This study aimed to explore the perceptions and experiences of the stakeholders of a Private Educational Organization about the effectiveness of the programme evaluation practices in improving the quality of the academic programmes. The programme evaluation has been in practice in this organization for the last many years with a belief that it has significantly helped the organization to improve and enhance the quality of the academic programmes. For over a decade now, various programme evaluation approaches have been used; however, so far there had been no concerted effort to know how the evaluation practices are perceived by the stakeholders, and whether these practices have really been helpful in improving the quality of the programmes. Hence, this study was conceptualized. For this study, the phenomenological approach was used to explore the perceptions and experiences of the key programme stakeholders of the organization. Nine individuals from the senior academic management were selected through purposive sampling, as they were involved in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating the academic programmes. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The data shows that whereas 1) there is consensus among key stakeholders that evaluation is a key tool for improvement of programme quality, 2) however, not all key respondents were clear about the purpose, approaches and outcome of the programme evaluation at the organizational level. This lack of clarity leads to the confusion in making appropriate judgment about the effectiveness of the evaluation practices as well as the quality of the programmes, and 3) the evaluation is not always an objective and simple phenomenon rather it is a complex process which is greatly affected and influenced by the beliefs, understanding, knowledge and professional hierarchies of the stakeholders in the organization.

پروفیسر نذیر احمد کے انتقال سے علم و دانش کے میدان میں بالعموم اردو فارسی زبان و ادب کے میدان میں بالخصوص جو خلاء پیدا ہوا ہے اس کا پر ہونا مشکل ہے۔ ان کے علمی اکتسابات اور تحقیقی فتوحات کی فہرست بہت طویل ہے اور اسی طرح ان اعزازات کی بھی جو انہیں تفویض کیے گئے۔ ایران، افغانستان، وسط ایشیا اور جنوبی ایشیا کے علاوہ یورپ و امریکہ کے علمی حلقوں میں ان کے نام اور کام کا بڑا احترام اور اعتراف پایا جاتا تھا۔ ان کی علمی اور تحقیقی دلچسپیوں کا میدان بہت وسیع تھا اور علم و فن کے کتنے ہی تاریک گوشے ان کی فکری کاوشوں سے روشنی میں آئے لیکن تدوین و تحقیق متن اور فرہنگ نویسی ان کے خاص موضوعات تھے جہاں ان کا علم و فن نئی بلندیوں پر نظر آتا ہے۔ دیوان حافظ کے دو قدیم ترین نسخوں کی تحقیق و تدوین کے علاوہ انہوں نے متعدد اہم متون کی بڑی ژرف نگاہی سے تدوین کی اور تحقیق متن کا ایک معیار قائم کیا۔ حافظ پر اپنی تحقیقات کی وجہ سے وہ حافظ شناس کے خطاب سے موسوم ہوئے۔ مصوری، خطاطی اور موسیقی جیسے مختلف النوع موضوعات پر ان کا مطالعہ بہت وسیع تھا اور ان موضوعات پر انہوں نے بڑا وقیع تحقیقی سرمایہ یادگار چھوڑا ہے۔ ان کی شخصیت میں اتنے متنوع اور گونا گوں اوصاف اور کمالات جمع ہوگئے تھے کہ انہیں دیکھ کر علماء سلف کی یاد تازہ ہوجاتی تھی۔ علم و فضل اور شہرت و ناموری کے اتنے اونچے مرتبہ پر فائز ہونے کے باوجود ان کے مزاج میں بڑی سادگی، انکسار اور تواضع تھی۔ اپنے خوردوں سے بھی بڑی خندہ پیشانی اور تواضع سے پیش آتے۔ ان کے مقام و مرتبہ کا ادراک صرف اس وقت ہوتا تھا...

اندلس میں مسلمانوں کے ادوار حکومت کا تحقیقی و تنقیدی جائزہ

The golden Islamic history cannot be completed without the mention of Spain which was a bright star. It became one of the great Muslim civilizations; reaching its summit with the Umayyad caliphate of the tenth century. The heartland of Muslim rule was Southern Spain or Andulus. Different eras of Muslim rule in Andulus have been described in this research with an aim to highlight their apex and glory they achieved and then a focus on the reasons of their downfall as well. A brief introduction of the rulers in all eras with their major achievements and immersion in evil habits that led to their downfall has been the prime focus of this research. It gives us various glimpses from the course of history to reflect upon Muslim rule in Spain from a new perspective.

A Vision Based Plateform For Sign Language Interpretation

Human beings developed the ability to communicate with one another at the dawn of civilization and the primary method and approach of that communication methodology was through speech. Language development and the ability to communicate in a common language is the backbone of human living structure. Unfortunately not everyone in this world has the ability to use to speech or conventional hearing methods in order to communicate. They are known as hearing impaired people and they make use of sign language in order to communicate with each other and the rest. According to recent survey by Center of bibliographical study and research in California, 466 million people have hearing disability and 34 million of them are children. Hearing disability creates an issue for them from workplace to household and especially for children in emergency circumstances. The solution that currently exists in order to deal with this problem is human resource based where someone with hearing disability should be able to hire a sign language interpreter in order to communicate with those who do not understand sign language. The issue that comes along with this approach is that this is not very feasible or practical approach for may deaf and mute people and is unable to solve communication problems specially during emergency crisis period. The digital solutions that exist in dealing with this problem have two hindrances that comes along with them: the solution is either very expensive where it goes above $10,000 or the solution is not portable where it could not be carried to a classroom or a workplace. The solution that we have provided uses neural networks to translate sign language gestures into corresponding words, sentences, alphabets and numbers in English Language. The solution is affordable and portable as it comprises of a Raspberry pi, a camera, a potable battery and an LCD screen where the user just has to perform sign language gestures in front of the screen and corresponding results would appear written on the LCD. The way forward with this project is increasing the dataset and diversifying training images in order to increase and accuracy and completely omits the background or light visibility issue. Furthermore, the next approach for the this project could be releasing this project in the form of an application once proper accuracy levels are met in order to make this project completely free and perfectly portable
