A prospective study was conducted in order to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of immunochromatography assays for qualitative detection of hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C virus antibodies, using commercially available rapid test devices. Rural population of district Chakwal visiting primary care hospitals for screening of hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus infections was selected as study population. Coagulated blood specimens were collected from a total of 500 individuals; serum was separated and stored at -20 C till analysis. Necessary demographic information with previous exposure and screening history of each individual was also recorded in pre designed performa. The stored serum specimens were analyzed for detection of hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C virus antibodies through immunochromatography technique (ICT) and enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) using commercially available ICT rapid test devices and ELISA kits. Out of total 500 specimens analyzed through ICT for HBs Ag detection, 15 exhibited positive outcome for the infection whereas analysis of the same specimens through standard ELIS test revealed 16 true positives. One of the ICT tested specimens was therefore recorded as false negative. The sensitivity of rapid test device for HBs Ag detection was therefore 93.75% with 100% specificity, 100% positive predictive value and 99.8% diagnostic accuracy. Similarly 34 of the 500 ICT tested specimens exhibited positive outcome for hepatitis C virus infection whereas 37 true positives were recorded when same specimens were analyzed through standard ELISA test. The sensitivity of ICT rapid test device for HCV Ab detection was therefore 91.89% with 99.57% specificity, 94.44% positive predictive value, 99.35% negative predictive value and 99% diagnostic accuracy. The findings indicate that the rapid diagnostic immunoassays, in spite of requiring minimum time and equipment, are not comparable with standard ELISA for screening of hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus infections.

One of the core issues in contemporary economic trends is the fair and just distribution of wealth into the society. In this research, a comparative study of ‘distribution of wealth’ in Capitalism, Communism and Islam has been conducted. Qualitative research method is adopted for the analysis of data. The review of literature reveals that central ideas of Capitalism, Communism and Islam are ‘liberty’, ‘equality’ and ‘justice’ respectively. After evaluating the basic infrastructure, methodological framework and practical consequences of these three systems, it has been established that Capitalism and Communism have badly failed in maintaining fair distribution of wealth. Both (Capitalism and Communism) enhanced global inequality which could be assessed from the present economic condition of world as half the world’s wealth is now in the hands of just 1% of the population. On the other hand, Islam has ensured the just distribution of wealth by taking two revolutionary steps: by giving 18 compulsory and 6 optional commandments about circulation of wealth and by overruling all means of hoarding. Moreover, unlike Capitalism and Communism, Islam has given special instructions to distribute wealth among poor, disable, and helpless persons of society who are incapable of participating in the process of production. These measures promote peace and prosperity in society and reduce the ratio of poverty. In the light of above findings, it is concluded that only Islamic economic system can guarantee the just and fair distribution of wealth. It is, therefore, recommended that Islamic countries should implement the Islamic economic system in order to get rid of economic instability.

Role of Perceived Organizational Justice in Organizational Commitment: Evidences from Kpk Universities

The research study aims to investigate the role of employee’s perceptions as they perceive with regard to organizational justice and its effect on the commitment among employees of Public & Private sector Universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The research investigation focused on the relationship between the five dimensions of organizational justice over the three dimensions of organizational commitment. The population of the study includes faculty and non-faculty employees. The determined sample size of 1,090 employees is further derived on proportionate sampling method for each university. The questionnaires were self-administered employing convenience sampling technique. The questionnaire for Organizational justice was adapted from Price & Mueller (1986) while commitment was measured by using Meyer and Allen (1997) model comprising of three components; affective, continuance and normative commitment. Inferential statistics including; factor analysis, correlation and multiple regressions and paired t test were employed. The findings of the study revealed that all the five dimensions of organizational justice (distributive, procedural, interactional, informational and interpersonal) have a significant impact over the commitment amongst the employees of the target population. However, human resource practices (training and development, involvement and socialization) proved as significant moderators for the relationship between employee’s job commitment and organizational justice. The perceptions about the organizational justices and the employees’ commitment of public sector universities employees were positive in comparison to the private sector employees. The study therefore, recommends that the universities should enhance their organizational justice, so that they can easily reap the positive output from their highly committed employees.
