The optimum treatment outcome of radiation therapy depends on accurate determination of radiation dose which is possible only after the detail analysis of quality assurance procedures in the Radiotherapy Treatment Planning, ensuring dosimetric characteristics of the machines and precise treatment execution. It was intended to develop dosimetric phantoms to imitate the actual patient’s anatomy for authentication of absorbed dose in target tumor and to assure the quality of radiotherapy treatment. An anthropomorphic PRESAGE ® phantom was created in the shape of a breast for external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Five fields intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), three field partial breast and SAVI 6-1 applicator brachytherapy plan was used to evaluate the breast phantom. The anthropomorphic breast PRESAGE ® was scanned with the Duke midsized optical CT scanner (DMOS-RPC) and optical density (OD) was converted to dose distribution. Comparisons were performed between the dose distribution calculated with the Pinnacle 3 treatment planning system, GAFCHROMIC® EBT2 film and PRESAGE ® for IMRT and 3DCRT partial breast plan. Oncentra® Master Brachy planning was also used for the comparison of PRESAGE ® and GAHCHROMIC® EBT2 film measurements. For IMRT, Gamma map comparisons showed that Pinnacle 3 well agreed with PRESAGE ® for more than 95% of comparison points of the planning tumor volume (PTV), passed ±3%/±3 mm criterion when the outer 8 mm of phantom data were excluded. Edge artifacts were observed in the optical CT reconstruction, from the surface to a depth of almost 8 mm. For 3DCRT partial breast planning Dose Volume Histograms (DVHs) of gross tumor volume (GTV), clinical tumor volume (CTV) and PTV for the PRESAGE ® dosimeter and Pinnacle 3 treatment planning system confirmed a likeness of 97.8% of the prescribed dose. Gamma map comparisons showed that all three distributions agreed with greater than 95% of comparison points passing the ±3% / ±2 mm criterion. DVHs of the skin and PTV_EVAL (PTV_ Evaluation) Brachytherapy for PRESAGE® and Oncentra® differed by a maximum of 4 to 8% respectively. A prostate anthropomorphic viRPC (Radiological Physics Center) phantom was also used which contained TLD (Thermoluminescent dosimeters) and GAFCHROMIC® EBT2 film to evaluate the spot scanning proton therapy. The results of spot scanning proton therapy shows that the Right/Left, Inferior/Superior and Posterior/Anterior aspects of the coronal/sagittal and EBT2 film measurements were within ±7%/±4mm of the treatment planning system (TPS). This work demonstrates the feasibility of the PRESAGE ® to be fashioned into anthropomorphic shape and establishes the accuracy of Pinnacle 3 for breast IMRT as well as for 3D and brachytherapy planning. Furthermore, the extension of this work can lead to investigate 3D dosimetry with more complex anthropomorphic phantoms. RPC-Anthropomorphic prostate phantom could be used to establish quality assurance of spot scanning proton beam within certain confidence levels. The quality of treatment can be improved with the utilization of PRESAGE® in both external beam radiotherapy as well as brachytherapy. An anthropomorphic phantom is a good substitute of actual patients’ and can be a valuable tool for treatment planning in all types of radiation therapy including spot scanning proton therapy for authentication of absorbed dose measurements and resultantly can increase the accuracy and quality of the treatment.

افسوس ہے ابھی مولانا عبدالماجد دریابادی کے اشک ماتم خشک بھی نہیں ہوئے تھے کہ اردو ادب وانشا کے میدان کاایک اورشہسوار گرا یعنی پروفیسر رشید احمد صاحب صدیقی نے کم وبیش پچاسی برس کی عمر میں علی گڑھ میں وفات پائی اور وہیں سپردخاک ہوئے۔ مرحوم کا اصل وطن جونپور تھا لیکن طالب علمی کے زمانہ میں علی گڑھ آئے تو بس یہیں کے ہوکر رہ گئے، یہیں انھوں نے تعلیم حاصل کی۔ اُس زمانہ میں اردو میں ایم۔اے نہیں ہوتاتھا اس لیے فارسی میں ایم۔اے کیا، پھر یہیں اردوکے لیکچرر ہوئے اورایک عرصہ کے بعدریڈر بنے۔ڈاکٹر ذاکر حسین صاحب جن کومرحوم ہمیشہ مرشد کہتے اورلکھتے تھے اُن کی وائس چانسلری کے زمانہ میں پروفیسر ہوگئے لیکن اس عہدہ پرفائز ہوئے ابھی دو ہی برس ہوئے تھے کہ ملازمت سے سبکدوش کردیے گئے۔ یونیورسٹی کے قانون کے مطابق وہ ابھی توسیع کے مستحق تھے لیکن اس زمانہ میں یونیورسٹی میں جو سیاست چل رہی تھی وہ مانع ہوئی اور شیخ عبدالرشید(شعبۂ تاریخ)وغیرہ کے ساتھ یہ بھی ریٹائرڈ کرد یے گئے۔ مرحوم نہایت خوددار اورحساس تھے اس لیے انھوں نے شکوہ شکایت کسی سے نہیں کیا لیکن انھیں اس کااحساس عمر بھررہا چنانچہ وہ علی گڑھ میں ہی اپنے ذاتی طویل و عریض مکان میں ایسے گوشہ نشین ہوکربیٹھ گئے کہ نہ کبھی اردو ڈپارٹمنٹ میں قدم رکھا اورنہ یونیورسٹی کی کسی تقریب،کسی پارٹی اورفنکشن میں کہیں نظر آئے۔
مرحوم نے اگرچہ کوئی مستقل کتاب کبھی نہیں لکھی اورنہ کوئی علمی اورتحقیقی کام کیا لیکن وہ اردو زبان کے عظیم نکتہ دان اورادیب تھے، اس لیے مضامین کثرت سے لکھے جن کے دومجموعے ’ ’طنزیات ومضحکات‘‘ اور ’’مضامین رشید‘‘ کے نام سے طبع ہوکر ارباب ذوق میں مقبول اورمشہور ہوئے۔ علاوہ ازیں بعض خطبات بھی چھپے ہیں۔ ان کااردو، فارسی اور انگریزی ادب...

تعد قرارات اختيار الموقع من القرارات الاستراتيجية التي تستحق البحث والدراسة لمعرفة العوامل ذات الارتباط المؤثر في اختيار الموقع وبالنظر لاهمية موقع مصافي النفط من النواحي الاقتصادية والمالية والسياسية والاجتماعية ,فقد تم اختيار موضوع الدراسة لتسليط الضوء على (المفاضلة بين معايير الموازنة الراسمالية في قرار اختيار الموقع ).وتحددت مشكلة الدراسة في اهمية الكشف عن مدى استخدام المعايير المالية في اختيار الموقع ,وتم تطبيق الدراسة في ميدان مهم من ميادين الاقتصاد الا وهو القطاع النفطي كدراسة استطلاعية لاراء عينة من مديري شركة مصافي الشمال - مصفى بيجي ومن اجل تحقيق اهداف الدراسة,تم صياغة خمس فرضيات لغرض اختبارها على عينة تتكون من (30) مديرا في المستويات الادارية المختلفة ,وبهدف الحصول على البيانات والمعلومات المتعلقة بمتغيرات الدراسة اعتمدت المقابلات الشخصية فضلا عن الاستبانة للحصول عليها ,ولغرض تحليل الاستجابات واختبار الفرضيات ,استخدم الباحث عددا من الوسائل الاحصائية منها النسب المؤية والوسط الحسابي والانحراف المعياري ومعامل الارتباط بيرسون واختباري (f,t) والانحدار البسيط والمتعدد(Multiple Liner Regression)وتحليل المسار (Path Analysis)

New Matrix Development for the Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/ Ionization Maldi for the Analysis of Biomolecules and Metabolites Profiling of Oral Cancer for Biomarker Search

This dissertation comprises of seven chapters. First chapter summarizes the brief introduction of matrix assisted laser desorption/ ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS), its theory, applications, and significance in small molecule analyses. The second chapter summarizes the brief introduction of the development of metabolomics in omics sciences with relevance to oncology. While third chapter includes the oral cancer pathogenesis, classification, and its associated biomarkers. Fourth chapter is based on the possible increment in MALDI-MS sensitivity by increasing the ion generation via use of dopants in MALDI-MS matrices. These dopants constitute commonly used dyes, along with conventional MALDI-MS matrices which can significantly increase the ion intensity of standard proteins. Moreover, such effect remains consistent when applied to real samples (RSC Adv. 2017, 7, 6598–6604). Fifth chapter describes the successful application of 31 compounds of acylhydrazide, and isatin Schiff bases as alternate UV-LDI matrices for the analyses of peptides (<2000 Da) with significantly low background signals and showed comparable results with the conventional matrix (AJAC, 2012, 3, 779-789). Chapter six focused on the identification of distinguished metabolites of oral cancer tissue samples in comparison with precancerous and control tissue samples using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and chemometric analyses. Metabolites obtained were identified through National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) mass spectral (Wiley registry) library. Mass Profiler Professional (MPP) software was used for the alignment and for all the statistical analyses. 31 compounds out of 735 found distinguishing among oral cancer, precancerous and control group samples using p-value ≤ 0.05. The sensitivity and specificity of built model was found to be 85.7% and 93.3%, respectively, using statistically significant metabolites (Scientific Reports, 2016, 6, 38985-38993). Last chapter of the dissertation based on the distinctive identification of metabolites of oral cancer, snuff dippers and healthy plasma samples using GC-MS and chemometric analyses. Metabolites obtained were identified through NIST mass spectral library. MPP software was used for the data pretreatment and statistical analyses. 29 compounds were found distinguishing among oral cancer, snuff dippers and healthy group samples using p-value ≤ 0.001 and fold change ≥3. PLSDA model was generated using statistically significant metabolites which gave an overall accuracy of 89.2% (Submitted in Head & Neck).
