully examined and after it’s cleansing through social scientific research tools and software. Analyzed 572 surveys, received from students of 9th grade to sophomore of different academic institutions, out of which two were situated in urban area and one was in rural area. Every regression analyses yielded significant calculations and the sums of minimal variance marked. The results indicate significant relationship between awareness of selection and recruitment process and students’ career decision making, career choices and career choice persistency. This study also suggests that successful and effective career decision making requires the comprehensive knowledge of selection and recruitment process of desired profession. Significant impact of the familial, societal and academic institutions influences was observed on students’ career decision making, career choices persistence and selection of college majors as well. This study revealed that junior students should have given awareness about selection and recruitment process and criterion so that they can choose personality-environment fit professions according to their gender, aspirations and physical standards. This study may contribute theoretically and practically towards the career guidance and counseling with new change approached for this region in particular. Researcher identified and discussed a set of limitations, recommendations and prospective for future studies in conclusion.
