Abstract
Background: The need for effective health care professional’s team is importantowing to increasing complexity of patient careandmounting co-morbidities. Interprofessional collaboration among healthcare professionals offers appropriate collaborative management for patients. Objective: To assess the Attitude and Barriers towards Interprofessional Collaboration in Hospitals among Health Care Professionals of Lahore, Pakistan. Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted. In 6 months’ time period after synopsis approval. Attitudes towards health care teams scale (ATHCT) and Barriers scale towards Interprofessional collaboration was used. All eligible Health Care Professionals was taken using convenience sampling and Informed consent from all. The categorical data and Responses on each item obtained was analyzed by using the SPSS statistical software version 21. Results: Majority of the respondents (response rate = 88.1%) had positive attitude towards Interprofessional Collaboration as majority strongly agreed on 9 positive statements towardsIPC. StatisticallyMajor Barriers were Role and leadership ambiguity 68.6%, Different goals of individual team members 68.1%. Conclusion: Healthcare professionals have positive attitude towards IPC. Major barriers were lack of understanding of each other roles, combined goal plan and less interprofessional training and education.
