Scarcity of good quality irrigation water is one of the crop limiting factors in Pakistan. Information on the relative tolerance of different crop genotypes is necessary for the successful management of salt affected land and water. To investigate the effect of saline and/or sodic waters on growth, ionic concentration and biochemical changes in sunflower, a series of solution culture and pot experiments were conducted. Initially, 10 sunflower genotypes were grown for 30 days in hydroponics using five levels of saline and/or sodic water;T 1 (control), T 2 (EC 10.0 dS m -1 ), T 3 (SAR 20.0 mmol L -1 ) 1/2 , T 4 (RSC 5.4 mmol c L -1 ), T 5 (EC 10.0 dS m -1 ) + (SAR 20.0 mmol L -1 ) 1/2 + (RSC 5.4 mmol c L -1 ). On the basis of biomass accumulation and K + : Na + , ratio SF-187 and Hysun-33 emerged as salt tolerant and salt sensitive genotypes respectively. Subsequently, growth and yield response of these genotypes was evaluated in soil culture under various saline and/or sodic water treatments. Although, growth and yield of both genotypes decreased under saline and/or sodic water treatments but SF-187 produced a significantly (P ≤0.05) higher yield as compared to Hysun-33. In the next pot studies, Ca and Si were used @100 mg kg -1 soil to investigate their mitigating effect using same levels of saline and/or sodic water as above. Results revealed that calcium application partially offset the deleterious effects of saline and/or sodic waters and improved yield under RSC-water. However, Si significantly improved growth and yield of sunflower under saline and/or sodic water irrigation. The beneficial effects of Si were more pronounced in salt sensitive genotypes than in salt tolerant genotypes. Same sunflower genotypes when grown in solution culture, salinized with 100 mM NaCl revealed that 1 mM Si significantly enhanced activities of antioxidant enzymes as compared to 5 mM Ca. Finally, both sunflower genotypes were grown in pot culture and irrigated with saline sodic water. The results confirmed that Si alleviated salt stress and enhanced plant growth by stimulating activities of antioxidant enzymes and lowering lipid peroxidation in sunflower. Major mechanisms of Si mediated salt tolerance in sunflower include the maintenance of higher K + /Na + ratio, reduced membrane lipid peroxidation and enhanced antioxidative mechanism. Key words: sunflower, saline and/or sodic water, antioxidant enzymes, calcium, silicon

حضرت مولانا حماد اللہ ہالیجوی کی زندگی کا علمی جائزہ

Allah Almighty is the creator of the whole universe. He bestowed wisdom and intellect to humanbeings. He sent his prophets for their guidance. Prophets taught how to worship Almighty Allah by heart and serve humanity. After Prophets, it is the responsibility of religious scholars to guide people to the right way. Islam also explicitly encourages inward reform. Sub continent Indo-Pak has the privilege of being the gateway of Islam, as well as the benefit of great Islamists and brave people. The great scholars of Islam, Ulama, Hufaaz, Writers, Researchers, Intellectuals, Scientists and saints got birth on this pure land. These great personalities served their religion Islam with their self-determinations and eliminated the darkness of ignorance and eliminated the darkness of misguidance. Such great human lives and their educational, religious and literary activities have been documented, as the next generation could be aware of their great hostilities, writings and made their lives and their experiences as a model for themselves. Maulānā Ḥamadullah Ḥālajwī is one of them. He was a prominent pious Islamic scholar, researcher and a saint. He spent his whole life to follow the commands of Almighty Allah and the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH). He adapted his life according to the Sunnah. He used to do everything according to the Sunnah. He was a master of good personality and good character. His words were full of wisdom. During his meeting or statement, it seemed as if there was a sea of knowledge, whose ripples were visible in his sermons. He used to make great arrangements for payment of religious duties. He was very pious and devout. His life is an ideal life and his religious and academic services are unpredictable. Practicing the Sunnah had become his mark and identity. He urged others to follow the commands of Allah and His Messenger (PBUH). Sitting in the company of such pious saints is also considered in worship. The bigger his personality, the more humble and controversial he was. This is actually the identity of a mediator and scholar. He was oceans of knowledge and action. The vacuum created by his death takes a long time to fill. Such individuals survive for centuries.

Optimization of Svm for Sentiment Analysis

The growth of user?s generated contents increased exponentially onthe microblogging platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Blogger in the form of comments and opinions. This bulk of helpful data is difficult to analyse and also a time consuming task. So,an intelligent text mining system that can automatically analyse and categorise such vast user generated data is needed. Due to the noisiness in data, it is difficult to design such a processing technique because of spelling mistakes, grammatical errorsand improper punctuation. Automatic opinion extraction is a useful technique to monitor consumers'' feedback regarding any particular productsin terms of positive or negative. The management of customer relations can use these feedbacks to improve the products and services and ultimately can make the clients happy. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is one of the most famous and useful supervised machine learning technique used for sentiment classification and opinion extraction. Many extensions and modifications of this algorithm are available today. The purpose of this research is to improve the SVM accuracy through grid search technique for sentiment classificationof textual data.
