In this work, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopic Technique was applied for detection of heavy metals and other contaminants in solid and liquid samples. This technique was applied for qualitative as well as quantitative measurement of elemental concentration present in test samples. A special chamber was designed and fabricated for analysis of solid samples in which provisions were made for insertion of sample, its rotation, evacuation, and introduction of various gases at different pressures. The LIBS system was calibrated and applied for determination of contaminants present in the samples in the pellet forms. Then the system was applied for sample collected from sites such as crude oil waste dump, greenhouse soil, oil spilled contaminated site, mine ore waste, iron slag, and chromium contaminated site from different locations of Saudi Arabia. The role of various binding material in the LIBS performance for trace elemental analysis of powder samples was also investigated. The influence of ambient environment such as pressure, temperature, nature of buffer gas on emission feature of solid sample was studied as well. Prior to LIBS application to the actual samples, the important parameters influencing LIBS performance were optimized. In this regard the effect of laser energy, distance between fiber optics and target material, limit of detection, precision, accuracy, repeatability, delay time were optimized. The concentrations detected with our LIBS system were verified by the conventional method such as ICP and the relative accuracy of the system for various elements was compared and found in the range of 0.03 - 0.6 at 2.5 % error confidence. Most of the elements under investigation showed maximum signal intensity at delay time between 4.0 and 5.5 μs and laser pulse energy between 20 mJ to 140 mJ. Prior to application of LIBS the plasma parameters such as temperature and electron density were also measured as these parameters play vital role in the sensitivity of LIBS system. The plasma temperature for iron slag sample was estimated using Boltzman plot of LIBS intensity for neutral iron lines and Stark broadening. The maximum plasma temperature and electron densities at 40 mJ energy was 5554 K and 1.46 x 1016 cm-3, respectively for these samples. In order to analyze the liquid samples different setups were developed and tested. The aim of fabricating the setup for liquid samples analysis was to keep the LIBS system simple, and to improve accuracy & limit of detection of elements under investigation. Calibration curves for metals of interest were drawn from standard solution of these metals in distilled water. Later, the system was applied for quantitative detection of contaminants in wastewater samples collected from paint industry, syringe manufacturing industry and dairy plant. The results obtained with our LIBS setup were comparable with that obtained from ICP. The experience gained through this work can be useful for the development of a portable LIBS system for on-line analysis of contaminated sites with heavy metals for improvement of the environment and controlling the pollution at industrial sites.

In today's era, drug is the first and one of the bad elements that effected the society with loss. According to the reports of WHO, two billions people are alcoholic in irrecoverable the world. Drug users are additional to this volume of alcoholic people. The dignity of humanity is planned and maintained by prohibiting all types of drugs. Social values are things by Shareeha. Thousands of getting worse and worse by ignoring the prohibited the families are nearby the destruction, divorce ratio is badly increasing. Builders of the According to different Ahadees, use of future of Ummat are putting their lives to big risk. Day of drugs and alcohol are the symptoms of getting near to the end of world judgment. We can see easy access to these poisonous things around us, destructing the health and characters of our youth in the shape of liquid, capsule, tables and many more. We tried to shortly brief about the use of all these prohibited things in the article bellow.

Biological Evaluation of Some Selected Plant Species of Pakistan

Five methanol extracts from four different plant species [Salvia nubicola B. (Laminiaceae), Hedera nepalensis K. (Araliaceae) Acer oblongifolium D. (Aceraceae) and Sorbaria tomentosa L. (Rosaceae)] were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity (by antibacterial and antifungal assays), toxicity activities (by brine shrimp cytotoxicity assay, radish seed phytotoxicity assay), antitumor activity (by potato disc assay) and antioxidant activities (by DPPH scavenging assay, ABTS+ assay, DNA protection assay and TBARS). Leaf and stem extract of A. oblongifolium exhibited significant antibacterial activity against all pathogenic strains tested, while none of the extract presented any antifungal activity against six pathogenic strains tested. Two of the five extracts (L+S) A. oblongifolium and (L+S) H. nepalensis revealed significant ED50 value i.e. 47.7 ppm and 226.8 ppm respectively in case of brine shrimp cytotoxicity assay. Growth inhibition was observed by all extracts in radish seed bioassay at high concentration (10,000 ppm). At low concentration (1000 ppm) three extracts from two plant species (leaves and flower extract of S. nubicola, stem extract of S. nubicola and stem extract of H. nepalensis) presented stimulation of growth ranging from 3.5 to 43.2%. Inhibition of tumor formation ranged from 9 to 82.9% by all extracts in antitumor potato disc assay at three different concentrations tested (1000, 100, and 10 ppm). A positive correlation was observed in the results of three of the described assays (toxicity assays i.e. brine shrimp cytotoxicity assay and phytotoxicity assay and antitumor potato disc assay). Four methanol extracts from three selected plant species i.e. Salvia nubicola (Lamiaceae), Acer oblongifoium (Aceraceae) and Hedera nepalensis (Araliaceae)) were screened for their antioxidant potential. Antioxidant activities were investigated in aqueous system by using DPPH scavenging assay, ABTS+ radical scavenging assay and DNA protection assay while in lipid system by using TBARS (Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances). Total phenolic contents were determined by using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent. Methanol extract of leaf and flower of S. nubicola showed the highest trolox equivalent values in case of DPPH scavenging assay i.e. 2484.08 ± 4.9 as well as total phenolic contents i.e. 342.08 ± 19.8. Fractionation of methanol extract of S. nubicola by semi-preparative HPLC yielded three fractions (A, B and C). Fraction B was found to be the most active in DPPH scavenging assay with highest phenolic contents as estimated by using Folin- Ciocalteu reagent. Analytical scale HPLC and LC-MS results revealed presence of rosmarinic acid in fraction B of S. nubicola while chlorogenic acid and rutin were identified as major antioxidants in methanol extract of H. nepalensis.
