Stochastic differential equation (SDE) is a differential equation in which some of the terms and its solution are stochastic processes. Stochastic differential equations can be formulated from given ordinary differential equations by introducing stochastic perturbations in it. SDEs play a central role in modeling physical systems like finance, biology, engineering to mention some. In modeling process, the computation of the trajectories (sample paths) of solutions to SDEs is very important. However, the exact solution to an SDE is generally difficult to obtain due to non-differentiability character of realizations of the Brownian motion. There exist approximation methods of solutions of SDEs. The solutions will be continuous stochastic processes that represent diffusive dynamics, a common modeling assumption for financial, biological, physical and environmental systems. This thesis presents a comprehensive survey on numerical methods for stochastic differential equations. Standard numerical methods, Euler Maruyama, stochastic Euler, stochastic Runge Kutta methods are well described. These methods have certain limitations and do not behave well in certain scenarios. A reliable stochastic non-standard finite difference (SNSFD) scheme is proposed which remains consistent for all choice of parameters. In this thesis, we described formulation of nonparametric perturbation techniques for stochastic models. The formulation is based on epidemiological model of humans, animals and plants. Also, this idea is extended for computer virus transmission and smoking models. A comparison of proposed stochastic non-standard finite difference (SNSFD) method with standard stochastic numerical methods is also presented. Explicit methods, such as Euler Maruyama, stochastic Euler, stochastic Runge-Kutta methods are widely used in solving systems of stochastic differential equations. It is well-known that solving stochastic differential equations with explicit finite-difference schemes such as Euler Maruyama, stochastic Euler, stochastic Runge-Kutta methods can result in contrived chaos and non-physical oscillations caused by numerical instability for certain values of the discretization parameters. Such scheme-dependent numerical instabilities can be avoided by using small time steps but the additional computing cost incurred when examining the long-term behavior of a dynamical system. To avoid unnatural chaos and other scheme dependent numerical instabilities, implicitly-driven explicit scheme with certain additional desired properties are generally preferred. The numerical integration of systems of stochastic differential equations over very long-time intervals requires the use of time steps which are the largest possible, keeping in mind accuracy and stability. In the present research work, we developed and investigated such reliable numerical method for the solution of stochastic models, which remains consistent with the continuous dynamical systems. This method will numerically analyze the behavior of solution of the models, stability analysis of the steady states and threshold criteria for the physical systems. The proposed method could be used with arbitrarily large time steps, thus making them more economical to use when integrating over long time periods and could be restore all the essential properties like dynamical consistency, positivity and boundedness of the corresponding dynamical systems.

کتابوں سے محبت عظیم لوگوں کا شیوہ ہوتا ہے، کتابوں سے محبت کر نے والا آسمانوں کی بلندیوں پر پرواز کرتا ہے، کتابوں کا مطالعہ کر نے والا کبھی تنہائی کا شکار نہیں ہوتا، کتب بینی ایسا شوق وذوق ہے جس سے جہالت کے بادل چھٹ جاتے ہیں اور مطلع دل و دماغ پر صاحبِ علم و دانش کا آفتاب و ماہتاب چمکناشروع ہو جاتا ہے۔

کتب کی رفاقت ایک ایسی رفاقت ہے کہ جو اپنے ہم نشیں کو بھی تنہائی کا شکار نہیں ہونے دیتی، جو اپنے ہم نشیں کے دل میں خلوتوں اور تنہائیوں کی وحشت کو ختم کر کے محبت و مودّت کے شگوفے کھلاتی ہے، کتب کے مطالعہ سے تاریخِ عالم پڑھنے کا موقع ملتا ہے۔ قوموں کے عروج و زوال سامنے آتے ہیں، قوموں کی معاشی ، اقتصادی، سیاسی اور روحانی زندگی سے آشنائی ہوتی ہے۔

تاریخ اسلام اس بات پر شاہد ہے کہ مسلمانوں کو کتب بینی و مطالعہ میں ہمیشہ ایک امتیازی مقام حاصل رہا ہے، مسلمانوں نے ہمیشہ کتابوں سے محبت کی ہے ، دسمبر کی زمستانی ہوائیں ہوں، یا جون کی تڑپا دینے والی دھوپ، وقت عصر ہو یارات کا پچھلا پہر ،تدریسی اسباق کی تیاری ہو یاممبر رسول پر وعظ کے لیے تقریر کی تیاری، کسی امتحان کی تیاری کرنی ہو یا فکرآخرت کی تیاری کتب ہائے خیر سے ذی شعور اور ذی فہم و فراست افراد کی دوستی مثالی رہی ہے۔

Islam is a complete code of life. It has complete instructions regarding all aspects of life. There is no moment in human life when the wisdom of Islam has not benefited humanity. Likewise there is no such area in the world where Islam has not put the light of guidance. Allah Almighty has systematically administered this world system.  Allah created the universe and set it disciplined, then created man and gave him every kind of physical, rational, logical and argumintive ability, so that humans can know the secrets of the universe by thinking and understanding it. The journey of research and discovery, which started long ago, is still continues today after passing through different stages of research. This journey of research resulted in evolution of philosophy, civilization, promotion of new scientific innovations and discoveries. The research and discovery resulted in the secrets of heaven and earth.  Today, man stands at the stage of science and technology, about which the human being in the older days even could not imagine of it. In this entire evolutionary journey, the religion of Islam is the only religion that not only stood firmly with humans, but guided him at every step during this evolutionary journey. International Anti-Money Laundering Regime and its Impacts on the Financial Sector of Pakistan

Money laundering emerged as a global crime. It has the ability to ruin not only the economies, financial institutions but has the power to destabilize political governments and ignite terrorist activities. Decades ago Money laundering was no where on the scene but it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t there. On account of globalization, integration of financial markets and incident of 9/11 the dynamics and implications of money laundering caught the attention of international Regulators. The purpose of this dissertation is to identify various Anti-money laundering regimes, their policies, significance and impact of these regimes for Pakistan and its financial sector. To counter this global menace, active approach at international level was required besides well- coordinated measures at national level. This dissertation discusses various international regimes like UNO, IMF, WB, Wolfsburg, IOSCO, IAIS and FATF etc. that have come up with techniques to check and control this global crime on one hand and also provide technical and financial assistance to member countries for collaborative efforts to curb money laundering activities that has no national boundaries. Being strategically located Pakistan is also one of the victims of money laundering and terrorist activities therefore; compliance to International standards has not only international but also national significance. Pakistan has taken legislative, legal, administrative and regulatory measures to comply with international standards. The significance of international anti-money laundering regimes for Pakistan cannot be ignored as adhering to their guidelines has enabled financial sector of Pakistan to adopt prudential regulations to manage operational, legal, credit and reputational risks. Finally the dissertation concludes with recommendations for bringing further improvement in the measures taken by Pakistan to combat money laundering with emphasis upon controlling the sources of dirty money, implementation of Good Governance, respect for writ of judiciary , public awareness programmes to encourage home remittances through legal channels and overall understanding of socio-cultural values of societies for effective international co-ordination and convergence of policies to combat money laundering for strong global economy and lasting peace among nations.
