Present studies were carried out to screen potato lines/cultivars against late blight, determine the effects of late blight on mineral nutrients and phenolic contents of susceptible and resistant potato cultivars, and manage late blight of potato. Out of 61 varieties/lines tested under natural disease conditions none of the variety/line was found to be immune, highly resistant or resistant to late blight of potato. Thirteen varieties/lines exhibited moderately resistant, thirteen exhibited moderately susceptible, twenty five showed susceptible, and ten showed highly susceptible response. Total phenols detected one month pre and post disease appearance in 50 lines/cultivars. After infection with late blight disease, total phenols significantly increased in all the diseased plants more than the increase in healthy plants of same age. We found an increase in nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, and zinc contents of healthy plants of susceptible varieties/lines whereas, potassium, calcium, sodium and iron contents higher in the healthy plants resistant cultivars/lines. Upon disease appearance nitrogen, sodium, potassium, calcium, copper, zinc, and iron contents increased invariably in all plants of both susceptible and resistant cultivars/lines. On the other hand, phosphorus and magnesium contents increased in susceptible cultivars/lines but decreased in resistant cultivars/lines. Control efficiency of Ridomil Gold and Neem (Azadrachta indica) leaf extract, as protective and curative was more pronounced on moderately resistant cultivar (Shanan) as compared to highly susceptible (Karoda). By sowing moderately resistant cultivars and spraying Neem leaf extract or Garlic extract @3% or moderately resistant varieties/lines combined with half the recommended dose of fungicides can protect the crop efficiently. Fungicide application (Ridomil Gold or Melody Dew) should be done at the appearance of disease just for once or twice to reduce the damage to environment and creation of resistance in the pathogen. Our study suggests that resistant cultivars should be exploited with fungicide use to enhance the disease control and disease losses.

مفهوم الأدب الإسلامي و إسلامية الأدب عبر العصور

Islamic literature is a term referring to the school of thought who believes that a good literary work should view God, man and the world through the lens of Islam. It is conceived that the style of such literature must be of high quality with the Qur’ān, Ḥadith and the legacy of the Islamic scholars being its model. Islamic literature is a universal literature and can be written in any language. However, most of what has been written on the theory and practice of Islamic literature is in Arabic. This study discusses the model of Islamic literature in era of Islam, Umayyad period, Abbasid period, and Modern world. Topics of Islamic literature in modern times are dealing with the moral values in the Qur’ān and the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him.  It discusses Jurisprudence in worship Biography of the Prophet and Praise of the Prophet and his companions God bless them all. The deep knowledge of Arabic language and Islamic literature solves the social and cultural problems around the world.

Physicochemical and Functional Assessment of Soy Milk for Value Addition Through Fermentation

The current research work was carried out to characterize the local (Faisal, NARC-II, Willium-82, Ajmeri and Rawal-I) promising soybean varieties. The physicochemical analysis like protein, fat, ash, minerals and fatty acids profile showed the significant variation. Phytochemical test like TPC, TFC, antioxidant activity (DPPH, ABTS and FRAP) showed substantial variation among them. Lipoxygenase (LOX-1, LOX-2 and LOX-3 that cause oxidation and off- flavor were lower in Ajmeri. The initially three secreened varieties (Ajmeri, Willium-82 and NARC-II) were used to prepare fermented soy milk fermented with Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus casei to evaluate their single and coculture effect. The periodically physicochemical, functional, microbial, antioxidant potential and organoleptic evaluation of soy milk showed significant differences among three varieties and treatments of soy milk. The viscosity versus shear rate displayed higher viscosity in coculture fermented soy milk especially in Ajmeri. Scanning Electron microscopy depicted that Ajmeri soy milk fermented with L. caseishowed relatively more uniform texture and smaller pore size in comparison to L. acidophilus however,it was elucidated that combination of cultures depicting constant and precise pore formation with stronger cross linking of soybean protein that had modified structure stability. Isoflavones quantified through HPLC displayed were higher in comparison to genistein in Ajmeri soy milk fermented with co-culture. Afterwards Ajmeri soy milk fermented by coculture and non-fermented was used to conduct bio-efficacy trial on Sprague dawley rats for Hyperglycemia and Hypercholesterolemia. The studies were intended as study I (Normal rats) study II (Hyperglycemic rats and study III (Hypercholestrolemic rats). The results showed percent decrease in glucose level from 3.61 to 17.11% and inclining insulin level from 1.8 to 8.3%. The value added drink was most effective in lowering cholesterol level from 2.62 to 13.51% likewise the LDL reduction and elevation of HDL was increased. The safety test on liver, kidney and blood biochemistry suggested it as a safe and non-toxic product. The research explored that soybeans are a good source of nutritional food and Ajmeri, Willium-82 and NARC- II have food grade value than other varieties. Furthermore, combination of L. acidophilus and L. casei in the fermentation of Ajmeri soy milk has a valuable effect against hyperglycemia and hypercholesterolemia is effective in comparison to non- fermented soy milk. Present study colclueded that soy based functional foods should be encouraged in diet to curb from various health remadies and protein requirement can be fulfilled in an inexpensive way by administrating fermented soy milk.
