In today's developing world, use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) resources is believed to be useful for promoting conceptual learning in science in general and abstract concepts in particular. In this sense, it is important to understand the use of ICT resources in teaching and learning science from teachers' and students' perspectives. Therefore, this study was carried out in order to explore science teachers' and their students' experiences about the use of ICTs in their teaching and learning of science. The research was conducted in a secondary private boys' school in the District Chitral of Khyber Phaktunkhwa, Pakistan. A qualitative case study method was used to investigate the problem. For the data collection, semi- structured interviews with two science teachers and focus group discussions with the students of Grade 9 were carried out. Classroom observation and document analysis were also used as data collection tools for the study. The key findings of the study indicate that teachers are using ICTs with various purposes in mind. These include: to facilitate in-depth learning of abstract concepts in science, to enhance teachers' content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge, and to use social media in teaching and learning of science and for administrative planning of academic work. In addition, the study points out students' experiences of using ICT in learning of science. It includes: ICTs as tools for enhancing knowledge, developing interest in science and helping students in becoming independent learners. However, teachers and students experience some challenges in using ICTs, which include lack of ICT skills and knowledge, misuse of internet (i.e. surfing offended websites and using only for chatting purposes) and accessibilities to ICT resources. But despite such challenges, teachers are committed and motivated to use ICTs in their teaching and learning of science. The study has diverse implications. The study helps the science teachers and students of the participating school to reflect on their roles and current practices regarding the application of technology in science teaching. Additionally, it gives me the understanding of the usabilities and effectiveness of ICTs in teaching and learning process which would, indeed be helpful in my professional life. This may challenge the educators and the school leadership to work harder to keep themselves abreast of the use of ICTs, ideally, triggering action at the management and government level to do more to integrate ICTs with teaching and learning processes and practices.

The world has been changing ever since its creation, yet the pace of change in the last one hundred years or so has been the most rapid ever. This research has also elaborated the modern approaches in Sῑrah writing. The study has mainly focused on significant Sῑrah books of three languages i.e. Arabic, English and Urdu. These books include Fiqh Al Sῑrah by Muḥammad Sa’īd Ramaḍān Al Būtī, Fiqh Al Sῑrah by Muḥammad Al Ghazālī, Madnī Mu‘āshrah by Akram Ḍīā Al ‘Umrī, The Life and the Work of the Prophet by Dr. Muḥammad Ḥamīdullāh, The Spirit of Islam by Sayīd Amīr ‘Alī, Muhammad A Biography of Prophet by Karen Armstrong, Sīrah Al Nabī by ‘Allāmah Shiblī Nu’mānī, Aṣaḥ Al Sῑyar by ‘Abdul Raūf Dānāpūrī, Ḍīā Al Nabī by Pīr Muḥammad Karam Shāh, Sīrati Sarwari ‘Alam by Abūl A‘lā Mūdūdī, Raḥmatullil'ālamīn by Qāḍī Muhammad Sulymān Manṣūrpūrī and Muḥammad Rasūlallāh by Sayīd Muḥammad Mīyān.

School-Home Partnership in the Context of a Private School Located in Karachi, Pakistan

This study explores how school-community partnership is developed as an improvement strategy in a private school located in Karachi, Pakistan, where most of the schools are operating without partnership with the communities. The study was qualitative in nature, in which interviews, observations and document analysis were used as different tools for data collection in order to get knowledge about different partnership practices. The practices were found to be the different modes of communication between the homes and school, involvement of the community in different curricular and co- curricular activities, exchange of resources between the homes and the school and various voluntary services by the parents. The study also identified the factors which enhance or hinder school home partnership and explored the perceptions of the school staff regarding their roles in building school-home partnership. The communication between the school and the homes was found to be the fundamental practice for improving the learning environment for the students both at home and at school. It is done through formal meetings, circulars, provision of reading materials, telephonic contacts and different awareness programs arranged at the school. Partnership with homes was also found in terms of involvement of parents in curricular and co-curricular activities, which include story-telling, project works, formal discussions, and classroom observation. Similarly, voluntary services by the parents and the resources which are exchanged between the school and the families were also closely examined in this study. The factors which enhance school-home partnership were found to be: the support and guidance provided by the principal, availability of the resources, location of the school and the learning environment of the school. Meanwhile, while the factors which hinder schoolhome partnership were language problem of some of the parents, hesitation of novice teachers in interacting with the parents and the presence of certain strict rules and regulations. The perception of the school staff and parents about the roles of the principal showed that s/he should be a role model for other staff, develop a collaborative environment within the school and encourage team work, so that parents can be motivated and involved in the education of their children.
