Schools always strive to improve the quality of education by strengthening, and making the teaching and learning process more effective. For this aspect, school provides opportunities to the teachers to bring effectiveness in their performance by arranging professional development sessions or workshops. However, teachers require continuous support on regular basis for their capacity building. Thus it requires developing a culture of professional learning community (PLC) that not only provides support to teachers on regular basis for their development, but also builds a collaborative learning environment for the teachers. With this objective, this study explored the factors that were required for creating the environment based on PLC in the school particularly in the ECD context. Further, this study also identified the processes that helped to build PLC using appreciative inquiry approach. In addition, the support of appreciative inquiry as an approach for building PLC was also measured. In this regard, eight research participants were selected who were involved in four stages of appreciative inquiry i.e. discovery, dream, design and destiny. The data revealed that trust, collaborative learning and reflective dialogue were some of the factors that are required for creating a PLC environment. However, three processes for initiating PLC culture were included which are classroom teaching and observation, constructive feedbacks and reflective dialogue sessions. At the end, this research found that appreciative inquiry approach was significant as a value-added tool that helped to build the collaborative environment in the school and provided participants an opportunity to share their skills and expertise as well as their dreams and imaginations with each other.

                ناول ادب کی ایک صنف ہے۔ناول اور داستان میں نمایاں فرق ہے ایسی مخصوص خصوصیات جو ناول کو داستان سے ممتاز کرتی ہیں وہ حقیقت نگاری ،فلسفیانہ گہرائی اور کردار کی اہمیت ہے۔جہاں تک حقیقت نگاری کی بات ہے تو حقیقت نگاری داستان میں بھی پائی جاتی ہے اور اسی طرح ناول بھی تخیل سے محفوظ نہیں ہے اس میں بھی تخیلاتی تصورات پائے جاتے ہیں۔ جس طرح داستان میں طویل قصے اور بے شمار کردار پائے جاتے ہیں اسی طرح ناول میں مختصر واقعات کے ساتھ ساتھ کرداروں کی بھرمار سیکنارہ کیا جاتاہے۔ داستان میں کہانی کا صرف ایک رخ سامنے آتا ہے اس کے برعکس ناول سوچ و تصور کی باز یافت یا ممکن حد تک ترتیب وتشکیل کے فرائض انجام دیتا ہے۔جہاں داستان میں مافوق الفطرت کردار پائے جاتے ہیں خارجی رشتوں جبکہ ناول میں خارجی کے ساتھ ساتھ باطنی حقیقتوں کا بھی گہرائی سے فلسفیانہ تکنیک کو مد نظر رکھتے ہوئے مطالعہ کیا جاتا ہے۔ناول میں کچھ خاص عناصر مقرر کیے جاتے ہیں جن پر ایک ناول اپنی بنیاد رکھتا ہے اس میں کہانی کے ساتھ’پلاٹ‘‘جو کہ نہایت مضبوط ہوناچاہیے۔اسی پہ ہی تمام کہانی کا دارومدارہوتاہے پھر’’حالات وواقعات‘‘جن کو بنیاد بناکر کہانی لکھی جاتی ہے۔کردار جو کہ معاشرے کے حقیقی کرداروں سے قریب تر ہوتے ہیں۔جن میں حقیقی زندگی کاعنصر موجود ہوتا ہے۔’’زمان ومکاں‘‘جو کہ کہانی کو ایک نیا موڑ دیتے ہیں۔پھر جو بہت ضروری عنصر جس پہ ناول کو اہمیت کا حامل سمجھا جاتا ہے وہ اس کا’’اسلوب‘‘ہوتاہے۔اسلوب بیان جو دل میں اتر جاتا ہے اور دماغ میں ایک دیرپا تاثر چھوڑجاتا ہے۔اسلوب کے بعد ’’نقطہ نظر‘‘ کی باری آتی ہے۔مصنف نے ناول میں جس بات کو مدنظر رکھ کراور جس نقطہ نظرسے لکھا ہوتا ہے اسے اہمیت حاصل ہوتی ہے۔ڈاکٹر احسن...

An Analysis of Islamic Economic Model

The aim of this paper is to discuss some economic Islamic models given by some prestigious Islamic economists. The Islamic model is one of the examples for international economies in the starting of new millennium. It has its evaluation in the 1970s as an alternate to conventional banking system. The model is based on profit loss sharing and would not be based on interest. The study will focus on the proposed model and will discuss the issues that the model will be supposed to address. It was also address whether the model is applicable to Pakistan economy or not it will also be discussed. As we know that there is dual banking system in Pakistan. In order to make banking system to be truly Islam, there should be legal prohibition of riba. In other words, riba should be made unlawful and whoever deals with it can be prosecuted by law. By prohibiting riba, it will force the bank to be more creative in offering financing products rather than just loaning money. The study will attempt to show the comparison between conventional system and Islamic financial and discusses whether the Islamic system works smoothly on the economy of Pakistan. It also shows that Pakistan should change its dual banking system in Islamic banking system to change structure change. In addition, Islamic financing contract require real activities to be created. There will not be loans to finance extravagance lifestyle which is the source of bankruptcies among the younger generation. It is strongly recommended that Pakistan should enforce truly Islamic financial system to sustain its economy and avoid another economic crisis in the future.

Exploring the Power of Appreciative Inquiry in Discovering the Positive Core of a Public Sector Rural School in Gilgit-Baltistan

Schools as social organization, hold lot of untapped positive core in the form of knowledge, best practices, success stories, skills and positive experiences of the stakeholders which can serve as a basis for inquiry, learning, inspiration, interpretation and possibility for improvement. This study explores how Appreciative Inquiry (AI) as a contemporary approach for organizational development, helped the key stakeholders of a public sector school to discover the positive core of their school and generated possibilities for improvement. AI was used both as a research perspective and a strategy for school improvement because of its positive approach for key stakeholders to interact with each other. Purposeful sampling strategy was adopted to get the representation of various key stakeholders in the study. Altogether eleven research participants were engaged in the process of data generation through semi-structured individual interviews, pair interviews, positive conversation sessions and observation of school’s artifacts and displays. Data was analyzed using content analysis, thematic coding and pattern matching techniques. Findings of the study suggest that AI process provided the space for candid dialogue by involving the voices of a diverse group of key stakeholders to think deeply about the positive aspects of the school. It was evident that the AI process enabled the participants to recognize themselves as worthwhile individuals possessing unique strengths by sharing stories of most delightful experiences and energized them to move from mere participation to real engagement. The study found that AI has the potential to engage the key stakeholders within the school to collectively imagine their preferred future. It also helped them to realize the critical role of school principal in creating a positive work environment. The AI process has the capacity to enhance meaningful relationship among school community, gain broad participation of key stakeholders and initiate collaborative actions for improved teaching leaning processes in schools.
