This thesis project focuses on the numerical solutions of selected nonlinear hyperbolic sys tems of partial differential equations (PDEs) describing incompressible and compressible flows. Such type of PDEs are used to simulate various flows in science and engineering. The underlying physics of such systems of PDEs is very complex and some mathematical and computational issues are associated with them. For instance, they may contain non conservative terms or may be weakly hyperbolic. The strong nonlinearity of the systems could generate sharp fronts in the solutions in a finite time interval, even for smooth initial data. Moreover, accurate discretization of the non-conservative terms is a challenge task for the numerical solution techniques. In the presence of non-conservative terms, well balancing, positivity preservation and capturing of steady states demand special attention during the application of a numerical algorithm. In this thesis project, we develop exact Riemann solvers for the one-dimensional Ripa model, containing shallow water equations that incorporate horizontal temperature gradients and considering both flat and non flat bottom topographies. Such Riemann solvers are helpful for understanding the behavior of solutions, as these solutions contain fundamental physical and mathematical characters of the set of conservation laws. Such solvers are also very helpful for evaluating performance of the numerical schemes for more complex models. Afterwards, third order well-balanced finite volume weighted essentially non-oscillatory (FV WENO) schemes are applied to solve the same model equations in one and two space dimensions and a Runge-Kutta discontin uous Galerkin (RKDG) finite element method is applied to solve this model in one space dimension. In the case of compressible fluid flow models, an upwind conservation element and solution element (CE/SE) method and third order finite volume WENO schemes are applied to solve the dusty gas and two-phase flow models. The suggested numerical schemes are able to tackle the above mentioned associated difficulties in a more efficient manner. The accuracy and order of convergence of the proposed numerical schemes are analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. A number of numerical test problems are considered and results of the suggested numerical schemes are compared with the derived exact Riemann solutions, results available in the literature, and with the results of a high resolution central upwind (CUP) scheme.

المحاسبة الإدارية فـي القـرآن الكـريم مـن خلال قصة يوسـف عـليه السلام: دراسة تأصيلية مقارنة

تناولت الدراسة قضية المحاسبة الإدارية فـي القـرآن الكـريم مـن خلال قصة سيدنا يوسـف عـليه السلام، وأثرها عـلى عـلم المحاسبة الإدارية بصورة خاصة وعـلوم الإدارة بصورة عامة، وتهدف الدراسة إلى بيان أقوال المفسرين والفقهاء قديمـا وحديثا مـع ذكر أقوال عـلمـاء متخصصي المحاسبة الإدارية وربطها بقصة يوسـف عـليه السلام فـي صورة عـلمية توضح أبعاد مقاصد القـرآن الكـريم الذي يجمـع جميع العـلوم المختلفة. واستخدم الباحث المـنهج الإستقرائي المقارن، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى مجموعة مـن النتائج أهـمها: أظهر يوسـف قدرته فـي إدارة أزمة سنين القحط التي أصابت مصر ومـا حـولها بصورة مثالية فريدة مـن نوعها فـي ذلك الوقت، حتى جعـل أهل مصر مـا رأينا ملك أفضل مـنه. ومـن أهـم التوصيات: يوصي الباحث طلاب العـلوم الإدارية ومديري الإدارات فـي مسيرتهـم المهنية أن يكون قدوتهـم فـي ذلك سيدنا يوسـف عـليه السلام.

Agronomic Biofortification of Wheat With Zinc and Iron under Different Nitrogen Regimes

Low available zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) concentrations in about 50% of the global land resulted in Zn and Fe deficiency of cereal grains. Nitrogen (N) fertilization not only increase the wheat grain yield but also facilitate the uptake of Fe and Zn in wheat grain. Improving N availability to plants brings significant increase in shoot Fe content and uptake and accumulation of Zn in wheat plants. Thus, an experiment was conducted at the Cereal Crop Research Institute (CCRI) Pirsabak, Noweshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan during 2014-15 and 2015-16 to study the response of wheat to N, Zn and Fe (micro-nutrients, MN) application. Treatments included three levels of N (90, 120 and 150 kg ha-1), three concentrations of Zn and Fe (i.e. 1, 2, 3 kg ha-1) each along with two controls i.e. no micro nutrients no water (unsprayed check) and no micro nutrients + water (sprayed check). The N was soil applied and MN was applied as foliar spray at booting stage. The experiment was arranged in RCBD, with four replications. Days to anthesis, leaf area tiller-1, leaf area index, plant height, days to physiological maturity, spike m-2, grains spike-1, thousand-grains weight, biological yield, grain yield, harvest index, grain Zn-concentration, grain Fe-concentration, grain protein content, grain gluten content were significantly increased by both N and Zn while the same parameters except days to anthesis, days to physiological maturity and spike m-2 were also significantly enhanced by using Zn. The use of Zn (3 kg ha-1) and Fe (1 kg ha-1) with 120 kg ha-1 of N significantly improved the grain yield (34.6%) of wheat over unsprayed check. The use of Zn and Fe at the rate of 3 kg ha-1 each with 150 kg ha-1 of N improved the grain quality parameters i.e. grain protein (24.5%), grain gluten (23%) and Fe content (29%) of wheat grains over unsprayed check. Application of Zn and Fe at the rate of 3 and 1 kg ha-1, respectively with 150 kg ha-1 of N resulted in increased grain Zn concentration (58%) of wheat over unsprayed check. It was concluded that wheat grain yield can be enhanced by using nitrogen at the rate of 120 kg ha-1 with Zn and Fe at the rate of 3 and 1 kg ha-1, respectively. The same combination also proved to be cost effective as compared to other treatments studied. However, quality wheat grains can be produced by applying Zn and Fe at the rate of 3 kg ha-1 each with 150 kg ha-1 nitrogen.
