This research dissertation comprises of the syntheses of benzophenone derivatives and evaluation of their in vitro biological activities. The chemical structures of synthetic compounds were elucidated by different spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques such as 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR and EI-MS, HREI-MS respectively. Melting point and Rf values of each compound was also defined. This whole thesis is divided in two chapters. Each chapter has its own compound numbering, figure numbering, and references.

ادھر کسی سال ناغہ نہیں جاتا کہ دارالمصنفین کو اپنے ارکان و مخلصین کی جدائی کا صدمہ نہ اٹھانا پڑے، ۲؍ اگست کو اس کی مجلس انتظامیہ کے ایک پر جوش، سرگرم، افعال اور مخلص رکن جناب شاہ غلام خالد صاحب نے داعئی اجل کو لبیک کہا، اناﷲ وانا الیہ راجعون، وہ اعظم گڑھ کے ممتاز اور کامیاب وکیل تھے، ان کی نانہال مولانا شبلی مرحوم کے خاندان میں تھی، ان سے اور ان سے نسبت رکھنے والے تمام اداروں سے مرحوم کو قلبی لگاؤ تھا، مدت دراز تک شبلی نیشنل کالج کے سرگرم ممبر اور اسسٹنٹ بلکہ عملاً سکریٹری رہے، انھوں نے بڑی جانفشانی سے اسکول اور کالج کو ترقی دی اور ان کے علمی و تعلیمی معیار اور ڈسپلن کو قائم رکھا، وہ بڑے دلیر اور دبنگ تھے کوئی بڑے اقدام کرنے میں ان کو ہچکچاہٹ نہیں ہوتی تھی، اب ان کی سرگرمی اور دلچسپی کا خاص مرکز دارلمصنفین ہوگیا تھا جس کے لیے مرتے دم تک سینہ سپر رہے، اور بڑے نازک اور بحرانی دور میں انھوں نے اس کی پوری مدد کی، اس موقع پر ان کا رعب و دبدبہ، جرأت و ہمت اور مقامی اثر و رسوخ بہت کام آیا، ان میں بڑی قوت عملی اور غیر معمولی صلاحیتیں تھیں جن سے دارالمصنفین اور اس کے کارکنوں کو بڑا فائدہ پہنچا، وہ گذشتہ کئی برس سے پیہم آفات و حوادث کا نشانہ بنے ہوئے تھے جس کا اثر ان کی صحت پر بھی پڑا، گذشتہ سال قلبی دورہ پڑا، بالآخر اسی بیماریٔ دل نے کام تمام کردیا، اﷲ تعالیٰ انھیں جنت نعیم عطا کرے اور متعلقین کو صبر جمیل دے۔ آمین!! Ethical Vices in Divine Books (Quran & Bible): A Comparative Study Morality implies values that distinguish between good and bad behavior. Divine religions have private behavioral value frameworks that are intended to guide followers in determining between right and wrong. Moral values are important in life because: If a person has never learned about moral values then how can he/she decide between the good and the bad. Moral values reflect an individual's character and spirituality. They help in building good relationships in personal as well as professional lives. In this article comparative study of ethical vices’ in light of divine books has been conducted. While doing so the behaviors like Pretention, Miserly, scrooge, Exuberance, Slandering, to lie, Faults/ Curiosity, make fun etc. Are being discussed and analyzed in order to highlight the moral teachings of the divine books. Texts from Torah, Psalm, Gospels and Quran on these vices are studied and analyzed. Study shows that divine books other than Quran have discussed immoral or wicked behavior briefly and just point out the vices but Quran and Sunnah discussed in detail about wicked behavior and also educate about the strategies that can steer you away from temptations and vices. Thus, the Qur’ᾱnic laws and injunctions make our life good and purposeful in this world and hereafter.

Biodiversity of Wasps Hymenoptera: Vespidae from Multan Division, Punjab, Pakistan.

To explore the wasp’s fauna and its biodiversity from Multan division, extensive surveys were carried out in selected localities of four districts of Multan division during 2013-2016. Result yielded 24 species under 14 genera of three sub- families i.e., Eumeninae, Vespinae and Polistinae as per following details: subfamily Eumeninae with 18 species under 11 genera, among them, five species are new records for Pakistan; subfamily Polistinae represented five species under two genera, whereas subfamily Vespinae with one species under one genus. Out of 24 identified species, 21 species are recorded first time for Multan division from which five species, i.e., Antepipona ceylonica, Delta campaniforme campaniforme, Odynerus reniformis, Stenodynerus punjabensis Qasim, Carpenter et Rafi, sp. nov. and Subancistrocerus pakistanensis Qasim, Carpenter et Rafique, sp. nov are new records for Pakistan included two species, Stenodynerus punjabensis Qasim, Carpenter et Rafi, sp. nov. and Subancistrocerus pakistanensis Qasim, Carpenter et Rafique, sp. nov. which are new to science. Two genera Odynerus and Subancistrocerus are reported first time from Pakistan. Diversity was calculated using Shannon-Wiener’s diversity index and Simpson’s index. Richness was calculated by using Menhinck index and Marglef’s index and the evenness or equitability was calculated with Nakamura’s index and Shannon’s equitability index. Result of diversity indices and richness from four districts showed that the Vespidae are normally distributed without any significant difference. Results of Shannon equitability and Nakamura indices showed Vespidae are evenly distributed. However, diversity and richness was low in some localities of Multan division due to geographical and hard climatic conditions.
